Great video, this one I personally think says a lot. Sorry I’m late I was working on a video of my own.
I don’t think of my content so good really, if I compare I think there is this “Lure” that your content has and perhaps my issue is I pace things very fast.
It’s good to learn though. I’m not one to typically do a sidequest in video games and many video games make you feel unrewarded for doing so.
Finally, I think CreepyPasta readings would be cool to see. Course I always liked that stuff so I’m a bit biased but I think you have a knack for deep content. Feels passionate.

there is a feeling i wish to share.
I used to believe that, because I wasn't physically strong, I can be good, since I could never do harm.
But then I started going to the gym. I realized I was always envious of those physically stronger and more capable of me. They could do things I couldn't.
Sure, they could harm, just like how I eas bullied back in school. But they could do so much more. Carry the heavy stuff, climb from the first floor to the second when the keys where left inside, carry their mothers to the hospital when they got sick.
I understood I was not good, I was harmless. And that is very dangerous.
One needs to be capable, because capable is not evil, it's a tool, and you get to choose what to do with it.
The same with the trolly problem. What is stopping you from being kind? What's stopping you from going to the gym?

my dear, that is a deep feeling you shared. I hadn't imagined that which you bring up, but i see how you could feel... But there is strenght in the nimblest of us, and realising that which you figured then is big. I am 5' 11", robustly built, and hardly thought of that, and now that you mention it, it comes to my attention that such a big oversight comes from being able, in the sense you bring up. If i had my perspective a few steps behind of where i stood then, i could have appreciated that aspect.
I genuinely hope this video sparked something within you.
I invite you watch the three others I uploaded, they were made with the same effort and enthusiasm.

This video feels like it's operating on the assumption that there's an objective "good" that can be done. But my question is, what happens when there's no clear "objectively good" outcome, or when there's disagreement about what is good?
I don't mean to make things political, but also, I don't see how you can talk about "goodness" without getting political. You mention Black Myth: Wukong, for example. Game Science, the Chinese studio responsible for developing Black Myth, has been accused by Chinese feminists of cultivating an environment of toxic sexuality, regularly using ads for developer jobs that claim male employees get to be "taken care of" by women in incredibly inappropriate ways. This was all revealed in an IGN article that was released last year, as well as another article in The China Project 4 years ago.
But the issue with criticizing Game Science for being sexist is that most people in the west don't actually care about or consider the needs of Chinese feminists. It feels like the IGN article, which intended good, has opened the door to all sorts of bad faith criticism about Black Myth, like that it's "racist" for having a cast full of Chinese people. Frankly, I think the idea a Chinese adaptation of a Chinese story shouldn't be about Chinese people is what's really racist here. In my opinion, because IGN didn't critically evaluate their own role as a "western outlet" trying to pressure a Chinese company with the western market, their specific allegations, which are important, have been collectively ignored in favor of anything western consumers want to complain about.
So my question for you is: what's the right course of action here? Is it good to condemn Black Myth completely, even though that ends up actually dis-empowering everyone in China because you're weaponizing the western market and western values against them? Or is it important to try and appreciate Black Myth, for what it is, despite the fact that you're supporting a developer that actively suppresses and harms women?

@@natebookout811 completely based analysis and i take it. Most of modern takes in western media permanently upholds and guards for protected groups, which would be totally valid "in an active targeting", but when the posture is to attack chinese ppl in china for telling a chinese story by using chinese people and claims a lack of diversity, it tokenizes said protected groups. That on that regard.
On the regard of chinese feminism (a sentence i never thought i would type...), there's a set of things that people juggle to make it fool proof, but i don't want to sound facetious. Namely, it is true that this studio have below par ethics, yet it only came up after the first row of peer pressuring failed. Of course chineses womn shouldnt be harmed (nor any, mind you) but on the larger scheme, they are being tokenized by western media. I brought WH40k too, and they tried to steamroll them, however, media outlets give the same cookie cutter statements, bland and hollow. How is it that space marines sold 2m units, yet is rated 60 in ign, below Gollum 's 63? And they ranted long and wide about "how bad the space marine message is", or "how it is a dog whistle"...
Concord failed too. But why? Because dei? Nope. Apex Legends and Overwatch are packed with dei characters. But their identity does not come before gameplay. Even so, it too Sony 8 years and 400million US to drop that, and the gameplay sucked too, but that is fixable by updates and patching, AS ANY FEEL LIVE SERVICE WOULD, not a AAA production charging full price.
Tetsuya Nomura, from Final Fantasy, that the reason why he draws hot protagonists is because when he was in high school, he played a friend's game that had an ugly protagonist. He remembers his friend said "man, why does some ugly guy like this exist even in a game world?". Yet, to media outlets, it didnt failed for being subpar, but because of bigotry.
I don't like when either left or right sides tell me what to think, so i listen to both, and guard against both. If you concede to any, you don't become part of the correct side, but just another pawn.
Again, peoples and individual rights should be respected and protected at all costs. No matter where. But, when your livelyhood depends on copypasting the same argument over and over trying to dunk on others peoples/studios success, you know what I think?
"Just put the fries in the bag, man". Lol

@phantom-boogie Yeah, DEI is another one of those things that's just a distraction from what Chinese feminists are actually concerned about. There's no actual evidence of any kind of offer between Sweet Baby Inc. and Game Science I've been able to find. And, Kim Belair herself, of Sweet Baby Inc., has gone on record about how consulting companies actually work. This is the thing everybody says is her telling developers to "terrify" people into working with them. That's nonsense; and in my opinion, she actually proved this is a fake issue. She really says that developers should pressure their marking teams for the budget to do the kind of development they want, like narratives, which don't get large budgets in games. Consulting companies help save money: that's their role. And that's why it works to appeal to marketing for more budget, via a consulting company. But Game Science has Tencent, a financial giant, as an investor, so I doubt they needed to use that tactic for their budget.
Also, I would caution you against treating "the left" and "the right" as if they're falsely equivalent. Power dynamics are crucial for determining who stands to benefit, and who is being oppressed, by any given policy. Yes, we should be suspicious of anyone who claims to know what's absolutely "right" or "wrong", regardless whether they're on the left or right. But, historically, the purpose of the "left vs. right" conflict has always been about one side consolidating power, reinforcing existing power structures, and encouraging oppression, while the other fights for liberation. Really, what we should be concerned about is any form of power, whether it's on "the left" or "the right", as it becomes quickly very easy for our old hegemonic schema to adapt the appearance of progress for self-preservation (this is actually the real function of DEI, in my opinion; I don't think the goal of marketing and selling a product, what DEI exists for, is consistent with liberation).
