I love my scx6, the only thing ive done is tighten the slipper clutch as it was loose out of the box and i taped the vent holes to prevent water from coming in and now i am super happy, what an amazing truck.
I've had mine for 2 months now and loving it. Upgraded the servo to a Powerhobby 1513MG (same specs as a Reefs 2000, but $200 less), Aluminium front shock mounts to get rid of the upper panhard mount flex, DIY metal bracket to get rid of the the lower panhard mount flex, Injora aluminium wheels, Flysky GT5 TX + RX, Lights on/off from TX. The upgraded power and rigidity of the steering caused the RX/ESC tray to break at the front left mounting point, which is a weak point, so I replaced that with the Vitavon tray. I reprogrammed the ESC more to my liking. I have an Injora aluminium front bumper mount sitting here waiting to be fitted - the reason for that is that it includes a servo mount for the stock steering servo - I will covert the stock servo to a winch, power it with a hobbywing 1060, and mount it behind the bumper. I also plan to change the pinion to 1 tooth smaller, as I don't need the current top speed in 2nd gear, so lower gearing would be more useful for how I use the car. I'm using Gens Ace 3s 8000mAh batteries and getting great run times out of them. I find the BEC in the ESC to be fine, as I'm direct powering the steering servo. I'm still using the stock foams, but will replace them with the new Proline Dual Stage as soon as they release them. Yeah, I've spent a bit on upgrades, I can't help myself, but I'm loving this truck. Cheers from NZ ... eh!
Steady Foams made a huge improvement in my truck. I also have a Reef's Beast 2000 steering servo and the Bowhouse RC slipper pads. All are solid recommendations.
4:27 Why wait? We were lucky to have an SCX6 join us in the Ravines recently and (bone stock) the thing was an absolute beast -- deep snow, hardpack, glare ice, ice-cold creek rapids -- no problem. Almost made me want one. Maybe the slider kit. 😁
Love my SCX6, I've done a few upgrades so far, custom rock sliders, fender deletes, Powerhobby servo, Injora wheels, and other small things like rock lights and vinyl decals. Hopefully someday they'll make some Patagonia tires for the 6. It's truly an impressive machine!
Been running the Hirax tires and the beast 1000 for awhile now and love it. Drilled out the stock servo arm and made it work withe servo. Added the Vitavon steel driveshafts, shift servo mount and shock towers. The only disappointment is the stock body. Was driving it on some short cut grass, rolled it slowly once completely over back on to its wheels, and punch a side mirror into the body and cracked the other side where the mirror mounts. Now running with no mirrors, Shoe Goo, drywall mesh, and thin tire wire to patch the holes. with your recommendations. going to pick up the slipper pads and the wheel faces. I love you channel and your cinematography is always impressive. Thank you for all your hard work.
Removed all the sap from the axles and transmission and put marine grease. Made my own two stage foams from Crawler Innovations with tools I designed on Fusion360. I opted to do the slipper delete from vivaton. Just dropped in the Reefs2000 and can’t wait to hit the trails. The Hyrax will be in the future I’m sure your rig is looking great Matt!
I finally got to see one in person, wow is it huge, nine of us went trailing the other day and I was amazed of the performance of it. It went over stuff I didn’t think would make it but went over stuff like nothing. Appreciate as always you sharing
Glad you showed this with the slipper pads I thought it was the motor surging the way it sounded but the slipper makes way more sense I'll be getting those on the double
Thanks, I'm not keen on swapping axle housings, the plastic at this size makes a big difference over an obstacle due to the weight. I will see what else they have though!
I recently added a few great parts from treal, front axel, servo mount, front and rear braces, and center brace, and most important servo towers front and rear! All parts are gunmetal! They have so far worked flawless still using factory servo. You are very correct that the factory servo is lacking but my budget is blown for a while treal products are in my opinion the same caliber as Vitavon! Choose not to do the rear yet cost is the only reason. Love the channel next is modifying my used new to me MC8 by cross
Foams are definitely on my list of things to change. I’m still running the stock servo, just powering it with a castle BEC, that has helped it a lot, I also beefed up the panhard mounts on the chassis and axle with DIY mods. I’ve also bound it to my DX5 rugged and like the ability to change esc settings on my radio.
@@scalebuildersguild thank you for making great content. You’ve given me plenty of inspiration and knowledge to tackle things I wouldn’t have considered doing before.

Why not the 3Brothers RC 3D printed Anti-Foams? Not going to spend $400 on a servo....they bumped their head at that price. Way better option...why not a $225 Spektrum S9120BL 1/5 Servo? It makes 1454oz of torque at 8.4. And it's still fast.
Funny you mention that servo. That's what I just replaced, and it's night and day. That servo has some torque, yes, but it's very loud, and very slow. I couldn't drive with it.
The track bar / panhard needs better mount support. Aftermarket aluminum front shock towers make a big difference stiffening the frame side panhard mount. That, servo, and the anti foams are what I have done so far. I’m about to be putting one of the 8s black jackets by 3BrothersRC in though 😬 Ordering my mamba monster x tonight!

@@scalebuildersguildSorry, I'm really not hating on you, I know this thing is expensive because I own one. I didn't mention a BEC, because I haven't actually run into that problem. List some of your favorite cheap upgrades here! Thanks for watching, and your comments!
@@scalebuildersguildSorry, I'm really not hating on you, I know this thing is expensive because I own one. (btw, it's 1200 us, not 1k, big difference) same servo off of Amazon, 300 bucks , as opposed to 500 for the reefs. Also, there are simple mods to stiffen up the steering, very low-buck. Some guys can afford an additional 3 grand to put in these guys, I cant. These trucks are awesome, but it is a bit more expensive than 10th scale
@@brokennib1 I always appreciate the feedback, and yes, I should have added a "+" after my $1000 statement. The Reefs servo I have is $389 on Amain.
@@scalebuildersguild ooo cool! they were 500 when the truck came out, so that's very cool. I got an ARGFC servo for 289. It's a bit of a sticker shock when you first start shopping around. I just want this truck to stick around for awhile, not get priced it self out of the market. It's just an awesome scale and platform!
OOPPPSY! You have the Reefs 1000, I was thinking of the Reefs 2000 ! My bad! OOOPSI-DooDLE!
This truck needs portal axels.
What makes you say that?
@@scalebuildersguild I think it would give it a more bad ass look. I know on a truck this big portals are not exactly nesassary but it would look awesome
1/6 hilux body 🤔🤔🤔? Hmm maby yes
No i don`t have a scx6 . i want one , but i can not afford the price for one , since my rc budget sets at 500 dollars for anything new or large scale .
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
That's what she said. XD
Check out my moa fcx24 build!!! Let me know what you think
That servo is $380 USD wtf
I’d buy it if they warranty it for 5 years for that price.
@@fredstah714 and I can buy eight $50 servos for the same cost as One…
Swee Jesus! $389! For a servo! You guys have WAY to much money! HaHa! You lucky buggers!
Better get used to it everything is going up in price
Hyrax? Eww. I liked seeing the KM3s better.
Everyone's got an opinion!
