I have no problem sharing, but the recipient of the invitation can't seem to open it. I shared it over iMessages but when they opened the link, it leads them to their Reminders app but the shared list is no where to be found on their end. Any ideas?
This video could have be 1/3 as long as it was. The information was valuable. However, getting to the point in a more reasonable time would have made it even more valuable.
When I shortened my videos I was criticised for not covering the context, when I added context I was criticised for not getting to the point fast enough. In the end I decided to just go with the style I like videos to be and accept that some people will not be happy.
@@Carl_Pullein Fair enough. Thank you for filling me in on the context.
Sharing these lists is much easier than I imagined. Thank you for putting this together. Sometimes I debate if I should use reminders or notes for some of these tasks. Which do you prefer and why?
It depends. A task will go into Reminders. An idea will go into Notes. The cross over is with projects. Often I will keep project tasks inside the project note and a single task in Reminders telling me to work on the project.
Great video, thanks. Just to note that reminders has to be enabled in iCloud to be able to share a list
Thank you for the heads up, Tre.
iOS update 14.7.10 doesn’t give u the same option to share your grocery list
and now on 15.6 still not an option. disappointing apple
Thanks again Carl. Question - when you set this up to share a grocery list, a what point does it continue sharing. If I add coffee to my grocery list, is that immediately shared? I would generally leave the items on my list until I go to the store which could be several days from now. Would that person that I share with receive a list every time I add an item?
For my wife and I, we don't get any notification that the list has been updated, it just updates. So when either of us are at the supermarket, we can be confident that the list we see, is the updated list.
Hello! I've just stumble on your videos regarding ios reminders app guide! It was so useful. I am very excited to try these out with my new ipad soon! Notion does not seem to be working for me. But thanks to your guidances on reminders and calendars, I am so excited to try it out soon!
I have a question; with the latest update of ios 14, the option of sharing the reminder does not show how to share the link with. Nothing comes out with any options, just blank. I added my partner's icloud email but he did not received any notification nor acceptance notification. How does it work now? Is kinda confusing.
Also, I realised when I add new list, I cannot change icon as well, only the colors and the title
Kind to spare me a few minutes on your reply?
Much appreciated! Thank you in advance!! Oh and yes you've just earn a new subscriber! Going to head on to watch the Draft app guide now
Hi Sharon, To share a Reminders list with your partner if you open the list on your iPhone, you will see three dots in the top right hand corner. Tap that and you will get the option to share. I've found the best way is to share via Messages. That way your partner should be notified immediately. Hope that helps.
Great video, but still not possible to get a notification when something is added to the "shoppling-list" - right?
Right. That's exactly how I want it too.
How to make those list to begin with
Hi Carl, if i try sharing my shopping list, does the person receiving need to be on an iOS, MacOS or iPadOS device only?
What about windows, google and android users? How are they able to view the list?
If it can be viewed over iCloud.com via any Chrome, Firefox web browser, does the receiver need to register/sign up for their own iCloud account even if they don’t own any Apple products?
Yes, ideally, the person you are sharing the reminder's list with should be using an Apple device. However, you can access shared lists via iCloud, but it's not a very good experience.
I shared it but my wife can’t seem to see the list
Mine doesn’t show
Brilliant!
Thank you.
Do you have a video that shows accepting the reminder list? My daughter gets this weird link to verify it's ok to open list and then when she clicks, it just says sorry couldn't verify
I don't, I'm afraid, Janice. I'll look into doing one in the near future.
Thanks Brother
You're welcome.
On my phone the “add people” doesn’t appear. I was wondering if there is anything I have to do prior to this?
Hi Lisa, which version of iOS are you using? In iOS13 if you tap on the three dots in the top right hand corner, you should see "add people" in the list.
@@Carl_Pullein Hi Carl, it is iOS13 and when I tap on the three dots the only options thats appear are: -Name and Appearance -Delete List -Select Reminders and -Show Completed.
@@dwjLisa Ooh, I don't know then. I checked my wife's phone (she has an iPhone 7 running iOS 13 and she gets the share option too. If you have a local Apple store maybe they can help.
Same here! I finally found that in my iCloud settings, notes was not selected. I turned it to green, and now I can add people!!
@@andrearhc2847 thank you!! This was the only helpful thing I found on mine for my same problem
Trying this in 2022 and none of these actions come up. am i in the wrong app or did apple do away with this feature
Hi Alex, in the last iOs update, it changed to "Share" from the 3 dots; it no longer says "add people". That's the only change.
How do you copy a list that has been shared with you? I want to modify things on the list, but my friend who shared it with me doesn’t want to see the modifications. Can that be done?
Hi Monette, I did a little testing and there's no option to duplicate a list. I'm afraid the only way would be to manually copy/paste tasks to an unshared list.
The image that pops up on yours after you touch “add people” does not show up on mine. (Yes, I have iOS 13.)
Turn on the reminder in iCloud settings then it should work (Settings -> iCloud -> reminders toggle on). I also had to an update inside the reminder app.
Thanks, Angela for sharing that with us. 🙏🤗
For us who are (still) outside the Apple universe... what app would you use as a shopping list? Evernote, Todoist or a dedicated shopping app?
If you are an Android user, I'd use Google's notes app. It works with Google Assistant so you can add items to your shopping list using your voice. (or invest in Alexa)
For Android users, Google Keep is the easiest way to share a list.. You can even share it with iPhone users if they download Google Keep. Create a note, select "Show tick boxes" if necessary. Use the "collaborator" icon at the bottom of the note to share it with others. You may need to refresh the list so it shows changes others have made - just pull down from the top of the note.
Tried sharing a list but doesn’t work when recipient opens the list. Tried several people in family. Reminders opens but no shared list.
Me too and no videos to explain that!
@@janices8871 me too
Do they still have share for your list?
Yes. From the three dots at the top right of your list, it's the second one down.
When I tap the three dots the adding people isn’t an option 😢
It's the second one down and says "Share list". Tap that and you should be able to do it.
Can anybody say why the list is not synchronizing between the two lists?
Hi Jay, there could be a multitude of reasons why. Check that the person you are sharing the list with accepted the invite, that their iCloud Reminders sync is turned on etc.
Great you show me how to share my list. How do my wife open up the list 😂 I still can’t figure out out how that works lol
Hi Alex, your wife should see a notification telling her you have invited her to join your list.
No longer current, update video please
What if my wife has apple and i have samsung. Not much success in this?
Not really no. I would choose a third-party app such as Todoist for that.
@@Carl_Pullein ha. Typical Apple. Oh well.
My list doesn’t want to share to another iPhone user
Sorry to hear that. There could be any number of reason why.
Old information. Doesn’t work anymore on iPhone.
It does, but you need to make sure that your list is in iCloud, not another account. And the description has changed to "Share" now.
Why spend 3/4 of your video explaining what the video is about and why you want to share a list?
People search for the title “share list” they know why they came. They know why they want to do this. Why Torture them further? And then include failed attempts? This video is excruciatingly annoying on so many levels. Why insist on wasting peoples time?
Hi Paul, sorry you feel that way.
way too many repetitive words and too little useful info. What if I want to share the reminders between my phone and my iPod?
Sorry, Jarek.
For 30 seconds of information, you have to watch additional 6 mins ıs repetetive sentences and tongue clinching.
Thank you for sharing. I'll take some time to watch some of your videos so I can improve my skills.
Dear god, GET ON WITH IT! Far too long winded
Sorry you feel that way. My style. My video.
