I have a shopping list with a set of fixed items that are marked 'completed' as I don't need them and which I mark not completed if I need an item. Is there a way to do this using SIRI?
I've recently started using Siri with Reminders and love it. I also have a Grocery shopping list. Adding items to the list is easy but is there a way to check an item off the list using Siri? I haven't found a way to do this.
@@Carl_Pullein I haven't seen anything about that being in IOS 18 but it's certainly possible they will sneak it in. I think I will put that in as a feature request.
I was using Reminders and then I found out Todoist before 3 years ago and then I ditched Reminders completely. I think Todoist does all the things that Reminders does, so, Todoist can handle all professional and personal task management.
Hello-I did like this video because I needed to learn more about how to use reminders with the assistance of Siri. Any chance you have another video about reminders/Siri, maybe for a beginner and not so advanced?
Hi Carl, I hope that you see this post cause I could really use your help. My wife is starting to lose her memory to the point she forgets to do stuff in her morning routine. We were wondering if there is a way have Siri read out a reminders list one by one. She need it to read one, wait until she completed that task and then read out the next one until the list was complete. I don't think it will, but I figured I would reach out and ask someone who knows more about Siri and Reminders than I do.
Hi Jim, as far as I know, that would not be possible at the moment. However, rumours abound that Apple have been doing a lot of work in the AI field and we may see something that might do what you need later this year.
Not yet, I'm afraid. However, you may be able to set something up using Accessibility, though that will have Siri announcing everything which will likely become very annoying.
That depends on which device your using. On the iPad / iPhone, all you need do is long press on the icon and tap Choose “Show list info”. From there you can change icons and colours.
I have a list named “Household”, and in it I have a grocery few grocery stores, so these stores have a “note” sub-section. I can’t make Siri to add notes into these sections. If I say the word “note” it does send it to “Notes” app. Any suggestions?
Hey Carl. Nice video. Why do you ultimately prefer todoist even though you use Apple products and it doesn’t work with Siri? I looked at todoist and it seems awesome but the ability to make a reminder while driving with Siri and Apple reminders helps me keep honest about “never storing things in my head” instead of my system. How do you manage this without voice support and todoist? Thanks
Hi Carl! A very very useful video, thanks. It is still not possible to "call someone" directly from the notification pop up when you set a reminder like "Remember to call 'someone' this afternoon" (for instance). This was a great feature and I cannot understand why Apple made it disappear...
- A nice video. I enjoyed it. I have a question that I hope you might be able to answer for me; can Siri handle more then one item at a time ie. if you wanted to add Milk, eggs, and bread to your shopping list is there a way to have Siri enter the three items on individual lines with a single Siri call?
This isn’t a perfect way to do it, but I ask Siri to add items to a shopping list and then It will ask if I want to create a list with that name. For example I’ll say “add flowers and mulch to my Home Depot shopping list”. and it will ask if I want to create a list with that title. When I say yes, it itemizes the list and then I can go back and add additional items one at a time later. That’s just an example. It might be an easier way to initiate a list though.
if i say hey siri remind me to book somethng on thursday and dont specify a time she says that she will remind me on thursday but doesnt specify a time. she used to say 'what time would you like to be reminded at on thursday?' but she doesnt seem to do this anymore? am i doing something wrong?
We should have the ability to add new reminders to the top of a list or at least be able to sort them from newest to oldest. The longer the list of reminders the more you have to scroll to find the most current ones.
I didn't know about adding a web page to a reminder nor the email trick. Neither appears to work with Tick Tick but I might do a little bit of experimenting. All it does is add a reminder on Tick Tick saying "add this web page" but without the link. I should say, I use Tick Tick for my reminders and it works well with Siri. It "pulls through" items from Apple reminders to Tick Tick. The "magic" words are "remind me" for a reminder and "schedule" for a calendar entry on my Google calendar.
So its impossible to add several items at once at shopping list, right? So useful. Imagine i have to add 10 items so i have to summon siri 10 times right?)
thats what I need cause the beep alert is not enough. it would be awesome if the beep alert goes off and siri reminds you like "hey John, I'm reminding you to call your mother" . donno why apple dont do this
I wish Reminders would link up better with Calendar. For example, if I setup a Reminder for a certain date it would be nice if there was an option to have that show up on my calendar.

These reminders have always sucked. It's just a popup on your phone that is very easy to miss especially if it's time sensitive . With alexa it's more like an alarm and it speaks and tells you the reminder and my apple watch vibrates and rings. These reminders suck and are not reliable
Thanks for the helpful tips on how to use Reminders!

Nice video, Carl! I can get a web page in Safari to 'share' it's info/link to the Reminders app but I can't get it to work with Siri. Any suggestions?
Hi Steven, when you have the web page open, just ask Siri to "remind me of this" - that should do the trick.

Sir Carl is it possible for Siri to announce 📢 reminders at a set time if so please make a video 👍
Sadly, no that's not possible.

Not yet, I'm afraid. However, you may be able to set something up using Accessibility, though that will have Siri announcing everything which will likely become very annoying.
Hi Carl , stupid question but how do you create the icon to suit the list IE: a star that is white in colour and the circle is red. Jeez I feel silly.
That depends on which device your using. On the iPad / iPhone, all you need do is long press on the icon and tap Choose “Show list info”. From there you can change icons and colours.
Thank you for the informative videos you post. Is there a way that Siri will read a reminder aloud at the designated time?
Not automatically. You would need to ask Siri to read out your reminders for today.

You will need to say the specific note name. For instance: "add bananas to my grocery note" (make sure you use the exact name of the note.
Or say list instead of the word, Note
i had reminders app on my iphone and somehow it needed downloading again and it would work with my apple watch too now and set reminders.

How to add reminder which can ring in particular time ex 6:30 pm using Siri?
Just say, :"Hey Siri, remind me to .... At 6:30pm"

I wish Reminders would link up better with Calendar. For example, if I setup a Reminder for a certain date it would be nice if there was an option to have that show up on my calendar.
I think the issue with that would be duplication. Apple's thinking would why do you need to see it twice?
The dots used to mark reminders as complete should be swapped with the checkmarks used to select reminders.
