Aerosmith - Janie’s Got A Gun (1989) (REF Series) (Reaction)
Original Video: • Aerosmith - Janie's Go...
Fil, Stephen Tyler's vocal, so unique, as you say. Never actually saw them live, they were damn good on stage, so I'm told....Love the 80's keyboard stabs in this.
#QcumberSquad #Aerosmith - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
Great live! Seen a couple of times.
One of 4 concerts I attended. Awesome.
What you mean you don't know who's abuzing her? it's literally the lyrics " what'd her Daddy do?......."
Aerosmith's song/video "PINK" is definitely worth a listen. Steven's voice in it is Awesome. It's always awesome but this song is just addicting!
My bridal party wore hot pink, black, and white and I had them walk down the aisle to Pink! Such a great song!
Thank you so much for bringing abuse to the forefront, Aerosmith. You helped me through a very difficult time. You taught me how to cry without shame.
Here is the back story about the song and the video.
“Why did Steven Tyler create Janie’s Fund?
Steven has long had a desire to help with this issue, leading back to the 1980s when he was in a program for his personal recovery. There, he heard a story of a woman who had experienced incredibly painful and debilitating sexual abuse as a child and how those gruesome events put her on a path of suffering that eventually led to her abusing drugs to mask the pain. When Steven wrote the song “Janie’s Got a Gun” in 1989, he told the story of a young girl who is abused by her father. Over the 26 years since that song was released, Steven says he has often thought about what could have been done to prevent that kind of abuse. What kind of help could Janie have received that would have prevented her trauma? How often does sexual abuse like this happen in our country? What can we do about it? With Janie’s Fund, Steven is using his big voice to give a voice to the thousands of victims who haven’t had one. He feels this is his life’s work and legacy.”
Aerosmith was fab rock for my generation! They started Janie's Fund after this, for abused girls.
So you listen to a lot of rap? Check out Aerosmith's 1975 "Walk This Way" and tell me that they weren't progressive. I rather think THIS song was the first "rap" song before any of the rappers. AFTER you listen to this song, THEN check out the 80s version with Run DMC...who heard the song and wanted to sample it. Watch the video of it. This song not only signaled Aerosmith's comeback, but also elevated DMC.
