The music video of Requem for my Harlequin is great. I also love the song War from the first Alan Wake game, Daze, and Angel from the Alexander Theater sessions. The acoustic Alexander Theater sessions were filmed and recorded in 2020, when the theater was available for them. The theatre has amazing acoustics and Marko's singing shines there.
Also the music video of the song/musical from Alan Wake 2 is great, especially if you like quitar solos. The song is a part of the game as you play through it. It's called Herald of Darkness.

I have been a fan for almost 20 years now and they rarely make a bad song. The lead singer Marko is outstanding but the rest of the band is pretty amazing too.

Poets of the Fall (which is a Finnish band) has been featured in many Remedy Entertainment's games (a Finnish game developer for example of the first two Max Payne games, etc.). In Remedy's Alan Wake 1 & 2 and Control games, the band is featured as an in-game rock group with an alternative name, "Old Gods of Asgard". And they've composed many original songs (as Old Gods of Asgard) for the games that correlate the story beats.

Buddy of mine from Finland turned me on to them a number of years ago. Poets of the Fall is an almost criminally underrated band outside of Europe or Russia. The US has slept on this band and it's a damned shame. You should check out them doing this song live and you'll absolutely marvel at how good Marko's voice is. It's virtually unchanged from the recordings live.

I think it's great that Poets of the Fall is getting more visibility again. I think it's because of their alter ego band Old Gods of Asgard and the success of Remedy's game Alan Wake 2. It won multiple game awards last year, and the music was at a big role in the game.
POTF was actually formed because they met at Remedy and started to make game music. This song was their first big hit, and the video was later awarded as the best Finnish music video of all time. They are still going strong. Their albums have different styles from softer alternative rock to songs with electronic influences and then more metal with The OGoA. The latest POTF album was one of their best, in my opinion.
They are great live aswell. I saw them a year ago when they were on their 20th anniversary tour. I'm waiting for them to start touring again, as they've been having a break from touring after that.

I'd say "Late Goodbye" was the first big hit after featuring in Max Payne 2. Of course it depends on how you define "big".

Would recommend you to watch their Acoustic Alexander Theather Sessions ( Angel is one the best ) and the live Moscow gig.

@@BestFriendsReact Yes. They have an alter ego band called Old Gods of Asgard that's incorporated in video games e.g. Max Payne, Alan Wake 1 + 2. Their guitar player released a solo album recently. Now they are working on new Poets material. The guys are special, they can mix and match different genres without sounding bad. And Old Gods are awesome!! They have one album.

Daze, Live in Moscow, Alexander Theater sessions... Lately they are probably most renown for their alter ego band Old Gods of Asgard, that performs in Alan wake and other Remedy Entertainment games. Their songs are more metal: Herald of Darkness, Dark Ocean Summoning etc.

They have so many absolutely fantastic songs to choose from. Please react to Daze mv, Requiem For My Harlequin mv and Angel live from their Alexander Theater Sessions. They are a Finnish band and this song is from their 2006 album. They are independent, so a complete artistic freedom. Marko Saaresto has such an amazing bass-baritone voice with classical training. Thank you for the reaction.

Carnival of Rust is just such a ride. Poets of the Fall is so consistently excellent as a band; I have my favourites like everybody does but they don't really have any misses, just some stuff speaks to you more than others. If you're more into the metal end of things, I'd probably say you could check out their alter-ego band "Old Gods of Asgard" where they do some of their harder stuff, like "Take Control" (good GOD, that's another sort of ride) but also "My Dark Disquiet" under the PotF name which is another trip of both music and video. That one is also creepy as heck, especially if you pay attention to the lyrics as you go.

Haunting song. VEVO suggested the video to me when it was new and I was floored. I immediately looked them up and downloaded the album. All albums from them are gold. Too bad, unlike many Swedish artists/bands that also sing in English, Finnish music don't seem to make it to North America. I have at least converted 1 Canadian into a fan (besides myself).

I enjoyed your reaction to this band and song. They are from Finland and as it happens, so am I. So I wanted to recommend this other finnish band to you, symphonic metal band called Nightwish. They have been around since 1996 and have a huge catalog of great songs. Its hard to choose one but I asked the help of my fellow Nightwish fans and came up with this one, 'Storytime'. Live version from Wacken 2013. Hopefully we will see your reaction to it someday, would be great :)
