Hogwarts Storm Cloud Ceiling | Harry Potter Bedroom Makeover

- The Harry Potter bedroom transformation continues, as we take a regular white ceiling and make it look like the cloud-filled ceiling of the Great Hall in Hogwarts Castle! We used LED lights underneath a layer of Poly-Fil for the clouded sky effect! Complete with lightning effects and floating candles controlled by a wand! I see now about led!
I recommend adding some air purifying plants to absorb the off -gasses. You can call them herbology homework. Snake plants can be called parseltongue plants that have protective charms on them. Added coolness factor is the NASA info. on plant air magic. 😊

Wow this looks really great, congratulations! If I may make a suggestion, you can get candle flickering LED bulbs that may fit in the chandelier, that would really finish off the ambience.

The really like the way the light from the chandelier adds contrast to the polyfil. I've dabbed watered down acrylic to darken polyfil to make it look better in the daylight, but it usually looks awful when backlit. I've used the same brand cheapo LED strips from Amazon and they're really reliable. The lights themselves don't get very warm, but when the kids forget and leave them on all day, that receiver can get pretty toasty.
I’m gonna double check my receiver now, but I did leave it away from the poly-fil and plan to make a shelf or box for that stuff to be hidden in.
Love it. I've a stairwell that leads down into my classroom, and I think it would be perfect for this. Just an FYI, the link to the whole project on your site is incorrect.

how does dust play into having clouds in the room. Are they easy to clean off? Do you have to do something special to get rid of or prevent dust slowly collecting on them? Or do you just accept face and let it be there
Pretty much just accept it. Some of it has fallen off and I’ve had to replace and resorts in parts.
Kindly, how did you get the wana to interact with the lights. My girlfriend is leaving for a couple days with her daughter. When they return, I'd love them to walk into the dining room to find this!
I didn’t do anything really. It just happened. But the wand really only dims the lights and it only has the one button.
How much polyfill did you use for what amount of square footage?! Looking to do this in my room, thanks!

Ive seen people saying stuff like this is a fire hazard. How did you make sure it was safe? I want to put it in my daughters room, but that made me apprehensive.
Yeah, I did testing by leaving it on for a day to make sure nothing got warm, including the little controller box. All stayed cool!
