Remaking a Classic X-Men Cover
I have come to know some amazing makers doing their best in the fight against children's cancer. I'm helping out with Makers for Saint Jude. Which I like to think of as joining forces with a group of rag tag bunch who each have their own special skills. And no, I'm not talking about the X-Men! But I made this awesome replica of X-Men 11 and you can win it and help kids fight cancer at the same time!

We moved into this house a couple years ago, and never really liked the boring brown in our downstairs bathroom. So we wanted a quick makeover that would completely change the look of the room, but on a budget. So I will attempt a bathroom transformation under $500 and get it done in one weekend! Me personally, I would've made a fiberglass mold for a job that big or better yer a 3d printed mold, then you wouldn't have to buy the $50 foam pumpkin. And a cheaper silicone way would be to buy it by the 5 gal bucket. You probably paid more for the six kits than one 5 gal bucket of A B. I think also on the fiberglass mold side of things I would've made it with an inner half to make it hollow then dump bulk 2 part expandable foam into the mold. And carving. Hot knife. It's the easiest way to cut foam. And they are cheap.

    A really fun way to make carve-able pumpkins is to use a beachball, mold release, water and gloves. One beachball can make hundreds of pumpkins...if you're careful. Spray the outside of the beachball with mold release. Spray the foam all over the beachball leaving the inflate nub and about 3 inches around it foam-free. Here's the important part...USE A SPRAY BOTTLE TO MIST WATER ALL OVER THE WET FOAM AND LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINUTES (really soak it thoroughly). Use gloves (wet down with water, too) to lightly press the foam to form the outer pumpkin skin. Use more water if it sticks to gloves. Let the foam cure, then deflate the beachball and pull it out through the opening in the foam.

    • @dadcrafted
      @dadcrafted 5 дней назад

      I believe that’s how my brother made his giant pumpkin head. I just thought it would be expensive to buy a bunch of beach balls. But maybe cheaper than how I went about this?? 🤣

    • @helenmoon625
      @helenmoon625 9 часов назад

      So trying this - in Australia we don't get the foam pumpkins at all and to buy the real ones is ludicrously expensive - you guys have pumpkin patches we have a pumpkin bin at woollies -$30-40 each

      @LockerNockers 8 часов назад

      @@helenmoon625 omg...expensive! I've been making my own for a few years now. I get 1 or 2 real ones to carve but, I love making them. You can also use balloons instead of beach balls.

    If you feel like carving pumpkins from scratch in bulk, Make a road trip to either Tractor Supply or Lowe's. In the back of some stores they keep the 12 x 12 x 18 Styrofoam cubes they have left over from their metal trailer shipments. Ask the store's managers about them, sometimes they are more than happy to get rid of them. A little Drylock and paint, you can make anything, cemetery posts, tombstone, pumpkins, etc.

    A couple alternatives when building is to use a dremel tool with a router attachment instead of the hot knife, and you can also use wooden dowel rods instead of rebar to secure them in the ground if you dont have an angle grinder. They really are a fun project and are cheaper and better made than store bought
