Turbocharging this 2006 Subaru Impreza wagon was such a big project that I needed a little break for a while, but it's time for more boost! Before I can increase the boost, I gotta get the air/fuel ratio in check!
In this video I:
Installed 565cc fuel injectors
Customized my stock rom for bigger injectors
Flashed the ecu (using a $10 vagcom cable)
Installed a center dash gauge pod
Went on a test drive!
Software used:
Romraider (logging and tuning)
ECU Flash 1.30 (flashing ecu/reading the rom)

Your channel has helped me a lot with other things too but being i have the exact same type of subie this gives me a REALLY good idea as to what i should do and expect when i decide to turbo mine. Only difference will be i will be doing 2.5i heads on an STI block. 😎👍 keep up the great content!
I too have the same car with car injectors and a pump with a nasty all motor tune. It’s a sleeper but it ain’t enough. Definitely need forced induction

I use vaseline for fuel seals or o-rings.
petrolatum based lubricant. I use it for fixing turbing engines. I mean motor oil won't hurt but petrolatum is just what I am used to.

turn up your returnvalve for your gas pump ,it even helps on a n/a car with smaller size injectors !

how long have you been running 10 psi?
@@s14theron about 5 months of daily driving and daily pulls. I was at 8psi before that. I recently updated my tune and once I fix my boost leak at my bov flange I'll be going for 14psi. Should be around 280-290whp with that.

Awesome work man! I have been following this series closely and will definitely continue to do so. I have an 07 NA subie with 4eat which I plan on boosting too. I do have a few questions:
Which ecu do you have?I have a JECS ECU, and I've heard that they are pretty much unflashable in every way. Do you know if thats true?
If you were to boost a 2.0l, what things would you have to do differently?
Any help would be great, thanks for your time in sharing all this info!
FINALLY, been waiting to see you upload subie content for a long time. I know you like the cheaper solutions route but you should either do a very easy rebuild of the cheap parts you get like the turbo or get them tested before you just go blowing up your poor ej
Don’t know a good remedy for richer fuel mix except turning up the fuel flows. It could be the fuel pump is stock for your stock injectiors. Know what I mean?? Great stuff gg

HEY man getting ready to turbo my 08 hatch... did you replace your stock front o2 sensor with the aem wideband? if not where did you place it, was there a bung for it? Thaks!!
I'm anxious to see if you can scale the MAF.. Get to the point where the AFR's are safe and it makes good power.
I bought an '05 that I want to swap my sohc hybrid ej257 into, but I want to be able to tune the thing with the factory ECU if possible.
Was cool to see that the injector size could be modified and it idled well in your '06
You need a blow off valve bad as well and please go get that thing professionally tuned.. that way they will get ur timing back in sink.. and they can set ur fuel for each cylinder and gear do yourself a favor spend the 100$ and get a good tune on that thing.. they can even put a two step on it..

You are better off with stock wheels over the shit ass wheels most people buy and bend the first week.
If you ever have to do any injectors on any car ever again which I'm sure you will take out the fuel pump fuse or relay and run it out of gas then you won't have all that gas coming out of the injectors and the rail. Now your car is going to stink like gas and you're going to stink like gas for the whole day when you didn't have to. I would like to know more about how you get into the ECU on a subaru.very interesting I would like to know more
You should really get those flow tested, a good Quality injector is way more then 45 dollars

Do I need a spear adjustment tuner to make the injector work?
I just started a supercharged build in my 05 impreza outback and was using this video for refrences. Have you adjusted timing at all and if so what adjustments have been made. Scared to pop the engine once i get the pulley spinning on my M62 Supercharger.

Hay there i have a 2007 subaru impreza 2.5i na automatic ... do bad injectors make clicking noise and can it cause the car to run ruff and eventually in my my case die. I checked my battery 🔋 and alternator and there fine, I also replaced all my exhaust gasket but that wasn't it either🤔 i was hoping u might have an idea to what caused my subie to die

Ok i'm pretty much ready with everything to turbo my 03 ej251, I'm getting conflicting reports that my upstream stock 02 is already wideband, is it? you bought the aftermarket wideband afr right? does your ecu read that too? help!!
The stock o2 is wideband but I have heard that they don't sufficiently read afr under boost but that's okay because that's what your primary open loop fueling table is for. I bought the aftermarket aem uego wideband just to have an accurate afr gauge that I can see all the time, it isn't read by the ecu

Been waiting for the tuning episodes and been watching to ask what rom can i use for my 2001 Subaru legacy gt limited
None. I've got my 02 lgt limited that's turboed. You either need to stay 6psi and use a rrfpr and map clamp or you need to get a speedyefi standalone ecu to tune the car.
@@OTBspeed6 i got a 10:1 fmu wrx injectors and a voltage clamp, i just wanted to know before i did all the extra work. what did you use if i may ask.
@@ghosty500r 10:1 rrfpr voltage clamp and walbro 255lph pump stock injectors. Unless you switch to a standalone ecu you can not use different injectors it will run horribly
@@CuttinChris really i sent vortech an emily they said if im using stock use 8:1 but if i got upgraded injectors use 10:1. btw how much boost you making and how much whp you think you at or have you got it dyno tested?
@@ghosty500r 10:1 at 5psi is 50psi of additional fuel pressure on top of your 45psi base stock fuel pressure. Stock 280cc injectors will fail above 115psi fuel pressure so 6psi on a 10:1 is about the limit. And with that setup stock injectors map clamp and walbro 255 you will make about 184-200whp. Mine made 184whp 210ftlbs at 5psi on a ej255 shortblock so 8.5:1 compression. Right now I am on a standalone speeduino ecu and have 565cc injectors and a vf39 and at 10psi I made about 240whp 274ftlbs. If you are using your stock ecu you can not swap injectors the car wont run worth a damn. Only way to swap injectors in your model and year is with a standalone ecu.
Shouldn’t there be a vacuum hose on the end of the bov? Should do a vacuum leak test that could be part of the lean issue
U need a 255 fuel pump
Be careful with those ebay "New Denso" injectors. The quality control is very hit or miss and the spray pattern on many of these ebay injectors are terrible compared to the real thing.
I actually had one stick open on my Civic. Made a huge plume of smoke out the tailpipe, killed my cat, and hurt compression on that cylinder (down 15 psi from the other 3)

Qais Mousa wrx are pretty common around here though sti are a bit more rare but I see them around sometimes
