That's actually not true. If you don't have a bumper reinforcement a crash will be way worse. Instead of the reinforcement taking impact it'll be your radiator support and frame rails that'll take the hit. The reinforcement dampens the impact to try to reduce the amount of impact the structural components will take. I own an auto collision shop so I do this stuff every day.
ThatCarGuy P71 Yes and no. Just upgrade your fuel pump and stay under 8psi your afrs will be fine. You can upgrade injectors and add a fpr if you really wanted to.
@scott organic check out Rev9 FMIC kit on ebay its around $270 n has all ull need. There are cheaper ones but wouldve needed much more cutting n fabricated, also the Rev9 intercooler I thnk is way better quality, and is done w/minimal bends, cupplers, reducers etc. Rev9 FMIC kit
The issue is that the intake manifolds are different. The WRX has mounting points for a top mount intercooler, and a different position for the the throttle body. It'd be more costly to buy another intake manifold and hood for the scoop, at that rate, putting it behind the bumper would be cheaper, easier, and probably even better since you can fit a larger intercooler.
Not to spoil your excitement or anything but don't plan on that motor lasting long. 251's are pretty garbage as is, let alone when you cram 7+psi into them. Props to you for tackling the project but I think you need to read up on this stuff more before you pull the trigger. You've built a grenade and that is the nicest way to put it.
I totaled my R56 Mini in a 30 mph crash sooo yeah.. Don't worry too much about that bumper

Official Gold Guy Moto: "FUGG IT SEND IT"
Great video can't wait for the next installment...
Half the intercooler back was covered so only half the cooling was done. Summer comes and motor is going to cook 100%
Sounding good
You may want to check out Might Car Mods. They have a ton of various videos where they mess with intercoolers in their builds. Great vids by the way!
TxGamer13 I love mcm I have watched tons of their videos!
dude, you really need to put a new fuel pump in and better fuel injectors
please tell me you plan to re-box in that part of the structural front bumper you just hacked off...
Xavier ehh not really, I replaced the structural part of the bumper with an intercooler. Good enough for me
Just put a strut tower brace on it, you’ll get whatever rigidity you lost back. Be safe, if you gotta hit somethin don’t do it head on man!
oh my god! what breed dog is that its adorable
Tune?...better injectors? Fuel pump? DYNO!!! Hp???.
nice bro
how much did the turbo kit cost in total with every part
Have at least $1500 saved for a project like this.
shout out to you brotha
First comment!!!!! Good effort buddy!
Is the car tuned? I got a 98 legacy gt 5 speed I want to do this to just wondering if I'm gonna have to tune it or anything to keep my afrs right

You’ll need a tune forsure or ur car will run like shit
link to it?
Way to many couplers and reducers
Just got a 2009 Subaru Impreza 1.5L. is there anything I can do to it? Like install a turbo?
Wouldn’t recommend it
Niiice
Tune?
jeggers65 not yet lol, stock ecu is working fine for low boost for now
You couldn't source a wrx top mount?
Indiana Street Scene I didn't really want one lol, I just like front mounts better, also then I would have needed to cut a hole in my hood
Goldguy true. Just thought it would be simpler, other than the hood part

Elliot Hahn good thing my car has an ej253 and also good thing I'm only pushing 5psi boost
Elliot Hahn I have read up on this stuff man
They'll last as long as its properly done and tuned correctly.
Oh my god just buy the real thing!!
Waste of money lol it ain’t gone be worth it
