Ideally you should have drained the oil, removed the sump, drilled your hole then welded a boss onto the sump. The way you have done it means that the thread on the brass hose tail is only gripping on about 2mm of metal. Also the teflon tape that was on that fitting is now going to be floating around in the oil, I suggest using Loctite 577 or similar, teflon tape is not the right sealant to use in engines. This is not hate, just advice from an automotive engineer.
Jamie Maskens I had to end up changing that setup anyway because it was leaking, I just ended up jb welding the fitting in the oilpan and it ceased to leak. Also I drained the oil and ran some more oil through it to clean it out, it should be good now!

For the oil pressure sensor T-fitting, it's actually not a US imperial 1/8-NPT, but rather a BSPT (B for british, which is the same standard used on european and japanese cars) thread that you need for correct install. The imperial fitting has different number of thread per inch (27 instead of 28), so it might leak oil a little.
I really hope you guys like this series, I have had a lot of fun making it. If you are just here for the motorcycle builds, don't worry, there will be more of those videos as well!!
Did the uel headers you bought compensate for the n/a engine cradle? I have a n/a 2006 legacy and one of the main reasons why I’m putting in a tribeca engine instead of a legacy gt engine in is the engine cradle is in the way of the uppipe also cost
Can we get an update on the wagon I’ve been using your videos to boost mine it’s actually the same color I’m just trying to make sure I make it last and reliability is key
I liked how you made this a tutorial -like video, however, If I may add something, for the Oil drain/return tapping. Drain the oil, remove the oil pan, and then drill, tap, and screw in the fitting. This will minimize ANY shavings straggling in there, and possibly getting picked up by the oil pressure, and travelling through your engine.... jut my 2 cents ;)
Ej 20s (the engine here) can be boosted to 300whp on stock internals as they are essentially detuned performance motors. The only things you need to turbo them are anything involved in a turbo kit and that's it
Those ports you added between the throttle body and filter will not actually have vacuum. They will draw enough air for the PVC system but not for the vacuum assisted brakes.
I figured that out the hard way lol, no i didnt crash into something but yeah i had to do a workaround for the vacuum systems. That will be in my first drive video which will be out in a few days. Stay tuned man!
Where’s the header install vid? I’m interested because it looks like you used a reverse direction turbo header set to avoid having to pull the engine and swap crossmembers
since he removed the stock intake manifold and made his own inlet pipe with the hoses what happened to the open hole that the old intake manifold went into?
Hey I am curious as the the reliability afterwards and total cost? I have a 2011 imprezza and I am considering getting an ebay charger myself but I wasnt sure if the juice is worth the squeeze
Prolly mak 180-200 on stock ecu ( considering subies have good torque I would suggest a lil larger turbo at low boost. Over all it is a nice video, and this is helping me out a ton but i saw you changed the fuel pump have you also changed the injectors and what are you using for a tune on the car atm ?

I wanna turbo my jetta. But this looks like so much work. I know me and some friends could do it but I can’t find any headers or doe pipes for my car so if I’ll be able to😔
I think that's a little high mileage for 4k personally. If it's in good shape and you are okay doing some maintenance on it if you have to then go for it.

GoldGuy thanks so much for the reply dude. That’s good to hear. Buddy of mine just got a 07 impreza he wants to turbo also, mines a 2.2l dual port. Anyway, great work!
You have to find your own parts, all the ones I bought are no longer on eBay. Most of the stuff I used was either universal or for the same year wrx version and it required some modifications to fit. Good luck!

what everyone else does in the NA/T subaru forums is do this into the valve covers its easier and since its alummin it screws right in
I was going to say something similar. Thanks for pointing that out.

You could have drained the oil first, remove the oil pan, then on a workbench drill the hole, tap the thread, then MIG or TIG Weld that on.
