    The later M90 superchargers off the 04-07 GTP came with a drive-by-wire throttle body. Not sure the throttle flange would match that Gen 3 blower, but the 04-07 blower (gen 5 m90) are more efficient. Also, there is a tool out there to machine the snout down to run a smaller pulley, and all you need is a drill. As someone who has messed with a lot of GTPs, that blower sounds like its spinning about the stock speed for a 3800, so you can definitely go down a couple sizes on the pulley. The 3.6 is going to be way more efficient at moving air through than the 3800 could ever dream of being lol. Awesome build! Thanks for the inspiration.

    • @BlackthumbTV
      @BlackthumbTV  10 месяцев назад +36

      Thanks for the info! I had also considered driving the blower off a custom pulley on the alternator to fix the issue, but I'm trying to contain myself as I don't think this engine can handle much more (given what I've seen from the turbo guys). The drill-tool sounds quite interesting though, I'll have to keep that in mind just in case.

    There is alot of space to fill with boost. It would have taken longer but separating the big pancake manifold into individual runners would have helped power and response drastically.

    • @BlackthumbTV
      @BlackthumbTV  9 месяцев назад +9

      It doesn't make as big of a difference as you'd think. I tuned a Miata with an intercooled supercharger kit, where the intercooler was after the supercharger/throttle body, meaning it would see both boost and vacuum. It did make a difference in both time to build boost and time to build vacuum, but nowhere near as much as I had anticipated.
      This setup builds boost as fast as you can open the throttle effectively, and change to Decel/vacuum delay isn't noticeable vs the stock manifold.

    I ran an Eaton supercharger @ 14 psi peak boost. When i wanted more, and had already pulley swapped, and since im not "crafty", i opted for a 100 shot (dry) of nitrous oxide activated at w.o.t. as we know, superchargers make heat, heat removes horsepowers, nitrous is a bit chilly, the cooler air charge makes all those extra horsepowers and torques

    LOL that super trying to rip the motor off the mounts is hilarious!! i've never seen one with the pully so far out from the engine! now you have to go twin charged of course so you get the low AND high RPM boost. don't stop until the rods are sailing out sideways lol

    That was very well done, I like it! You forgot to mention that it couldn't have happened without the super cool high-tech AC aluminum TIG welder! I have a couple of those superchargers laying around but I never did anything with them yet because I don't have the super Hi-Tech AC aluminum TIG welder

    • @BlackthumbTV

      There's a number of key tools that got me through this. The standalone ECU, the welder, the injector flow tester... But the welder was the most recent acquisition and I got it in hopes to do this project!

    If i may: the design is very practical and definitely works for your project. However, if you wanted to improve the design of your super charger intake, you could make it more arrow like to help improve the ease of air flow.
    As it stands, the intake works and very well at that. The air thats being pushed through it, though, has a LOT of right angles to go around in order to get into the engine. It may not provide much more boost than what you have here, though it would definitely be easier on the super charger in the long run.
    Love to see DIY car projects though! Great job!
