Correction: the rune enchants appear to have restricted base types, I misheard Mark in the Q&A last night. Full live stream vod: ruclips.net/video/lSozazdvYyw/видео.html
Flicker Strike was utterly gutted, you can't use multiattack with move skills any more and that includes Flicker Strike. When you take out a lot of the damage from bezerk and totems and passive banners and all the flat damage from just about every support gem and the flat added damage from the skill gems. The damage ''buffs'' look a hell of a lot less like buffs and more like changes / nerfs, Boneshatter for example got only 40% more effective damage but had a very large flat damage value removed from it. Only the skills that got more than twice the old effective damage value really got buffed, several in fact got nerfed. Defences across the game were also nerfed a lot, lowering the skill points and affix slots we have to put into damage. I suspect most melee builds will feel weaker this league than last. The buffs to endurance charges and new base types should off set some of the pain from the defence buffs, we won't really know how much until a few days into the league.
I dont think he has specifically said it was going to be weapon only, only that they had restricted categories. For example doomfletches mod goes exclusively on 2 handed maces despite coming from a bow.
As a permanent noob, liquidating single divines to chaos has been a nightmare every league. Infinite whispers without replies, eventually resorting to begging someone to buy it in chat and maybe getting a pity trade. Currency market will be an absolute godsend.

I don't believe Mark said the runesmithing enchants would go on the same basetype but would be on fixed basetypes. Like the "additional curse" the image has hovered is for weapon types that have never had that mod while it comes from Doedre's Damning ring.
@Subtractem, I am gonna yolo this league and league start a flicker strike warden. negative mods via Kalandra are back so that should make Doryani's easier to get to wild negative lightning res numbers. New Shock is gonna be good for boss fights. I'm just worried about Frenzy charge generation, maybe it wont be viable.
if i recall correctly the taming worked with multiple instances of ignite, i don't see why it shouldn't work with shock stacking, unless they change it specifically before the release.
the mobile game aspects of the city building mechanic are interesting but im already anticipating being very behind on developing my city bc i work crazy in-person hours for my job 6 days a week. im hoping that before too long other players will have good guides for maximizing the little time i do have to play
I'm hopeful that with the magic find changes, this will level out trade league so it doesn't cost a ridiculous amount of divs to get anything. We shall see!
My gut is telling me shield charge ignite elementalist is gonna be really good. people have been playing it for a while and are able to get dot cap with proper investment. but it got included in the +75% ish buff sweep for melee so should be able to get some insane ignites with reasonable investment
I wanted to try out SSF for the past 2 leagues and now with that ship delivery and random items with gold, recombine and kalandra mirror stuff looks good for ssf. I will wait some days for people to figure out stuff and servers to be stable before I start, I might go for bleed melee with gladiator! I'm hyped for this league and fresh for poe since this league I didn't play after the first month lol
especially with the trade changes, removal of MF, the league mechanic and the changes to t17 monsters, playing a "shit build" seems the best time now. i feel a very low level of FOMO when slowly crawling through maps at your own pace when there is no 6 man group making mirrors before i reach maps.
Oro’s Flicker strike, Cyclone, Dual wield Glad Lacerate(?), or maybe Frost blades Warden. Idk tons of good stuff this league, been waiting for melee buffs for a while now lol.
I've been playing since Breach league and I still don't feel confident enough in buildmaking to make my own stuff. Even tho that league reworks tons of things I love (bye melee totems, yay possible oneshot tectonic slam). I might give it a try once PoB is updated !
@substractem Do you have any tip when creating builds to itemize that "works" and scale well into that specific build ? I have come to be comfortable with the idea of creating my own build, I have some good grasp on the passive tree / ascendencies, but man do I struggle with items since I know next to no uniques that are build defining. Thank you in advance (maybe worth a video ?)
an easy way to start is opening pob and listing uniques by full dps or whatever stat you wanna optimize. also search for you skill or whatever tags match (e.g. melee, warcry etc...)
"Just play it as a video game" Thats how I'll take it this league. If all else fails I can always do Pohx RF or something else well tested to get my 40/40 challenges done
@subtractem I get why you suggest to Yolo the league start and try to just play the game. However, the game is so complex that even with my 4 or 5 league experience as a "dad casual", I still don't think I understand the basics of build defense enough to get to mid mapping. I'm worried I will waste my limited time doing what you suggest and not even being able to get through the campaign. Could you do a video about build defenses and strategies for staying alive when you are "just playing the game"?
Phys taken as ele/chaos was big deal for my armor builds (now have plans for Holy Relic build) and frankly - no idea where to go with defences (block? 90% cap so yeah, but it's not 100%)... I hope that changes to Quantity (and bonuses) don't cause nuclear meltdown like in the LoK where they didn't even bother to mention these changes in patchnotes
Interesting to pull all these game comparisons for the league mechanic and not mention where they pulled it from. Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem had pretty much this as its core endgame progression loop - set up buildings, combat expeditions, trade missions, then go clear a mission and the timers all progress. I know the game as a whole didn't wow people, but the city management minigame was pretty fun and I'm glad to see it taken further.
I think you misheard Mark about the enchants. It sounds like they go on very specific weapon types that are different than the uniques. I'm betting the Nimis and HH enchants go on very weird weapons.
The runesmith mods don't go on the same weapon type, the exact opposite actually. They go on something else. The doomfletch one for example goes on an axe or mace, can't remember. Edit: weapon not armour
I'm a bit worried as a Witch and self-cast Spell player. Like...I love this for Melee Players, but I feel a bit I got a bit shafted with little to show for it.
@@AuRelion77 I mean, maybe there's something there with Added Damage scaling past Level 20 and Warden could be an interesting new Elemental Casting ascendancy too. I just really love Witch and while I have to review the Skill Tree changes, defenses could be rough and losing Divine Blessing is rough too.
Maybe you missed it or said it slightly convoluted but DD can no longer explode spectre corpses meaning it lost basically all of the damage you got from custom spectres (Herald of Kitava etc.) its dead.
Warden seems super super fun to me. I cannot wait to try it out. Regarding your last point about trying builds, we can now respec points with gold, so is this perhaps the best league for experimenting ever?
I am not going out there and randomly try make something myself. Went horrible wrong each time i reached maps back when i played liek that. Heck , I cant even reach most endgame bosses while using a guide lol. I get stopped by "lessor" endgame bosses i cant get passed since i die too much. (my reaction time is too slow) Often it takes me 2-3 week alone to reach T16 maps where i can run them with stabile outcome each time. But i still use 10-20 min per map.
I don't think it would, since it's not tagged as melee, experienced herbalist might make it work depending how it's coded. shield crush should work since it's melee

1- Hands down best thing, currency exchange!!! This will hep casuals turn lower tier currency into gear as crafting andies will buy those mats.
2- Melee rework is great
3- Easier ways to cap block on the passive tree is very welcome!
4- Actually happy they left Archmage for one more league.
5- Back to basics removed!
6- New chisels are great!
7- THANK GOD THEY FINALLY NERFED GROUP!!!
Hey subtractem, just wanted to congratulate you on your new PoB feature coming live with the new patch.
I'm pretty sure One Direction have a song about 3.25
"I'm gonna blast all day in the best league ever".
Something like that anyway.
“Im not going to play anymore because I can have 10+ mirrors weak one” 😂
sub great call at the end , i’m literally gonna pick a melee skill and just yolo it ! if there was EVER a league to do it , it’s this one, or it seems that way anyway .. i’ve been waiting to go off meta for a league start ,
Mate, you are my go to channel for all my caster needs, you did entice me to play ranger a few times but im not playing melee for any reason, atleast go with warden over melee. (who are we kidding, you will end up with a witch sooner or later :P)
I can't believe that I'm excited to league start as a bleed gladiator in year of our lord 2024.
I love that the glad nodes aren't locked into attack damage, actually looks like an interesting caster option...
I absolutely love that they removed the item quantity
if i recall correctly the taming worked with multiple instances of ignite, i don't see why it shouldn't work with shock stacking, unless they change it specifically before the release.
the mobile game aspects of the city building mechanic are interesting but im already anticipating being very behind on developing my city bc i work crazy in-person hours for my job 6 days a week. im hoping that before too long other players will have good guides for maximizing the little time i do have to play
Thoughts on Hallo Palm Ice Crash Waden? As a starter? Does the MASSIVE BUFF to Ice Crash help with Hallow Palm?
especially with the trade changes, removal of MF, the league mechanic and the changes to t17 monsters, playing a "shit build" seems the best time now. i feel a very low level of FOMO when slowly crawling through maps at your own pace when there is no 6 man group making mirrors before i reach maps.
Oro’s Flicker strike, Cyclone, Dual wield Glad Lacerate(?), or maybe Frost blades Warden.
Idk tons of good stuff this league, been waiting for melee buffs for a while now lol.
I already know what build I'm leaguestarting :)
So excited for this league
I've been playing since Breach league and I still don't feel confident enough in buildmaking to make my own stuff. Even tho that league reworks tons of things I love (bye melee totems, yay possible oneshot tectonic slam).
I might give it a try once PoB is updated !
Sounds like a super fun league, but also seems overwhelming with all of the added mechanics for us casual peeps with little time to invest.
"Just play it as a video game"
Thats how I'll take it this league. If all else fails I can always do Pohx RF or something else well tested to get my 40/40 challenges done
Planning something melee this league probably. Last time I played melee was in ritual league, really excited for the reworks
From what I got, both what they said and the screenshot, those enchants are for weapons ONLY.
Thx for the quick patchnotes.
Colt to fire, ignite, Glacial Hammer of Shattering, perfect agony, marleye's fallacy ... Berserker?
I have vague ideas of running Elemental Hit of the Spectrum with Warden but haven't checked viability yet.
I think you misheard Mark about the enchants. It sounds like they go on very specific weapon types that are different than the uniques. I'm betting the Nimis and HH enchants go on very weird weapons.
18:45 Stacking shock with Taming wont be a thing. GGG already said they are going to change Taming and update it on patch notes soonish.
Do you think the buffs to bane and ED will put it back to pre-nerf levels? Looks like they got ~ a 20% buff.
sadly it's not enough
I am still wondering if we can enchant uniques or chance rares into uniques with an enchantment on it.
The runesmith mods don't go on the same weapon type, the exact opposite actually. They go on something else. The doomfletch one for example goes on an axe or mace, can't remember.
Edit: weapon not armour
specifically weapons. it was very clear and the crafting ui even shows only weapons.....
@@Dirty__Dan meant to say weapon type. Anyway, they don't go on the same weapon type they're found on originally.
Warden Herald Of Ice with the secret Forbidden Ascendancy passive? Maybe with hydrosphere? i think i will be cooking this league.....
"We're gonna keep this short and sweet" *looks at time on video* 24 minutes?!?!?! I'm still here for it though lol
I'm a bit worried as a Witch and self-cast Spell player.
Like...I love this for Melee Players, but I feel a bit I got a bit shafted with little to show for it.
I mean.. melee has had the shaft for all of like 1 or two leagues. You can always try something different. Or just find a way to make things work.
As a warframe player I'm used to realtime timers, it can be a good thing imo.
The currency exchange is no auction house because there are no auctions. It is just asynchronous trade.
Looking forward to the Warden league start as well
It's definitive now, I'm putting more work in PoE than in my real life
When snap uploads his 6 man guide before the patch notes every league 😃
I'm divided between a frost warden or block CWC divine retribution. So much fun shit to try
Do you think you will revisit the Cast While Channeling Poison Soulrend Pathfinder?
I mighty update it for people that are interested, I got asked about it a lot today.
Maybe you missed it or said it slightly convoluted but DD can no longer explode spectre corpses meaning it lost basically all of the damage you got from custom spectres (Herald of Kitava etc.) its dead.
I really want to try out bleed stacking flicker strike gladiator or lacerate gladiator.
Jumping the boat and doing it. Warden Wild Strikes incoming as my starter
Man i was considering slams (Ground or EQ) but Flicker, i love it for speedmapping
How do you think this will impact your cats while channeling build?
Warden seems super super fun to me. I cannot wait to try it out. Regarding your last point about trying builds, we can now respec points with gold, so is this perhaps the best league for experimenting ever?
For those that like experimenting it’s never been difficult. Sell 1 t17 map and you respec your whole character. Literally 10 minutes of farming tops.
I hope GGG buffs Chaos DoT spells before the new patch releases. They do need big buffs, and ideally, some better passive tree/ascendancy support.
Kinda want to yollo Warden as well, looks squish but maybe can conpensate with the right tinctures.
Are we getting a skill reset again? I did a slayer build with totens so it seems that i need one lol
If we all took a drink every time someone asked about bane during the 7 hr video.....
so quant on gear is gone but also grouping doesnt add quant anymore?
Get fucked Magic finders, so hype
totally agree with you
I rarely do MF but i totally disagree.
agreed MF is shitty design always has been its only in the game because "it was in diablo 2"
@@saltiney8578 its not a shitty design. Its a top end avenue that adds another level to the game.
@@SCHTRAM It was such shitty design that last league was MF hell and people consider it worst next to Lake of Kalandra, stop lying to yourself.
min action speed to bosses is now 50% from 30% which is a massive buff to freeze
*up to 50% action speed reduction instead of 30
Im feeling something maybe like sweep gladiator or something melee with a paradoxica and aegis aurora going for lucky block.
what's the difference between the item gambling merchant in Settlers and Gwennyn from Expedition? isn't it the same?
Gwennyn is more limited, looks like the settlers one has more options
Love the energy yolo
Can you collab with one of the melee warriors alkaizer etc, for a melee build with shield?
Guten Morgen ☕ I'm ready to "yolo" this league 🥳
same as every league im gonna go in with like 5 builds i like, start some nonsense and find out. this league i might have 8 or 9
I am not going out there and randomly try make something myself. Went horrible wrong each time i reached maps back when i played liek that.
Heck , I cant even reach most endgame bosses while using a guide lol. I get stopped by "lessor" endgame bosses i cant get passed since i die too much. (my reaction time is too slow)
Often it takes me 2-3 week alone to reach T16 maps where i can run them with stabile outcome each time. But i still use 10-20 min per map.
Im thinking about playing spectral shield throw of shattering warden. Do you know if sst works with tinctures?
I don't think it would, since it's not tagged as melee, experienced herbalist might make it work depending how it's coded.
shield crush should work since it's melee
I'm gonna yolo full stoopid tri elemental trinity Warden Dual strike, with all 4 of the elememtal/ailment ascendancy nodes!
Warden -Oath of Winter - Glacial Hammer incoming ☑️
