I had to remove a section of about 2 minutes regarding a Salvage Bench that was revealed during a recent event in LA because it wasn't revealed during the announcement last night. I tried reaching out to GGG to get confirmation that it will be in the game, but haven't heard back after waiting for almost 6 hours so I cut that section out instead. Let's just say that if it is added in the game, it makes the level of deterministic crafting even higher Check out my guides on Mobalytics: tinyurl.com/4wxcwpnu
Thanks for trying to find this out Lolc! Hopefully we can get something like this back though perhaps it's for the best if not. Curious to see how the crafting evolves in EA
I am pretty sure you are talking about salvaging items with wanted modifiers to deterministically add that modifier onto an item. Empyrian talks about this mechanic in his recent poe2 video.
I didn't find it simpler, I just found it better as a whole. More engaging and without the need of praying to the RNG gods while melting our fingers with so much clicking to craft our items. 10/10 !
Really hoping they lean more into deterministic crafting. PoE1 is the giga RNG slam and pray crafting game. Let PoE2 be mostly deterministic. Especially since they have said they want to appeal to a wider, more casual audience and be new player friendly. Its a good start. Really hoping its great. Its also a great sign that theyre actually giving us currency with the expectation to actually USE the currency. Which is a foreign concept at this point to PoE1 players.
I'm incredibly excited to play Poe2 , this is everything I wanted and more. The art/art style , graphics, spell effects, ost , monster/boss design, changes to the systems, skill gems out of gear, in game wiki, better explanations and more , it looks amazing The bosses in poe2 are so well done, souls like with good hitboxes, mechanics. I love that you can dodge and the bosses in maps don't just melt I bought the EA pack for Poe1 in 2012 after 4500h , here we go again in Poe2
I'm absolutely stoked for the new crafting system. I'd say I'm around a mid level player, can usually eke out 30-50 divs in a league, and because of that I've pretty much always stayed away from high end meta crafting. The risk of annulling a suffix was too great and made me disinterested in the advanced crafting the high level players do. This new system feels way way more interesting. Those omens are probably rare, giving you a reason to grind ritual or grind currency to buy them which will let you SAFELY craft without bricking an item you have been working on. It feels like GGG want the floor to be raised up where crafting pretty good items isn't that difficult and then if you do want to get into higher end crafting, there's more protections from outright bricking (high level players will still corrupt and vaal orb for the truly nutty items). Definitely a a fan of what they have shown so far.
If vaal orbs can be expesive in early league, they cannot have the div exchange value, because it's only used once in the crafting loop. This means few vaal orbs early league (and high value), but loads and loads later in the league, as the burning usage is linear and not exponential (so low vaal orb value) How does this sound ?
@@alexisvuaille4113 yes but the crafting loop also changed, now you pretty much you use one of each currency with the exception of exalts, so the only scarcity factor is the scarcity of the item itself, AKA how difficult is to get. Based on what I got from the Reveal and QA, exalts are not particularly rare but Vaals are. In any case is just a guess this is not a hill I'm willing to die on.
@@germalganis The Omens will be high value because they allow you to be more targeted with the crafting. You'll still need to keep adding and removing mods until you hit something good. Vaal orbs will only ever need to be used once per item so they won't get close in value to the better Omens.
awesome video, thanks for this and can't wait for more, and counting down the days till poe2. super-happy about more deterministic crafting, the poe1 crafting was always too much of a gamble for me because I am a casual player and was always too weary to spend divs on crafting.
In old poe1 we dont have any bench, so it isn't necessary. But i think ggg will make something similar in poe2 Also, the simplified crafting is good for normal player, the rich player control the market by craft mirror class, that make more currency than map framing. Of course you can make money if you spend time in hideout and craft(if you know how) but most of us just want to make a build and play the game
I'm loving the direction of crafting GGG is currently heading towards. It's more of a "Crafting" instead of "Gambling", and crafting always deterministic.
yeah identifying items needs to go for sure. its an unnecessary archaic mechanic. would also be great to have ground loot filters to filter for specific mods
@EyesFireable you can keep identifying without requiring a currency for it. Just have a permanent scroll of wisdom be something you're given at the very start of the game. Its a waste of time and energy forcing people to pick up scrolls and make sure you have some in your inventory.. Poe is the only game left that does this. The least they could do is give you a permanent one.
@@WCFactBreak agreed for the 1st part. As for the id scrolls I don’t think we have to cut ‘unnesessary’ things because actually many things in a a game are like that, travelling, killing mobs before the boss etc etc but the add to immersion and I think that’s good
Veteran here. I do not like althou respcet crafting in poe 1, and never bother to learn it. It looks like a chore and feels like i have to read for math. Wayyyyy too much things to undrestand and to have knowledge. i think this new method looks perfect. actually something with depth and not intimidating.
I'm in a similar situation. Played a ton of PoE1, rarely did any crafting because it just felt like it was better to just save currency to buy items I wanted instead. The changes do look like they'll be better to engage with, so I'm actually looking forward to doing some crafting, which feels weird to say.
5:55 there is in fact a crafting bench, where similarly to Last Epoch you can deterministically craft up to the highest tier of a mod if you have sacrificed enough items with that mod on it previously, at least thats what was shown in Empys video
That was the part that I cut out of the video before I released it. Unfortunately, GGG has confirmed that that WILL NOT be in PoE 2 on Early Access, possibly never, so don't count on it :(
Can items become lower tiers? eg. can a rare become magic by annulment? The most important step in PoE2 crafting is the upgrades since that is when you can apply deterministic, fixed mods through essences or transmute table Normal -> Magic Magic -> Rare Essences stack, so you could aim for 3 essence mods by using an essence to upgrade a essence: normal -> magic. augment a second mod. That is IF a annul can return a rare to magic.
really exited for the crafting system, always felt extremely limited in poe1 from not being a "pro-gamer" gamer needing lt a bazilions orbs to get 6 sockets, and then getting them linked, and then the right colors for the combo you want .
I think they finally found that thin line between giving casual players a chance to actually craft good, even great items, while also keeping the obsessed(joke) players engaged at high level end game stage. Personally if the crafting system would've stayed the same I would just keep playing D4, as I do not want to struggle too much, but seeing how PoE 2 will look it made me buy the early access pack, I'm impressed with their work.
The standard currencies that will replace poe1 chaos & Div cannot be league mechanic exclusive drops, so omens are out of the way (but they will have a lot of value). My guesses for div replacement in economy : Easy guess : divs will stay where they are because rerolling mods values + omen will be a spam to fine tune and finish an item Maybe : scouring will be super rare, to spam crafting on low drop base types Random : A currency not revealed yet will have the poe1 Div drop rate and a matching crafting power
Diablo person here...man this sounds so perplexing BUT I am also very eager to learn and play the POE2 early access. Already bought on Steam so come Dec 6, I am concerted 😂
This system is much simpler than what we had before but I know it's very confusing still lol. Luckily I also know why it's confusing and will have guides that explain it to new players who lack the foundational knowledge for this to make sense :) I have a mobalytics guide on item modifier basics that would be a good start and you can find my guides linked in the description
I know it seems perplexing but it really won’t take long to get the hang of it. Being able to change around the stat nodes on the passive tree + the jewels you socket in armor + essence crafting is going to make experimenting with gear crafts much less punishing. As someone who has bricked easy crafts to some of the harder crafts over the years in PoE 1, I’m excited to actually use these systems much earlier than most seasoned players would in the first game.
feel like early access items are mainly just going to be high life/res, I'm pretty sure we don't have any unique mods like influenced mods so I feel like items are going to be pretty boring early on
I'm worried that without scours and alts, so much stuff is going to get bricked. If I have to go find a special omen, an item from the end game to do basic crafting, it feels really bad.
I think it's more of an issue of looking at it from the perspective of what good gear looks like in PoE1 instead of what good gear looks like in PoE2. A x3 T1 mod item in PoE1 is considered a bricked item 1 day into the league, meanwhile it probably is the new standard in PoE2 until powercreep sets in. I think they want 5-6 optimal mod items to be chase for now.
On the omens - I see this as a lot more tedious method of crafting than using metacrafting mods on your own bench - I'm guessing you will be required to do a lot more inventory micromanagement and trading to acquire said omens.
I on the other hand, very much enjoy POE1 crafting, and honestly I don't get why POE2's crafting is MORE deterministic. Runes, sounds like a dedicated crafting bench affix; Salvage, sounds like scraps/wheatstone with 1 extra step; and essences, while literally a "fire regal / life regal / xxx regal", isn't that just lock affix then harvest aug? Finally omen, sounds like just a glorified lock affix+annul. My point is, it sounds like many elements are already in POE1, albeit expensive (2 div per), but the ones you mentioned are not new functionality, so I don't get why these will give more determinism. I get the excitment of a NEW thing, but I don't think this is a BETTER thing.
One other thing is, recombinator is unironically making ground loot much more useful. I'll probably ignore an item with a single T1 affix that I need, but with recomb, I can just yolo annul until that affix is isloated (need a few tries but highly likely
Yeah if you buy the $30 pack to get access, you'll get 300 points with which you can buy 10 Normal Stash Tabs, or 7 Premium. Just wait til they go on special (once every 3 weeks) so you can get more. During specials you can 6 Tabs for 110 Points, which will leave you enough to get a Currency Tab (60 Points), and Map Tab (120 Points). :)
Am I crazy when I don't see any advantage of the new crafting system in PoE 2? Like everything what is presented as "new" already exists in PoE 1 and nobody crafts like that a I think there is a reason why. You don't have to use alterations if you don't want to, you can just go with transmute+augment (sure, transmute can add two mods, but that is not that big difference). So, without alterations you will need a ton of white bases to hit mods which you want. Even with the new essences you will need more bases, because for example if you want life and you hit life regen with the new life essence instead, you are f... and you need a new base because you can't reroll or scour. Yes, you can anul, but I expect anulments to be much rarer. I like runes for sure but that's about it. I really think that at the end you will click less but you will also wear much worse gear. Just imagine crafting +1 to all skills amulet with the new system and the PoE 1 weightings...
Making crafting accessible for the entire player base will be a huge win for GGG. POE1 crafting absolutely sucks for everyone who is not in the top .01% of the player base or isn't in a crafting group. I remember seeing somewhere a while back that all the high-end crafting in POE1 is done by only a handful of people/groups. This is horrible for the game, and I hope that is a thing of the past. One of the primary reasons I love Last Epoch is because I was able to craft on all my own gear and get to end game with that gear. Gear on the ground actually meant something. If it wasn't something I immediately needed, it had affixes that I would need late for that character or on another character, whereas in POE1, almost everyone buys every single piece of gear they wear after the campaign is done. Loot didn't matter, only currency mattered. I do not enjoy playing Path of Currency. If GGG wants to expand their player base, then easier crafting is a step in the right direction.
Your understanding is quite poor. There’s nothing stopping players from earning currency and crafting their own gear. These crafting groups are for the mirror items which are completely impossible for an individual to make and not worth the investment whatsoever. Most people buy their gear because they put no effort into learning basic crafting.
I saw the affix shard crafting system being featured in Empy's video too, just for what its worth. I'm incredibly hyped given GGG's incredible reveal. They literally couldn't have done it any better. However if I had to raise one concern, it's how chase rare items could be rather unexciting given how deterministic crafting seems to be and the lackluster depth of mod pools within vanilla items. There are seemingly no influences, synth mods, fractures, double corrupts, enchantments, that can make an item truly shine. A BiS rare could be as simple as, t1 life life life res res res, and perhaps a socket vaal. I harken back to harvest league, where 6xt1 items was as cheap as 10 divines. I don't think this is exactly a good thing.
That's the part I cut out of the video yeah. I chatted to Empy to find out if he was okay with me using it in this video and he said that it might not actually be in the game and we needed to wait for confirmation from GGG (which didn't come after waiting quite a while, although maybe I was a bit impatient). I hope they add that As for the addition of all the other mod types -- I'm sure those will be coming, and I'm almost certain some will be in the game but just weren't shown. I don't want an item editor but having more control is really cool
this is good! more time playing, using, and creating fun builds, less time spent trying to figure out how to even afford to play the build to begin with. deterministic crafting is great! we want more 6xt1 items being 10 divines would be the perfect CAP for great items and then of course go beyond that price with influenced, synth, double corrupts, etc. But getting a good basic 6 mod item with the mods you want shouldnt be this crazy hard thing to do. The interesting results and items come from uniques, enchanting, corrupting, etc. Its not interesting failing to get just a basic 6 mod item over and over and over(even if not all t1, just the mods you want in general).
It looks like rune enchantments won't have as high modifiers as the randomly rolled ones. And because of that, crafting is still gacha hell. Last Epoch still has better crafting for the end game. It looks like the campaign might be fun, so I might go through that once or twice. But otherwise, I'm just not interested in slot machine-based tedium.
I dont know how I left it out, but there are also endgame socketables called Soul Cores with special mods that are powerful and can't be found elsewhere :)
New crafting system is pure garbage, x10 times more casino then poe 1 Midwits who have no idea how to craft in poe 1 somehow think it's good for some reason
Would be rad if you explained your thoughts instead of just insulting everyone who disagrees with you. PoE does have more systems and some more control in certain circumstances, but it looks like we have a ton here. There was one section I had to cut which was true 100% deterministic crafting, but there's still a lot left without it .
Don't worry about crafting being too "simple". How long have we been playing this game. The devs understand the player base otherwise the game wouldnt' be so good. They know you guys want some weird ass meta-meta-esoteric crafting goals. But there is no need to advertise such things as of yet. And probably they would put that type of experimentation into an expansion anyway as opposed to committing it to the base game.
I think crafting need to be very easy and way less powerful. finding gear need to be the way. Doing harder content to get better chance to better gear... Not just make your gear doing easy maps to farm Chaos
finally! I barely used high end currency for crafting until I was near endgame. Finally the need to hoard currency is reduced. Without alteration though the value of perfect rolls dramatically increases since it looks like deterministic crafting is now dead?
deterministic crafting was always dead. poe1 its impossible to create the perfect item in a deterministic way. its pure RNG between Essence and the bench craft to "finish".
@ what’s my job got to do with it lol? Just be wary of people who are paid for interacting with the game they have major bias and they’re gonna say everything’s good
@@dadeee7776 you'd be surprised, lotta people also try to farm "hate" content as well. though PoE infamously is mostly glazers even when GGG refuses to fix issues that the majority despise. Take 3.15 for instance. The majority of people HATED 3.15 and GGG hasnt fixed the vast majority of what people hated that they changed in that league. But a new league comes around and people forget all about it. So is the cycle of Stockholm Syndromed people.
@ yea I mean don’t get me wrong I don’t play the game much, but I want the best for it right, the content creators that sit and just talk up a companies ass aren’t helping be critical when it matters and this goes for situations outside of gaming as well, placing the wool over your eyes is disingenuous af when you’ve got a community following you
@@dadeee7776 Agree. Unfortunately the PoE content creators are all generally part of the 0.1% so when they DO complain about something, its usually something most people dont even encounter or something most people actually want to be different. For instance a lot of them are complaining about crafting being too powerful in poe2, most people WANT more powerful crafting options to make the items they want/need for their builds to function. a lot speak for themselves with the guise that theyre speaking for the community. Though sometimes there is a general consensus Hoping the PoE1 crowd doesnt ruin PoE2 by begging for things to be worse.(i say this as someone who has been playing PoE1 for about 8 or 9 years)

The standard currencies that will replace poe1 chaos & Div cannot be league mechanic exclusive drops, so omens are out of the way (but they will have a lot of value).
So IMO Exalts will replace Chaos, yes.
My guesses for div replacement in economy :
Easy guess : divs will stay where they are because rerolling mods values + omen will be a spam to fine tune and finish an item
Maybe : scouring will be super rare, to spam crafting on low drop base types
Random : A currency not revealed yet will have the poe1 Div drop rate and a matching crafting power
Div is valuable cause of bench meta mods, in poe2 there are no bench
its so weird how removing two fairly minor orbs: scouring, alterations radically changes the itemization of the entire game.

Do we have to by stash tab for poe 2 ?
We get a few for free but extras cost money yeah
@Lolcohol I'm OK with because dropping few bucks for such game is worth much more than most of the games
Exalts are the new chaos? Dat biden inflation
No alteration orbs but still have chaos orbs?
Chaos work differently now in that they remove and add a random mod
@@Lolcohol Ah, got it, thanks! Interesting
Craftiing finally seems managable
that camera quality !
I want better drops, and easier, built-in filter.
Divine and Mirror will still exist
Runewords when? :D

I hope they add that
As for the addition of all the other mod types -- I'm sure those will be coming, and I'm almost certain some will be in the game but just weren't shown. I don't want an item editor but having more control is really cool
this is good! more time playing, using, and creating fun builds, less time spent trying to figure out how to even afford to play the build to begin with.
deterministic crafting is great! we want more
6xt1 items being 10 divines would be the perfect CAP for great items and then of course go beyond that price with influenced, synth, double corrupts, etc.
Looks fun! 😊
New crafting system is pure garbage, x10 times more casino then poe 1
Midwits who have no idea how to craft in poe 1 somehow think it's good for some reason
Oh I don't think its too simple - I think the is phenomenal blend of accessibility and complexity
WHERE IS MA KEY GGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Real happy about the crafting changes.
What I want to know is can you get by without doing all this. I just wanna kill monsters
They reduced the crafting system to "close your eyes and slam" and people are cheering for this? Gotta be an out of season April Fool's joke.
You clearly didn't watch any of the video lol
So who here is still gonna hoard all the mats they can and never use them?
No alteration spam? What am I going to do with my time...
Trans Aug annul spam
I think crafting need to be very easy and way less powerful. finding gear need to be the way. Doing harder content to get better chance to better gear... Not just make your gear doing easy maps to farm Chaos
11/10 guud vid ❤
Of the videos I've seen so far this was the most exciting to date. Great topic
Thank you :) glad you enjoyed it
I like the idea of no crafting bench. ARPGs are about the loot hunt.
I think this is false, I have seen multiple sources of there being a crafting bench. If I recall they originally had removed it but brought it back
There is a crafting bench, it was shown.
Dang, this guy looks so nerdy, a new term needs to be invented just for him!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just remember this guys job is to talk up Poe to keep people interested
What's your job then?
Though sometimes there is a general consensus
Hoping the PoE1 crowd doesnt ruin PoE2 by begging for things to be worse.(i say this as someone who has been playing PoE1 for about 8 or 9 years)
