actually in other parts of India it is called Deepavali including kolkata. but in North India people make every name shorter and so there they call it Diwali.
I remember my grandfather used to talk about his visit to Calcutta in the 70's, every time a party ''In Norway'' got out of hand he would say it's nothing compared to the Calcutta railway station XD. Keep it up! 100!
Kolkata is truly the City of Joy, I spent four best years of my life in Kolkata. The city is full of warmth, joy, culture, and rich heritage where no one is an outsider. Also, you should not miss the Dussehra festival of Mysore, Karnataka. During Dusshera the whole city is beautifully decorated with light and it is a sight to see in the night
In Bengali there is a proverb i.e. "BARO MASHE TERO PARBON" means in 12 months of a year there are 13 celebrations. So in 12 months of a year you can celebrate more than one festival every month. In Sanatani a person can feel the life's journey in every step of it's stay in this world.
I wish you would have come earlier, during Durga Puja tho it's also big but Districts are famous for Kali pujo and Kolkata is famous for Durga Puja, and during Christmas also it's the only city in India which celebrates every festival and pujas and it's visible, also if you come during Ramadan it's very foody time during night. And we also have Jagadhatri pujo few weeks later. One sentence we have in Bengali is 'Baro mase tero parbon' means in 12 months we have 13 festival (actually more) .😊❤ Always attractive videos 🎉.
The city of joy with full of joyfulness. It's feels really good wandering around the streets, enjoying the food and watch pandals where the Kali maa standing in self-esteem. And yes yellow taxi feels nostalgic. You guys had a auspicious moment. Nice presentation!

Next time someone says women are oppressed in India, tell them about Kali or Durga, Godess of destruction, Saraswati, Godess of knowledge, Lakshmi, Godess of wealth and prosperity. We Indians worship women in the form of these Godesses. No doubt there are evil people in India too like any other place but that too is not significant considering India has over 1.4 billion population. I said "we Indians worship" just in general, there are different religions here and they have different faiths and beliefs too and mostly everyone respect eachothers faith, excluding some fringe elements. From where I come from people across all religions participate happily in celebrating each other's festivals. Be it Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas or Eid. Unity in diversity is generally the norm in India.
You should obviously come to kolkata during durga puja. When u see those famous pandals, your jaw will drop- like- 15cm down- ? But I'm telling you, DO NOT come if you hate crowds. I once got lost in front of tridhara (a famous place in kolkata for durga puja).
What a great time to be there in Kolkata celebrating Diwali . We would always miss it by a week or two. It looks like you had a great time with your group. Hope your travels bring you to a place that you can chill and rejuvenate. Harriet and I worry about you. We love❤ you dearly. As always, great video. Jim, Harriet and Yuki Richmond, Va.

Happy Diwali my friend. Indian people and Hindu people all over the world such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Singapore are celebrating the Diwali festival. Indian steets are so beautiful with lights for Diwali just like in Western countries for Christmas
Actually fireworks got banned more or less across the whole of India by Supreme Court this year 😢 Thats why you didnt see much of the beautiful fireworks... In my city, I couldn't buy any fireworks at all ;-;
The scientific reasons for Diwali have been explained.. it's been celebrated since ancient times as winter arrives , so as to keep creating situations where you do not go into depression or lethargy or slowdown during winter months ! It's got nothing to do with Ram or Kali or good vs evil
Mam was er niet bij! Videos lopen vaak wat achter met waar ik op het moment echt ben, maar voor Diwali leek het me leuk om de video vlak na het feest te uploaden! Vandaag is moeders weer terug in de videos. :)

In her other aspect, Kali is the divine mother. The protector. Does the feminine aspect not also include a warrior to protect her children? Kali protects her children/ devotees from evil.
Erm, no. Ma Kali doesn't need any male assistance. She kicks demon arse on her own. Another avatar of Shakti, Ma Durga, was born spontaneously of the rage and fury of the assembled gods as they thought about the depredations of the demons. Every god gave her his weapons, so she is seen with many hands, all the better to carry the very many weapons with. Note that Kali is also shown with several arms. Most of the people of Bengal and some more of the eastern parts of India are members of the third kind of Hindus, worshippers of the goddess, or the female side of divinity, Shakti (=strength), hence Shakta. The other two main sects are Saivites, who worship Siva, and Vaishnavas, who worship Vishnu. Just a caution: nothing stops a Shakta from worshipping Vishnu or Siva, or any of the others worshipping Shakti. Shakti is not just Ma Kali, it is also Ma Durga, Parvati and the other very powerful goddesses. Skip the bit below - it's long and complicated. Exceptions to this, or additions, actually, are those who worship Ayyappa, who is also thought to be a local avatar of Kartikeya, the supposed son of Siva and Parvati, and the war-lord of the Gods (Indra doesn't get into battle much these days). But anybody can worship Ayyappa, and all Ayyappa worshippers are essentially Saivite or Vaishnava or Shakta when they are not getting ready for the pilgrimage that is a major part of the worship of Ayyappa.
Very good 👍 welcome to India and city of Joy Kolkata and I wish all of you very very happy Diwali and kali Mata Puja, enjoy our heritage and your festival, i enjoy your videography, take care all of you from Kolkata namaste 🙏

where is your mom? such a lovely bonding between you and aunty (your mom)..it's rare to see such a bonding in the WEST. mostly people relate family, family values, bonding between family members, lovely relationship between mother-son, father-daughter, mother-son/daughter with eastern part of the world more specifically with Asia....but the bonding between you two quite mesmerizing.

actually in other parts of India it is called Deepavali including kolkata. but in North India people make every name shorter and so there they call it Diwali.
What logic? The names diwali and deepawali are used interchangeably all across India. There is no specific name for specific regions.
lol
That's so wrong
Here in North India as well we use both names Deepawali and Diwali
@@amansingh-fx9lu
Deepawali is the original sanskrit word
Yes, the term 'Deepavali' has a meaning in it, but Diwali I feel is a corrupted form of the original Deepavali.
