He is one of a best tour guide I have ever seen, btw Beautiful video loved it. ❤
Thank you so much! 😊 Avik is truly such a fantastic guide
@@twobetween I hope you've enjoyed Calcutta.
Love From Kolkata Brother i will also sub ur channel❤
It was a brillant idea to get a guide.
3 things... don't try unknown street food ssns guidance. You have just travelled onto a foreign land. The spices, water, oil may not suit your gut.
2, most streets, food, historic buildings, localities in major cities have rich history and anecdotes which only a guide can tell you to make your trip memorable.
3 a guide saves you from random scams and harassment 😊
@@twobetweenI have a trivia for SeungHyun... Bengali or North Eastern food has the closest resemblance to Korean food. 12 yrs back when I started exploring korean food I found it more palatable because of the use of fish sauce, dry fish, prawn, crabs, squids, sea weed, bamboo shoot, soybean paste, pork etc. In North East India pork and hot chili is popular, and we get similar fermented soybean paste, AKHUNI.
Now for the past 8 yrs I easily make korean food at home.😊
Unlike central parts of India, the north eastern and coastal food has large variety of fish and seafood dishes that you can try.
We feel so lucky to have spent our first day in India with Avik, someone so passionate and knowledgeable about Kolkata and West Bengal. We can't think of a better way to start our adventures in India 😊 Which food do you think looked the most tasty? We can't pick a favorite!
*Visit Lakshadweep (Maldives of india)* 🇮🇳
Also Visit Kerala, Himalayan , Andaman islands and Noth East India 🇮🇳
Yes. I agree. Avik is awesome. Fluid in language and knowledgeable
I have watched n number of videos where foreigners visit India and their experiences of it but watching this one, especially because it's my home place, i became so emotional and happy. A big thank you to Avik for being the best tour guide letting you experience the richness of this city 🙏😇 this made my day ❤
Yeah he was really good. But he could have taken you to better and more lavish places to taste authentic Bengali food. 6 Ballygunje place is one such restaurant that comes to mind.
Next time I vist kolkata I will meet your guide and exchange notes...
😊
The best part about eating with fingers is the sensory pleasure of touching the food and licking the fingers. Our skin is the largest sense organ and fingers are sensitive. So while eating you involve all 5 senses, sight, smell, sound, taste and touch 😊
One thing which took my attention during whole video was the person guiding you. Like from his phrases to his vast chain of vocabulary everything was really commendable 😅
Thanks for noticing! Avik was an amazing guide. Best tour guide ever!
@@twobetweenYes, I thought so too. Nice you guys found such a good guide.
Have been seeing a Lots of Avik on the internet touring people.
Good that he could create something entrepreneurial while following his passion.
.
And obviously thanks for visitng my city y'all. Hope you had a good time
He's a great tour guide! Very passionate and informative
And thank you so much, you have a wonderful city! We had a lovely time there 😊
Hey please give me avik fb id?so that I can contact him...what's his full name ?
@@soumikdharsjourney4661 Hi, his full name is Avik Mitra. We don't have his direct contact info but A Chef's Tour can help you out with that. Here's their website: achefstour.com/tour/calcutta-food-tour
You got a good guide...
Undoubtedly You Got the best Guide.....
Being a Kolkatan.... I can guarantee you...
I don't know, who he is.... But, brother you are truly doing a commendable job..... ❤❤
I am very glad that you had a wonderful gastronomical tour to Kolkata. Also a big high five to Avik for being a fantastic guide
Bengali people have very high creativity. I really love Bengali cinema particularly these directors:
1) Satyajit Ray
2) Ritwik Ghatak
3) Mrinal Sen
4) Tapan Sinha
5) Aparna Sen
6) Rituparno Ghosh
I even loved some new Bengali films like Chotushkone, Autograph, Fatfati and Haami. Chotushkone was like Federico Fellini combined with Alfred Hitchcock.
I also love Bengali music my favorite artists are Rupam Islam, Somalata Chowdhury, Mohiner Ghoraguly, Chandrabindoo, James (Bangladesh), Ayub Bachchu, Oishee, Anupam Roy, Arman Alif etc. West Bengal and Bangladesh have some of the best musicians in South Asia.
There are five Bengali music channels which are excellent:
1) Gaan Bangla TV (Bangladesh)
2) Coke Studio Bangla (Bangladesh)
3) Folk Studio Bangla (West Bengal)
4) SVF (West Bengal)
5) Asha Audio (West Bengal)
Those film director you have named are just pathetic where everyone is committing suicide. Those singers are unknown in India. I guess you are from Bangladesh, not India.
@@DipakBose-bq1vv Satyajit Ray? bro really? XD
@DipakBose-bq1vv pathetic?????
They made sick films, everyone is either dying or committing suicides or getting terrible disease. Only sick minded Bengalis love to watch their films.
@@DipakBose-bq1vv ofcourse how do u know bcoz there work has been remake by bollywood industry like 100s of bengali songs has been stolen by bollywood
2:32 that is the Statue of Subhash Chandra Bose because of whom India got its independence.
15:44 that is the place where one of the greatest Indian Subhash Chandra Bose used to eat and share strategy India's Independence to fellow Indian freedom fighters secretly which is not secret anymore.
হ্যাঁ নেতাজীর পিয়াজি
Yes, we felt very lucky to visit so we could learn more about such an important revolutionary
We were eagerly waiting for your Kolkata video, since the day we met at Allen's Kitchen.
Hope you have enjoyed Kolkata and will visit again
Thank you! We loved visiting Kolkata and enjoyed the chat at the restaurant. We hope everything is well with you and your family! ☺️
Absolutely loved the video. Thanks for having such a wonderful chat with us. I am glad you enjoyed our city.
yeah thanks for visiting our city Kolkata also known as The City Of Joy
So no doubt the guide is so good but he is little bit biased to this site of Kolkata (i mean this site known as old Kolkata)
And if you watch the videos of other foreigners who have visited Kolkata, you will see that this guide has taken them to the same places & same spots, same restaurants they have taken you.
Like This guide has shown you nothing of Kolkata Like 000.1% showed you. And please try to visit Kolkata in the morning then you will get a better experience and you can visit some of Kolkata's popular places like Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, Indian Museum, James Prinsep Ghat, Science City - Kolkata, St. Paul's Cathedral, Park Street, College Street (College Street is the largest book market in India as well as Asia), Dakshineswar Kali Temple and many more. And It's just that the old site of Kolkata are still left in the Mordern Kolkata. Your mind will be blown when you visit modern Kolkata like NewTown and Saltlake. And this side of Kolkata is totally different from the other side you can't find any similarity between this two sides. In New Kolkata you will see modern transportation, architecture, cafes, hangout places and many more. NewTown And Saltlake these two are Kolkata's Downtown area. So the next time when you come to Kolkata, visit the Modern Kolkata as well. You will like it more and you will create beautiful memories. Take love ✨❣
Ah yes, we regret not seeing other parts of Kolkata, the newer parts of the city. 😢 Next time we visit, we'll have to check out the places you mentioned. Regardless, we had an amazing time in Kolkata so we loved it ❤️ Thank you for the recommendations!
Add Eco Park,Nicco Park, Rabindranath Thakur House,Swami Vivekananda House ,Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose House,
Best Authentic Bengali Restaurant -Bojo Hari Manna,76Bullygunge Place,Saptapadi,Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor, Best Authentic Bengali Sweet Shop-K C Das ,Balamram Mallik Radha Raman Mallik, Avik also known that
Best Time to Visit Durga Puja time ,And Winter season
I too was initially thinking the same thing. But if you think about it, from their perspective, the new Kolkata will be same as any other modern city. As a Calcuttan, I too want that people get to see both old and modern Kolkata, but the heritage Kolkata tour is far more interesting to tourists I feel than modern skyscrapers and IT hubs.
I am from Kolkata
Thank you
As visited our nice city
Thank you for watching! We loved visiting Kolkata, you have a nice city 😊
Probably the best gastronomic tour video for my home city- Kolkata! Coming from a non-Indian. Awesomely done. Thanks for this video. Watching from Dubai, fills me with nostalgia.
West Bengal is cultural capital of India & you can see it on your own eyes if you come during "Unesco World Heritage DURGA PUJA" . It will be held from 20th October 2023 to 24th October 2023

Love watching your video but this is for the first time
2:26 Colonial rule in india officially lasted for 190 years not 300 years. Indian National Army was formed in 1942 under Rash Behari Bose by Indian POWs of the British Indian Army captured by Japan in the Malayan campaign and at Singapore. Rash Behari handed over INA to great Subhas Chandra Bose. he set up provisional government for free India in Singapore. then started the war of indian independence from the British. it was one of the most Epic battle with very little help from the Japanese. after Japan surrender at the end of world war 2 the battle of INA also ended and the soldiers were captured by British army. Brits decided to conduct a public trial on 3 commanders of Ina-Dhillon, Sahgal, Khan. as the news of Netaji with his Army fought against the British spread the entire British Indian Navy revolted in 1946. because of this already weakened British army because of WW2 could not hold onto India and they left in 1947. in 1956 when British pm Clement Attlee came to India then Bengal Governor asked him why British leave India. to which Attlee replied that the role played by Netaji army was paramount for India's Independence.
Yes, thank you for the great summary! We think the '300 years' Avik mentioned might be referring to the British influence in Kolkata instead of formal British colonial rule. He shared a lot of great info about Bose and the fight for independence. We're really glad we got to learn about such an important part of India's history
@@twobetween before British colonial government, Bengal was ruled by East India Company, they annexed Bengal after the battle of plassey in 1726, while Kolkata was established in 1696 with the construction of Fort William.
Glad Food Square on College Street was featured
