Just amazing with how much inner connection Maria plays her Music.
Every note and sequence follows in to the next with a passionate search to do it better this time and forever.
Highly personal and jet universal. A true master in the art of time, in our time.

A poet of the piano, infinite variety of touch, and a magical flow of the melodic line…

Her Schumann is certainly among the finest we have . Her depth and freedom without distortion are increible . We alwasy feel someting when she plays . the simplest line she can turn into aspiritual moment . Her Bach and the snippet of Scarlatti we have from her .She is not from this planet . she is what I expected when I first her Lippatti but alwasy hear with Clara Haskil !

I agree with you. She's from another planet, much higher than ours.

Thanks for re-opening this video. I used to listen to this one 3 years ago but suddenly disappeared one day. Now I found it again.

I treasure her recordings of Chopin Nocturnes; Mozart sonatas, she is in a class of her own. The Abschied here is lovely.

    She is very devoted, honest
I like this interpretation, it is not like Richter, but it has many qualities!

The perfect recording for me, except how she slightly changes the first movement! I also prefer Rubinstein for the Prophet Bird.

Please don't compare Rubinstein with Maria João, simply because they are distinct players, not comparable.

Same pri la kulmino.

In 1, "Eintritt" The first repetition is wrong, Pires omits the second half of the eighth bar

      Atentos saludos
I'm afraid you didn't understand my comment:
      1. I'm a great admirer of Maria Joao Pires, my comment is NOT negative about her as interpreter. She IS a great pianist!
      2. I pointed to a fact. Facts are not sad nor cheerful. They are simply facts. There are no reasons to ignore them.
      3. The fact I pointed to is only a little (very little) reading error. No more. It can help piano students.
      Kind regards

She goes frankly quickly through Schumann's forest scenes and loses a lot of proper accents here and there.
