  • MWND is at an all time high of 180k bottles this year! We can only hope that the quantity increase also comes with a large quality increase after we hated act 10.

    Justifying this bottle at 150 is insane. So many other options that are easier to find, at least as good, for close to half the price.

      Being a Grand Reserve member really has little benefit anymore. If you “win” their lottery it is only to over pay for a bottle.

    • @Sitri115
      @Sitri115 4 месяца назад

      Upping the price sucks but keep in mind liquor stores have to adjust their pricing depending on how their distributors charge them per bottle. If the price went up then I'd say stop bitching at the liquor stores and start bitching to the distributors and to High West themselves. Most liquor stores up the price based on what they are being charged per bottle, it went up in my local Total Wine and other liquor stores in the area too.

    I bought act 10 last year and it was my first MWND ever and it was good initially the few pours I had last year, since then I’ve had pours the past two weeks and I gotta say it’s really good! I’m far from a rye guy but this bottle is the first pour I find myself pouring as of late (usually 1 pour a night). If an act 10 pops up in secondary groups I’m in I’d definitely double down and buy another as I find it enjoyable. Will be hunting the 11 though as long as it’s state min.

    95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP;
    80% rye, 20% malted rye from HWD
    This is the makeup of batch 11. According to their newsletter it is finished in both ruby and tawny port. All releases typically are finished in both although some specify french oak or french oak port.

    Couple of corrections to this video.
    This year's (Act 11) MSRP is $125 as was last years (Act 10). Not $150.
    Last year, High West produced 129,852 total bottles: 115,596 of Act 10 + 14,256 of Encore. So, yes, last years' production was over 100k.
    This year, High West produced 189,684 bottles. As there was no special release this year, the full lot was used for Act 11.

      It literally compares to and may even be better than act 4 which is my favorite I've had. I have 40 double rye picks (even a couple mwnd double ryes) I'd still put this up there with the best of those (and some of those have 400-600 secondary values)

    150 for a slightly over finished 92 proof?
    I mean price-wise they are starting to compete with Michters 10yr and you can’t tell me the MWND is that level of good?! I get it Michters is a SiB but still, 10yr old Kentucky rye vs… 7yr? Finished Utah rye?
    I do appreciate the bump in production. I will say that.
    If it was 100 -110 I’d be more in line with Dan. As it stands I have to side with Sean.

      I love the idea of a higher proof but they never have and I doubt they will honestly. Double rye MWND picks were great for this very reason

    Hard pass for me. All these brands are pricing themselves out of most of their customers reach.

    Just opened this this week and tried with friends. It’s one of the worst whiskeys I’ve ever bought. I probably would pass on it even at $50. It is one note of port with 0 complexity.

    I ended up passing on this due to the price tag for a 5 (ish) year rye. Also it was rumored that port wine was use to cut the harshness of the young rye. Not the barrel...the wine itself
    Specially because when the bottle cost $80, it was a 16 year rye. Fail for High West

    Tastes like a band-aid. It's terrible and will sit on my shelf nearly full for life. Probably get poured down the drain eventually.

    The Bourbon Judge had already put this on his list of things he will not be buying. He said it is not worth the price for what you get.

      Disagree but we all have different taste buds. This is the best MWND in years and at this point $130 for a limited (using the price people in the comments are saying) isn't very high. Agree higher than it used to be but everything seems to be right now.

    MWND is all hype like Blantons, not worth the MSRP or secondary prices.

    MWND is terrible. Hasn't been good since batch 4 or 5. It's so bad I can't physically swallow it

      We literally tried batch 4 against this, I think the finish on 11 is actually better than batch 4. Batch 4 feels so much more 95/5 youthy spicy rye.
