I just about threw the remote at the TV when you panned EC Toasted Barrel. The only bottle in that line up I currently have and one of my favorites. I quickly went a poured a dram and thought you guys are whacked. Glad you cleared that up.
I saw them rank ECTB so poorly and was ready to unsubscribe lol
I literally watched that and said to myself they mixed those two up, because the notes they were giving were the exact notes I get on EC Toasted. Marshmallow vanilla sugar.

EC Toasted is my favorite these days.....what the heck! I will say, there is something 'off' on the bottle I have opened now---happy to see the adjustment.

LOL During the recent Heaven Hill BIB review they gave Heaven Hill BIB an A or A- and Dan said the BIB was better than Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. 🤪

@@jacknoble2696I also was confused with my bottle. I gave it blind to my brother and he wasn't even sure that it was a bourbon. We both picked up on barrel funky, some malt, and nuttiness mixed in. A weird combo that neither of us would have paid $20 for, let alone $50.
I was totally stunned when ECTB was by far the last, that made no sense. What an ending though, the world is right again.

Henry McKenna varies so hard from barrel to barrel. My bottle is great but I've had pours that were awful. Might be one of the most inconsistent single barrel products out there.

I just picked up two bottles of Larceny Barrel Proof (C923) for $50 each, and two bottles of Henry McHenna 10 yr for $56 each. Got them at a Costco in San Diego.Haven't tried either of them yet. I wasn't a fan of Heaven Hill BiB that I got earlier this year, but it was pretty decent mixed with root beer.

i love your videos and buy bourbon based off your recommendations. but yall killed me on the toasted Barrell i love that bourbon im drinking it while watching this. im so glad it was wasnt actually your worst pick i was like oh it seems i dont know what im talking about. really enjoy your videos and hope to keep finding new and better bourbons.

I bought that HH BiB on a lark recently because I had never seen HH products where I am, and the store manager said it would sell out in a couple hours even without mention on social media. I listened to the Junkies' video on the way home and thought great, I caught a winner (to be clear, I had already bought it, so my decision to purchase was not influenced by the video). I came home, tried it, and was really disappointed, even for what I gather was the low price of $40 at which I bought it. It helps to sit for a while, or to have it on the rocks or as an old fashioned, but nevertheless it leaves a lot to be desired when had neat. I've never had the pre-2019 6 yr, so my disappointment was relative only to other bourbons, not relative in regard to being disappointed at what sounds like a sharp decline in price-to-performance ratio. I wish I had a liter of WT101 and $10 back.

1910 hell I can tell by the nose. It smells like sticking my face in a bunch of overripe banana's.
ECTB... I haven't really spent enough time with to get that strong of a note off it. I think it's wildly overrated... and only tried it maybe 3 times since I got a bottle. Also, something is clearly wrong with their Larceny BP.
HH17 would blow them all out of the water.

I was actually surprised when you said the glasses were switched because I don’t care for EC Toasted. Not sure what the hype is about. Although I will say I generally do not like double Oaked bourbons. There is a note in all of them that just doesn’t do it for me 🤷♂️😂

HH pulling EW Single Barrel out of 98% of the country is so wrong.
Only place I've seen the EWSB since 2022 was in AAFES in Germany. Bought two bottles. Someone spilled 1/3 of it on the grass @ Grafenwöhr last June. He apologized profusely. I said, it's not a super expensive bottle. 🤷
Parker’s heavy char bourbon would easily win for me. I find myself disagreeing more and more with their palates.
I don’t see how Dan hates OWA and Larceny BP, those are 2 of my favorite pours.

@@user-md9kb9xd8j true. He always mentions a floral note in OWA which I get, it’s a wheater but I get cherry, char, and that perfect proof note. All tastes rounded.
@@jashsu blinded against what, other wheaters? Or against rye bourbons or ryes of varying proofs? I’ve drank it with my eyes closed and it’s phenomenal every time. B523 actually reignited my bourbon craze. It’s not Stitzel Weller distilled Old Forester or Pappy, but mannnn for a bp wheater somewhat available in my area, it’s hard to beat.
I've tried to like Henry McKenna but I just don't. It has a thin mouthfeel to me and all I get is oak and rubbing alcohol.

Honestly, I'm more surprised EC Toasted ended up actually being the 3rd place. I'm not a fan of it - at the least the bottle I have - there is too much sour oak and not enough sweet oak on the toasted profile. Mine toasted is pretty bitter compared to other toasted bottles on my shelf - but maybe it just needs more air. I'll throw it into a blind against Nulu Toasted, Woodford, and 1910 and see what happens.
ECBP C923 is excellent... but most ECBP are heavy hitters that somehow don't get enough respect anymore now that everyone is horny for BT allocations. Most ECBP batches are better than most Stagg batches... and given the MSRP on each, the manufacturers kind of agree. Stagg is a great $60 bottle. ECBP is a great $70-75 bottle. When you look at them in secondary pricing... Stagg is an atrocious $200-300 bottle. ECBP is still an acceptable $85-90 bottle (but you'll almost always find the current batches at MSRP eventually).
