There were some hitters and a lot of strikeouts. Knob Creek 18 30 year anniversary was actually worth $175, Calumet 16 was well worth $150 and I found an entire case of old Brown-Forman Early Times Bottled in Bond for $265.

@BooshkiiBomb123 For me, it's hard to think of any whiskey over $100 being a great "bang for the buck" pour. Is a Bardstown Disco for $130 really 2x better than an OF 1920? Probably not. I'm trying to find those great bottles under $65 now.

1000% agree with the MWND inclusion. The price hike and lower quality compared to last year, plus so many other amazing port finished ryes, is making MWND a future pass for us.
So glad I still have an act 9 sitting around and lucky enough to have an unopened act 5 still. Its wild how underwhelming this year's release was compared to previous releases. Especially considering MWND has traditionally been one of my favorites.
@@aprilbrown8081 I balked at the price increase. If it had still been $99, I would have bought it without hesitation (and probably regretted it). But at the new price, and knowing that as each year passes it's set to have less MGP and more of their own private stocks blended in, I think I'll never buy another bottle ever again.
You should have taken 1.5-2oz from each bottle and made an infinity bottle of the “Worst Whiskey.” You should do the same for the “Best” ones too. Would be a cool viewing.

The BRT-01 & 02 are both everywhere in western KY right now. $65-$70. I didn't mind the Knob Creek 18 year price, worth it. The Booker's Kentucky Tea was so off profile that it was worth the $90 for once. Calumet 16 was good at $150. I liked BRT-01 a lot more than 02, but wasn't mad that I bought it. It's a nice contrast. Thanks to Sean, I rediscovered old Early Times BIB and found an entire case of it for $265. Definitely drinks way older that it should. Have you all tried any of the Lost Lantern juice? I believe it's sourced from Starlight in Indiana.
So appreciate you guys and the rest of whiskey tube for giving your reviews. I loved Remus 5 was going to jump on 6 until I saw the reviews. So thankful I didn’t drop that cash on 6.
Has anyone heard about the claim that ET BIB is still the exact same whiskey, just transported to Sazerac? Seems weird that an Bib could switch so quickly?
MWND A10...I bought a shot of it at a whisky bar and it was good, but yeah not worth the price or the hunt so I'm glad I only spent $25 to get that out of my system. This one was actually really close to the Sagamore Sherry aged rye which is a great buy at $70!!
Love the list my A122 wasn’t bad and I bought all out of the same case so fingers crossed on future bottles I open, my biggest disappointment was Bluegrass High Rye Cask. It was a 2+ year whiskey so I didn’t expect those deep and complex notes of older whiskey but for $65/70 it was almost unpalatable. It has been on the shelf for a while though so I may come back to it in the future but if you guys find it steer clear I did buy it from I liquor store up here in Michigan.
Agree on the hidden barn. Hopefully future bottles will be better. Glad I didn't get the repeal 6, even happier I still have a bottle of repeal 5! I thought both BRT bottles were good. Totally different imo. Thanks guys!
Man I've never seen a single bottle of ET BiB. I'd love to try the brown foreman before Saz but I have never seen any of it here strangely enough. I agree with the list, so much high price high demand whiskey that fell flat this year
same here, I had to go from right coast to the people's republik of Kalifornia to score one and that was the saz version. Since I never had the BF version, I thought the saz one was still a hitter for $25/liter, maybe BF didn't include the leftover stock with the sale to keep the quality going for a few years before the saz-distilled stuff came out?
My local store did a blind tasting with Early Times metal top vs EH Taylor BIB and Early Times still won. People want to hate on the metal top but it’s still great juice
Great list. Ardbeg Ardcore was the lates committee release not Hypernova for 2022. Still, I skipped hypernova, got the Ardcore labeled as “biting a spiked ball” 😂 terrible release. Not a bad whisky just terrible price and label. You’re better off with a bottle of Uigeadail.
The only reason I'll agree with you on the Hypernova is because it is a really, really terrible bourbon...but it's only a terrible bourbon because it's scotch. It absolutely blows the recent Scorch, Ardcore, and Fermutation releases away (I did really like the Arrrrrrrdbeg that was mentioned though, and Fermutation was interesting), MUCH better. Maybe a bit more subtle than it was hyped up to be and, yes, it's Octomore MSRP and not Octomore peatiness. Considering that I haven't managed to catch a bottle of Octomore on a shelf in over three years and grey market prices for it make Hypernova look like a bargain, it just is where the market is right now.
Whisky Advocate has rated Jack Daniel's Bonded #1 for 2022. I would not recommend anything that Whisky Advocate recommends as they do get it wrong countless times.
I didnt buy many new bottles in 2022 just a lot of old favs. I dont know what happened with the elijah craig barrel proof a122 but on vacation (summer of 22) i bought a bottle of elijah craig private barrel, barrel proof (65ish%) around the $100 mark and i thought it was phenomenal
Bench Mark single barrel here. Miss my eagle rare and stagg Jr. Bench mark isnt an eagle rare but its tasty and cheap in this stupid price bourbon market
So we had 9 people in our camp for bear season this year. I brought a bottle of the Makers BRT-02, Calumet 16 (my favorite), Woodford 118, and George Dickel BiB. I asked what they liked best, and the Makers won Hands down. I really liked it as well. The Mocha Spice one they did this year was also great.
Love high west, favorite company their stuff is really good. But I think they just crossed a turning point where I'm over them based on price on how they're seemingly dropping limited stuff with a super premium price tag just to do it, and they aren't slowing down. You have the bourye price hike and mwnd price hike like yall said, then they dropped encore, then prisoners share out of no where, and like a month or two later there's labels floating around of them doing cask strength limited releases. Which cool for dropping new stuff but their problem is good whiskey but too much money, and they keep going up. Wouldn't surprise me to see a yky return for 275. Rant over lol
Ive watched this video about five times already. You guys are the best. You could say you hate every single bottle I love and I still would be ride or die. 2023 going to be a great year to be a Bourbon Junkie. Cheers Guys
Disclaimer: newbie to the bourbon world and am dipping my toes in. I had heard great things about and purchased a bottle of Early Times this fall before I knew there was a transition from BF to Saz. I have never tasted the cork-bottled BF juice so I can’t compare, but I actually thoroughly enjoy the bottle of Early Times that I have. I do not get the same notes that you guys mentioned, but I am really curious to know what the BF juice tasted like. I’m hoping to find a friend who may still have some so that I can draw comparisons.
They make a bigger deal about it than it needs to be. I don’t have the grandiose palates of them so I still enjoy the new one thoroughly and can’t tell hardly any difference. Most of the other whiskey tubers and reviewers are in the same boat. New one is still good so if it’s good to you just ignore the whining.
I think these guys are mistaken. Bottled in bond requires a 4 year aging by one distiller at one distillery. Since Sazerac bought it in 2021, it most certainly has to be the same juice. Unless they somehow received the mash I’ll 4 years prior to acquisition? That’s my understanding anyway. They should do a side by side between the two.
I am almost a year into Bourbon. Started with Bottled in Bonds. (JTS BROWN my favorite) ...very skeptical of anything over $40....especially new brands with different barrel finishes and other possible gimmicks.
@@tommyfreiling this was my thought, as well, regarding the perceived difference between the products. I would love to be able to blind them together and see the differences between the two. Another channel mentioned it could have just been a funky batch due to the acquisition, but who knows
The BF ET BiB tastes/tasted very very similar 1792 BiB and especially similar to Col EH Taylor Small Batch. But at half the price and 250 ml more in the bottle. Subject to batch variatiom... The BF ET BiB basically relegated Sazerac unnecessary for those who like that flavor profile. And I love it. The Saz, subject to batch variation, is a stink sucker.
Midwinter 10 quietly showed up at my local Costco for $90something+tax. Didn’t meet my expectations but didn’t hurt as bad as it would’ve at retail + allocated markup elsewhere. Whiskey consumers are getting stung from just about all angles of the whiskey industry and there’s nothing we can do about it until supplies start to catch up. And even still - who’s to say the industry won’t still behave like any other cartel.
I got a bottle of Midwinter Scene 10 Act 2. I've enjoyed the 2 glasses I've had of it but I'm not sure I'll ever pay that much for a bottle again. The pricing on it what simply absurd but I was treating myself after a bonus from work.
Remus 6 was a pleasant surprise to me, it was findable compared to 5 and is good. Top two disappointments for me were Birthday Bourbon and King of Kentucky, both fell below flat compared to the hype, they were ok at best.
Fully agree on the A122 ECBP. B522 was maybe the most one-note ECBP I've had but A122 just wasn't good! I think I'm done buying and chasing ECBP for a bit. I still have A121 and it still holds up. Still like Jack BIB but I never had that old version so I didn't have anything to compare to.
Great watching your reviews. Regardig your Hidden Barrel review. It's like watching Jonesy and Riley disappointed with Katie. You want to tell how you really feel, but you know Squirrely Dan and Dairy will probably kick your ass
Mix a little Woodford Reserve double Oaked with the Sz Early Times. My wife hates bourbon but said that smells like Christmas. A 375 ml of Woodford should fix 3 bottles of Early Times.
Love you guys but you are wrong on the Sazerac Early Times. It is one of my favorite bottles I own. I'm just upset that I had to be in Tennessee to find it ( I live in PA)
perspective: regardless if you can find them or not msrp for btac is still around 99$. i was super disappointed with some of these price hikes this year.
Early Times was just recently brought out by Sazerac! We are not going to see Sacerac Early Times BIB for at least four years from now! This guy's review is clearly based on old Early Times BIB and influenced by the sale and not the whiskey!
Well it's 1792 that's making it if you want to get really specific. Also just because it's the same whiskey doesn't mean the same people are blending it. We did a blind on new vs old bottles they taste different, not sure what to tell you on that
I guess I had 2 real disappointments this year. Never seeing Weller 12 under &250, I can’t, across it and got for $150.00 so I pulled the trigger. At $50, it would have even okay, but the short finish on a 12 year, just taught me a lesson. 2nd bottle, many people loved it, Sagamore Sherry Finish. I just don’t get it, I enjoy Sagamore products, this one just wasn’t my jam. Cheers
Dickel 17 was so disappointing. Which was crushing at $250 when I actually liked Dickle 15. And I pulled the trigger based on how good BlueNote 17 was.
You're not the only one. That is the best product from the U.S. that I bought this year. Considerably better than other bourbon and whiskeys that I tried.
Have you reviewed Dexter 3 Wood Bourbon? If not, hope you will have a review later this year. I searched and didn't find an episode. A friend loves it. It's about $50 a bottle.
Hidden Barn Batch 1 was my #1 whiskey buy of the year. I dig the guys from 5280 - I've had a number of their picks and they were some of the best I've had. Jackie is... well Jackie. I had high expectations, I got what tasted like 8 hour aged whiskey that came out of bath tub. Sadly this takes all the other releases off my buy list until I taste them.
HIDDEN BARN batch#1 is a piece of art according to it's creators, it is a product 100% meant to be what it is. "A showcase of it's environment!" I am glad I got to try it, I am glad I did not buy it, this bottle is a FOMO killer! I don't get it, and I don't like it. On another note, I paid $79.99 on Remus V, and $78.99 on Remus VI, so I can't complaint. (I know it might be to my detriment, but I am out on $150-$200+ new out-of-left-field releases, but I gladly watch you guys do it) Cheers!!

I can still get the plastic cap where I live. Good to know about the new one
I slowed way down on buying in 2022. Just so much stuff at insane prices. Wt 101 still exists for $22 here
The economy slowed me down.
Bench Mark single barrel here. Miss my eagle rare and stagg Jr. Bench mark isnt an eagle rare but its tasty and cheap in this stupid price bourbon market
@@claytonblachly4031 honestly id take benchmark full proof over eagle rare any day
So we had 9 people in our camp for bear season this year. I brought a bottle of the Makers BRT-02, Calumet 16 (my favorite), Woodford 118, and George Dickel BiB. I asked what they liked best, and the Makers won Hands down. I really liked it as well. The Mocha Spice one they did this year was also great.
Yea Dan's wrong on that bottle
Cheers Guys
Just picked up Hidden Barn Madeira Cask finish Batch 1 and it’s fantastic!
I loved the JD BiB. I finished my bottle pretty quick.
Sorry lads stupid question but dose drink prices change alot in different states from Ireland love the videos
Thanks guys... good to know I made the right choice passing on the Hypernova...
1:37 -- now THAT's what I call a Glencairn, LOL.
Agreed.
Great watching your reviews. Regardig your Hidden Barrel review. It's like watching Jonesy and Riley disappointed with Katie. You want to tell how you really feel, but you know Squirrely Dan and Dairy will probably kick your ass
So the 1l Jack Daniels Bottled in Bond that looks more like the Old No. 7 is the one to get?
Early Times - still the same BF stocks, but blended differently. What a difference the master blender can make!
I like that Jack Bonded, more like a Snickers bar to me, and I find it for 30...it isnt a must have but Ill buy it 3 times a year.
Calumet farms 16 year old should be on Your list. Plastic model glue, aged in plastic barrels, apparently, at least the batch I got.
I feel like “Single Rick” should become a tattoo/slogan. 😂 #marketing
Sounds like a Rick and Morty episode title
That Willet Rye was $150?! I found a bottle at the local Kroger last year for less than half that. I would have been mad if I had paid $150.
They said "bourye" was $150
Yeah the boureye was a limited edition one.
Well…I got the A122 anyway. Haven’t cracked it yet…it was hard to get…and now I’m nervous.😢
perspective: regardless if you can find them or not msrp for btac is still around 99$. i was super disappointed with some of these price hikes this year.
Yea so it feels really insulting when you put an 8 year product at 2.5x those prices
nice job Sean for 1 year of not hitting a dear.
I wish corryvreckan was only 89, it’s one of my favorites and it well over 100 retail.
The new wall is dope!
Appreciate the video, I purchased a few myself.
I like MWND act 10, I didn’t like the price hike but it was better than last years imo.
Cheers
Was lookin forward to trying jd bonded
Happy New Year Fellas... question? Is it true that Midwinter Dram is Being discontinued as of next year? What is the age statement on this release?
Dickel 17 was so disappointing. Which was crushing at $250 when I actually liked Dickle 15. And I pulled the trigger based on how good BlueNote 17 was.
jack daniels bonded was my favorite from this past year 😂
You're not the only one. That is the best product from the U.S. that I bought this year. Considerably better than other bourbon and whiskeys that I tried.
Yea it's kind of like the BRT-02, lots of people will say we're wrong. Dan is wrong for that but I still feel like the bonded is meh
@@BourbonJunkies yea i think it drinks at its price point
If you glean find it I would recommend Noble Oak batch 1. Not a fan yet of anything else they have produce but batch 1 is awesome.
Have you reviewed Dexter 3 Wood Bourbon? If not, hope you will have a review later this year. I searched and didn't find an episode. A friend loves it. It's about $50 a bottle.
Doesn’t the led lights create a UV that dilutes alcohol while sitting under them???
I've been using Bonded Jack as a mixer with Coke. It's great like that, but neat is just 'meh'.
How do I hat my hands on your wall mount bottle displays?
I got 4 bottles of the maker’s mark u showed I’m going open the first bottle this Saturday for my bottle u just kinda ruined it for me lol 😂🎉🎉
ET BiB was okay for 18 bucks but I guess the black tops are better because Sazerac did something bad.
Ours will not be in that 150-200 price range for the normal releases by no means. It's gonna have to be something special to be in that price range
Hidden Barn Batch 5 is pretty awesome... can't speak to any others, but they're making good progress, IMO
No matter what I drink it still tastes like whiskey so I’ll probably pick up a few of these bottles. Thanks!
