  • If All For One used more that 10% of his brain, he could have won ALREADY. Seriously, this guy has everything to achieve his goals and is just sitting there flat on his ass. Yes, he is creating a worthy successor, but he could have taken a W without going that far! To support my claims, here are 5 Ways One For All Could have Won ALREADY, I hope you find it interesting and have a laugh or two! Thanks for watching, YOU ARE AWESOME!

*"My impression, overwhelmingly, is that AFO is someone who's never had to work particularly hard. He got to be Sylar, running around harvesting powers before people really knew powers existed, and then he had centuries to accumulate more and more and more and more, stacking advantage on advantage and always just a short vacation away from procuring new ones to throw in his Scrooge McDuck vault of them."*
*"AFO makes the most sense as a schoolyard bully with the powers of a god. He doesn't need to actually be courageous or determined, because there's basically nothing that can actually hurt him or tell him "No". Getting his face ripped apart by All Might was probably the first time he'd ever suffered a serious injury or significant pain in a century or more - and he's doing this whole "choosing a successor" shtick because it lets him paper over the real motive here."*
*"He's weak. He's a spineless, gutless worm, and now that he realizes that One For All can hurt him - really hurt him, make him feel pain, make him feel like something less than God incarnate - the fear of that is too much to bear. He'd literally rather die than grow a thicker skin or use his power more effectively, because the only reason he has for living is to endlessly indulge himself, to live out an endless series of childish, monstrous power fantasies."*
*"Now that he's had that fantasy punctured, he can't find a way to stitch it back together. He can't fix his face because the Quirks available to him would require him to suffer more pain, which is an indignity worse than anything except actually going out and specifically hunting down a Quirk that would fix him without causing pain, because he's so petulant and childish that admitting he needs to stop playing around for five seconds and attend to something that matters is a bridge too far."*
*"If he can't be God, then he can't be anything. He's long since burned whatever attachments he had to humanity, and accumulating power only ever mattered as a way of fueling his endless bacchanal. Unleashing Shigaraki on the world is just a way to make it look like he's not angry and terrified, he's laughing, actually, this is all just a big joke, all according to keikaku! Because then he gets to die as All For One, grandmaster of villainy, demon of the modern age. He gets to be special, fearsome, mythological."*
*"He gets to keep hiding that the Wizard is a fraud, and the man behind the curtain is nothing without the random genetic mutation that he's hidden behind all this time."*
*"The man even refers to himself by the name of his Quirk - because the only thing he's got is how powerful and exceptional his Quirk is, and maybe people will assume that something so powerful and grand must belong to an equally impressive man if he associates the name with himself enough."*
Absolutely beautiful summary of All For One's character that I heard from another person.

I disagree with a good chunk of this. First of all, if he was weak, spineless and so on, he wouldn't have faced All Might a 2nd time. Secondly, he is not planning to die... quite the opposite, and he NEEDS Shiggy for that, not for shits and giggles.
Also, he is not a bully, he is a master manipulator. He will find a way to get you and if bulling is the way, so it will be.
Listen to this dude in Tartaros. He is sitting there, can't even scratch his balls and still is on top of everything, knowing exactly what's going on and that he well get out in precisely the way he wants to.

One problem with that, it's been stated that OFA cannot be stolen, it has to be passed on willingly. A better solution would have been to task someone like Toga or some young villain to get close to the current OFA user, manipulate the OFA user with a mind manipulation quirk and set up situations that make the young villain look like a potential successor. Eventually and with some effort, the OFA user will transfer OFA to the young villain. Then All for One just has to call the villain back and they can give All for One the quirk willingly and then it's gg, well played, your all doomed.

I'm not sure if this point is a character flaw or ONLY something specific to a scenario, but there's something I noticed about AFO that also keeps him from winning.
He doesn't just want to WIN. He wants to DOMINATE, like he feels a need to make sure everyone else around him knows HE is the winner. It shines through particularly well in his fight against All Might. Every Quirk he used in the fight was collected beforehand so he could beat All Might head on and blow for blow. But wouldn't it have been much more effective to just wear him down and use Quirks that, rather than challenging All Might at his own greatest strength, capitalized on his weaknesses while neutralizing his strengths? He tried to beat All Might, a guy whose Quirk revolver around punching people really hard, by using Quirks to try and punch him harder.
It's pretty much the same problem as some versions of Lex Luthor.
'What's that Lex? You wanna make a power armor that can beat Superman in a slugging match? Why not just use kryptonite or red sun radiation emitters? O, you have to prove your superiority? Don't think about things above my pay grade? Yes sir!'

Deep down AFO is a coward though, like all villains. He's been in hiding for years. Whenever his plans don't go the way he wants, he flees and only ever fights if he believes that he holds all the cards. Plus he admitted to himself in his fight against Stars and Stripes that he's terrified of powerful quirks like One for All and New Order. Overhaul could kill him with one touch, so of course he'd never go after that guy (unless he didn't have arms for some reason, wink wink). That might be why he only ever talked to Shigaraki through he monitor screen, he was probably afraid of that decay quirk.

When there are foes like All Might and Stripy Stars, going in without a plan is FATAL, he doesn't have MC ass-pull powers so yeah, makes sense that he acts only when he is more or less confident in the result. If he was like that, he would have followed my advice and escape Kamino, instead of fighting. I think the best way for shigaraki to secure a W in this is using the liberation war as the largest distraction possible so that way when he has all of these pro-hero's fighting these nomu's he can head over to where the user of overhaul is currently and take it for himself without the hero's realizing than when he comes back he can secure the BIGGEST W ever by combining both overhaul and decay. Remember just because he sliced off overhaul's hands doesn't mean the quirk is gone it's just useless with that current user. There's zero way you would forget that overhaul exists if you're shigaraki in that situation when you become the new all for one. Nomu's would've been built much more faster and stronger along with shigaraki freeing all for one from prison since his decay awakened too city level which means he can just destroy most of the prison than use overhaul too fix up Quirk Daddy's body than they could fight side by side.

I think all of All For One's flaws stem from his extreme god complex, his overestimation of his own abilities, and his underestimation of the heroes. His immortality (at least, he appears to be unable to die from old age) has also likely served to make him a patient man willing to give up certain opportunities for another, even better one down the line. I can only think of one reason why All For One did not try out your plans. He wants to be the Demon King. A king needs subjects. He needs the people of Japan to be somewhat ok with him taking over. Warping into U.S.J Incident would have killed All Might, but it would make him a martyr. People will remember him as the most beloved hero that died saving the next generation of heroes. Basically, the civilians and heroes would rally against All For One. Similarly, attacking and threatening students would leave a bad taste in people's mouths. The civilians may lose trust in the heroes, but they will come to see All For One has a monster that has to be stopped. In Niccolo Machiavelli's book, The Prince, he suggests that you need to rule with either love or fear. Fear is better than love; however, a ruler should avoid being hated. If people hate you, they will do whatever it takes to stop you even if they must suffer. After the war arc, All For One can now kill heroes and potentially their families without being hated.

Furthermore, if he had the undercover doctor illegally leak U.A students' medical records to him, or if that is not possible he could kill the nurse lady at U.A. Then he could create a double of her and measure all the students [i'm sure he could find an excuse to do so] Then he has Deku's one for all as the clones can use the created peoples quirks as shown with Dabi. He would also have Explosion, half hot half cold, and lots of OP quirks from Classes A and B. I can see him getting mileage from Shinso's mind control especially if he develops his own voice changer. all the quirks all for one needs are basically right there in the palm of his hands, we got:
Overhaul- Kai Chisaki (Leader of the Shie Hassaiki) Explanation: The range, mid-range, and close range of this quirk have been shown during the Shie Hassaikai raid, but in the hands of All for One and his thousands of subordinates in hiding with many other different types of quirks that we don't even know of imagine the beast this will create after all Kai Chisaki has shown he can grow up to many buildings after fusing with only a few of his subordinates into him gaining a lot of strength almost equal to a low percentage of one for all as well.
Copy- Monoma Neito (Class B student) Explanation: Do I really need to explain this to you? In a basic summary, he can copy an incomplete form of One for All to boost his other quirks.
Erasure- Shota Aizawa(Teacher at UA) Explanation: Shoto Aizawa has been carrying the heroes through this entire war arc without him many of his comrades, friends, and students would've already been dead so if this quirk were to be used by All for One gg heroes.
Reflect - Flect turn (Leader of the global cult Humarise in World's Heros' Mission) Explanation: Come on... you've seen it in action it's basically a better version of the Nomu's Shock Absorption quirk.
Decay(Awakened) - Tomura Shigaraki (Tenko Shimura grandson of Nana Shimura) Explanation: All for one literally can not be touched at all, I mean dude he has all different types of quirks for long, to close combat quirks and if you can't fly good luck, my friend.
Half Hot Half Cold- Shoto Todoroki (Youngest son of Enji Todoroki/ Endeavour) Explanation: Giant Icebergs and Hellfire fields... that's all I got to say and with self-regeneration quirks at his disposal... They can be much worse.
Creation- Momo Yaoyorozu (Only daughter of the wealthy Yaoyorozu family) Explanation: Come on man he's just making nuclear weapons at this rate with memory and intelligence-enhancing quirks there's nothing he can't make with this quirk.
Permeation- Mirio Togata (Nighteye's apprentice and currently has regained his quirk) Explanation: My man has lived with no eyes and no ears for years and the only reason he can see and hear is because of the multitude of quirks he has at this disposal so the weaknesses of this quirk are basically null to him.
High spec- Nezu (Principal of UA high) Explanation: Seriously dude you got to be kidding me I'm just making a super monstrous genius at this rate that could rip your face off before you can even speak.
Rewind- Eri (Unknown origins, but is currently under care by Aizawa Shota) Explanation: Not a lot has been shown of this quirk since it hasn't been trained or wielded at its highest potential so All for One may possibly be able to rewind all of his injures mid-fight like it never happened.
and last but not least One for all- Izuku Midoriya (9th successor of One for all and student of class 2-A)(Other quirks of previous users contain: Black whip, Float, Smokescreen, Danger Sense, Fa Jin, and Gear shift) Explanation: Dude you've seen it your self you got to be kidding me if I'm explaining this.

However, I just want to say what makes you think "All for One" hasn't done any of these things already? Keep in mind he's been foiled Time and Time Again by All Might. The reason why he's been more carefully planning and been more methodical is because simply throwing everything at the wall hasn't worked. It might have explained why he has this 10-year long contingency plan.
As for stealing stronger quirks, he may not be able to unless he can overcome their willpower, which is why he has to default to manipulation. I believe he doesn't even want Hawke's quirk because it's too complicated for him to use. So despite his hunger he can be picky.
Another theory is that since he's had so many quirks he can't fully utilize all of them without backlash. This is likely why he got the doctor to help him, who just wants someone to be sympathetic to his theory on Quirk singularity, after all AFO is living proof.

AFO is always trying to go for the most basic, raw power Quirks out there when it would be so useful to go after more Hax Quirks like Decay, Overhaul, Permeation, etc. you know, Quirks that can practically make you invincible while being able to 1-hit K.O. Your enemies. But of course, this series was made in a way where things like emotion and sentimentality matter more than something like “logic” and so a guy like AFO, who can basically have any power he wants, can somehow lose to a guy who’s power is to punch really really hard.

When he best the crap out of best jeanist he said he didn't want fiber master because it was to hard to use so maybe chisake had a training arc where he learned to use overhaul really well like how permiation is really good if you can use it but no one outside of someone training their entire life can make use of it very well. I imagine it would be hard to learn how to put a whole person back together properly like how chisake does. Another problem is actually taking it.     MHA is a series that while I love the openness and concept of the world (even if its a basic 'everyone had super powers')...I hate that I can't really enjoy the canon story because I feel I have to look at it in one simple way;
    Every character is incompetent.
Not even in the "everyone is human and has flaws" way. Like no one seems to make a decision that isn't objectively flawed.
Honestly the only characters that seem to do anything actually smart, are the people in the League themselves, outside of AFO I mean.

I very much disagree with your assessment.
    1. The Quirk he gave to his brother wasn’t supposed to be a power up. Stockpile was meant to be an energy supply to keep Yoichi alive given he was refusing meals. And All for One never bothered looking for one within his brother back in the day when Quirks were super rare. (Also: when we know that Yoichi was about to be assassinated when Second and Third appeared. It’s very possible the first pass was accidental given the literally blood-thirsty Second might have tasted some mid-kill.)
    2. The USJ was not to train Tomura or to Kill All Might. All for One needed to infect his new body with the proper hate to acquire the Quirks which would make him unstoppable in the face of potential singularity. Anti-Symbol was there to inspire fear in the world and make their actions more apparent to him, to feel out of All Might had passed on One for All, and to give Tomura a taste of failure and swell his hate.
    3. Kamino was his endgame gamble. He *wanted* to be captured to begin Tomura’s forging and get access to the master hold of supervillain-developed Quirks, but needed to have several conditions met. He needed to have All Might away from the field so he could work well, but without making it too easy or generating a martyr (which he’d dealt with many of), he needed to put the Hero organization on the back foot and not spurred into a true fervor, and he had to make his L look convincing by making it seem like he sacrificed something worth giving up when in fact: he had traded his new positioning for next to nothing.
    4. Overhaul.
All for One didn’t know about Overhaul, and the Yakuza were noted severely as the bottom of the barrel. Someone even street gangs looked down on, because the Yakuza don’t use Quirks so they don’t get branded as villains. Overhaul kept his powers very secret, and All for One was focusing on Trigger and Nomu over what kind of wine to have with dinner. When Tomura did meet him: neither he nor any of the League ever saw him having more than disintegration powers, and his final battle was when he already fused via some unknown (to them) method. And All for One didn’t need another weak killing Quirk that’s fueled by trigger or something. And it’s possible he *does* have Overhaul, just can’t utilize it fully for some reason. He was far more interested in Eri, which… might come back later.

      1. I can see that happening (except I didn't know about the saving and so on) but AFO should have checked, it should be natural for him to do so given how much transferring he's done.
      2. You say it wasn't to train Tomura, but then say "to infect his new body with the proper hate" and "give Tomura a taste of failure". Sounds a bit contradictory and supports my point instead.
      3. That's why I said that it was not a bad decision. I simply proposed a scenario in which he'd be the one to end up victorious
      4. I understand that they are at the bottom, but that doesn't mean they don't have good quirks. If I was him, I'd look EVERYWHERE, because there are people like Kirishima, whos power was to harden up a bit during middle school and then grew into nigh indestructible fortress, you never know where you can find a gem. I bet you $2.5, if you told AFO that there is this awesome quirk that could solve all of his problems, he'd feel pretty stupid for not looking hard enough.

okay, AFO did not have NEARLY as much backing as you think he did.
    1) there are other competent heroes OFA can easily be guarded, keep in mind they only caught Endeavor 1-on-1 because Hawks planned for it.
    - 2) before the liberation army joined, league of villains was out numbered 1000-1, the only reason the most recent war arc was so well fought was because the heros were divided on three fronts,(evacuation/fighting nomus/liberation army of 1000) without the support of the libration army there is not even close enough numos to handle the hero organization
    3) the heros were on the search for the Nomus and FOUND one of the biggest hideouts, thats what forced AFO out in the first place. so there was not an unlimited amount of time, each time they sent a Nomu out, they risk getting found out.
    4) AFO is in hiding for a reason, hes not super durable, nor does he have the stamina to go toe-to-toe with hero organization
in conclusion every plan you laid out is actually WAY to high risk. not saying it would not of worked, im saying you cant know how it would end without foreknowledge and thats not how AFO plans and thinks.

Don't forget that heroes are spread across the country and were gathered for this mission. If AFO launches a full-scale attack against UA, there is only Toshinory, staff members and some fledglings heroes. No way they are dealing with Machia, AFO, Shiggi and company, dozen high-ends and whatever else they have

But he recognizes that, which is why hes training the next generation. Put simply, I agree he could have won, but HE no longer cares about winning. That or hes playing 4D chess, and theres something he wants more than to win.

I disagree....The greatest quirk is actually Yaomomo's creation. She can make anything out as long as she has enough body fat to do so and knowledge of what she needs to make.
Taking her Quirk gives you access to EVERYTHING; Guns, Ammo, Communication Equipment.....all your logistical problems solved instantly.
Just take her quirk, put in on a smart nomu which can eat dirt to enlarge itself and boom, you have enought firepower to supply an army.
Sure, some people like Endeavor and All Might can beat guys with guns...but most people don't. Even most superheroes would fall to good ol' firepower.
There's also the sick combo of taking Twice's skill and putting it on Gigantomachia, add in some fire quirk and you got an army of Titans marching while igniting everything on their path....one big Rumbling.

I spent the entire video waiting for the best answer, but alas, here I am commenting it: What AFO should've really done is form an alliance with the MLA early. Fuck the LOV or the HSPC, they are by far are the greatest consolidated power in Japan and just having them as a potential rival should've made All For One quake in his boots.

AFO is just focusing on the wrong targets. Here's how to win in five steps.
Step 1: kidnap Nezu and take High Specs. Also, get Saiko Intelli's IQ quirk. This is the hardest step, but once accomplished the rest become way easier.
Step 2: get Erasure from Eraserhead.
Step 3: get Overhaul from Overhaul.
Step 4: Use Overhaul to fix yourself.
Step 5: You win. All Might can't fight against you now, because you erase his quirk, and you can use Overhaul to rip his quirk factor from his body and put it into you without having to worry about the vestiges of OFA stopping you stealing it.

1 for all is his brothers quirk, which he misses and tries his best to get back but everybody else sells his inheritence to shady buyers online.
Imagine, you have a brother, he is your only family, (the rest is dead for this example,) he has a child and your brother dies, not only is that child taken away by his mother but she forbids you from interacting with that child for unknown reasons so you can never see him and she also keeps moving from country to country so you cant see your nephew no matter how much you try.
Wouldnt that drive you crazy eneough to the point of doing the worst to her just so you can see your only family left?
AFO is evil, greedy and pridefull, but all he really wants is to gain the last piece of his brother to remeber him by, even if it kills him which OFA would do the moment he tries activating that quirk.

    My Problems with AFO
    1. AFO could've had his Nomu first blind and cripple Eraser Head before bringing him to AFO to steal his quirk for Tomura.
    Success of AFO
    1. AFO wanted to gradually increase Tomura's notoriety so all hidden powerful villain factions will take his successor seriously which they did.
    2. AFO allowed himself to remain in Tartarus Prison to force all his villain rivals to come out of the shadows for Tomura and other Heroes to cripple and later topple.
    3. AFO allowed the High-End Nomus to be used to assess the strength of all the top 10 Pro-Heroes like Endeavor.
    4. AFO, through Garaki, managed to convince Tomura to accept the AFO quirk power in which his own visage will take over to create a demon lord entity.
    5. AFO doesn't care if Tomura defeats his visage because that proves he is worthy to be his successor. In Star Wars, Darth Bane wanted his successor, Darth Zannah, to overthrow him to solidify her own power to become the new Dark Lord of the Sith. When he died, Bane's soul tried to possess Zannah's body and she managed to destroy Bane's soul proving that she is truly a worthy successor to Darth Bane and leading the Sith Order.
    6. The story will likely end with Shigaraki becoming the new Demon Lord but one who truly cares for the legacy of AFO, Destro, and Oji Harima.

    • @mahistv

@@mahistv It is not out of character considering how AFO actually told Tomura he didn't care if Tomura himself defeated the AFO visage form. Plus, AFO is not immortal as the Life Force Quirk only gives him a long lifespan, not immortality. The AFO visage's actions will likely cause Tomura to leave AFO's shadow and start his own goals of motivation: a combination of AFO, Destro, and Oji Harima's beliefs of destroying the corrupt and complacent society of Heroes. This is due to how Tomura as the blessing and support of AFO, Redestro (Destro's son), and Mr. Compress (Oji Harima's grandson).
