The window thing saves my dog. What's fun is to make up options your truck has and go back to the dealer and tell him you really appreciate the heated and cooling system on your steering wheel. Or the vibration the seats have. The salesperson goes nuts trying to find those options he didn't charge you for. Thank you for the tips. Video well done.
I got to be honest I have never been a fan of Ford not even a little bit but yesterday I decided to try something different and bought a 2013 F150 and it's starting to grow on me. It's not bad at all.

Awesome video. I just bought a 2014 f150 with all the bells and whistles after driving a 1994 Chevy k2500 work truck. I think I might be ruined with all this luxury. The most advanced thing in my old truck was a radio. Just a radio. Not even a cassette deck 😂. I do miss how simple that truck was but all the tech in my new truck has made all my farm work a lot easier.
I have always bought work trucks, Ford and Dodge (the Chevvies were both junk terrible trucks) On my last one I splurged a little and bought a loaded Lariat. This thing is a marvel of engineering and design genius. It also has this baaaddaaasss 5 Liter Coyote V-8 which makes it a riot to drive. I will never look in another direction. This thing is a sweetheart! Great video and thanks for sharing.
I didn't know that my 2014 F150 with a bench seat had a storage compartment under the center seat cushion until one day I was cleaning it out and notice this handle on the lower center of the seat cushion. And I've had this truck for four years.

Was a GMC owner, got this one on a whim to fit in my garage. Love love love my ford 187K Texas miles and going strong still. These will get over 200k easily.
Nice video dude! Just got my first F150 and absolutely loving it, however for me, "MyKey" was more of a pain in the ass than helpful. I bought it used, and the dealer didn't tell me the one key they gave me wasn't the admin key, I activated MyKey almost by accident, and it locked me to below 80mph which I feel is a real safety liability. Had to pay $300 to the dealer for a new admin key + programming. Oh well, worth it for such an awesome truck!
It also has hill descent control. If the cruise is on and you go down a mountain it will first downshift and if it still don’t slow down it applies the brakes.
The hill descent control and that brake pressure application gauge are both optional. The feature that he's talking about is called Hill start assist or HSA
That pressure sensing window can be a huge PITA...in the northern US with snow, ice and supper cold temps when things are stiff, you can fight with that bleeping bleep bleeping thing for ever before it’ll close!!
The prospect of discovering "unknown" features in my truck when I finally get around to cleaning my 2015 F150 has almost got me motivated to actually clean the truck...almost.
And another one is press and hold the ok button with the engine off and start the truck as normal while keeping the ok button depressed until you get an Engineering test page. You can see trans temp in degrees , coolant temp by degree, battery voltage. Some good info non the least. Cheers bud.
Great honest video. My only concern about the window thing is; if your trying to end a conversation with some undesirable and they stick there hand/arm through. I would rather the window stopped rather than go back down and give them more access to me or a loved one. Matbe if it went down an inch but not 8 inches.
Thank you! You know, you bring up a valid point there. I'm guessing more children's head have gotten stuck in the window then people getting attack. But still something to keep in mind.
My father use to have a 2010 Silverado and it was a good truck, definitely got the job done. I'm kinda a Ford guy myself and liked the feel of the f150 more.

Just bought a new F150 XLT with a 2.7 ecoboost. First truck and I bought a Ford solely because the dealership has a lifetime powertrain warranty. First new vehicle since 1986. I bought the 2.7 for gas milage and it has ample power for me as I never will tow anything. I did get the trailer assist package as we have a small trailer. This package only works with trailers that you place a special sticker on. It has to be programmed for specific trailers based on their dimensions.
Haha I too get excited about little features like that, dude. I got a 2012 F150 last year and I didn't learn about a lot of it's cool little features until after I bought it. I'm really happy with it. I had no idea the center of balance was somehow done differently so it can take corners easier or that it could tow twice it's weight, and mine doesn't even have 4 wheel drive. It also automatically adjusts the stereo volume up when the engine gets louder, then goes down as you decelerate. Oh the charging port will also keep charging your phone even when you turn the engine off, but it somehow doesn't kill the truck battery. My mind is blown. Lol
Dude, I drove a '98 F150 with NO features (power windows, locks, cruise control, nothing) for 6 years. I just got a new F150 and I was ecstatic about the power windows! My manual ones would get stuck with ice in the winter.
Agent 47 I had and still have a 96 F-150 it’s Eddie bower so it has the fancy’s for the year but how quit it is inside this new F-150 is amazing and that my seat moves more then forward and back is so nice but I still love my obs fords too I’ll keep it forever
Thanks buddy for the great information and glad I found your RUclips. I have a 2012 F150 and your videos have helped especially with me being new to towing. Reading the manual helps but videos are much better. With that said when do you use the Tow/Haul button on the driver’s side of the shifter?
Dude, you are a TRIP... Had my 2013 FX4 ecoboost for 2 weeks & learning new stuff almost everyday. I'mma try the window thing out before I leave for work today. 1st thing I thought about was my best friends poor little pinky I mashed in my window last Winter. He still holds that against me to this day. 4 bar tabs, 3 car washes, & an oil change still won't erase his drunk mistake of leaving his pinky in my Buick window's destructive path wile I "UP" it...
The very last one, with the window. I didn’t know there was a safety feature bringing it back down. There’s been times when I would shut my truck off, pull up to close the window automatically as I open my door. But if the door would open to far and it would kick on the door strap, the window would go back down sometimes
pretty cool thanks. I knew about the hill assist and the first thing you mentioned but didn't know about the trailer brakes and windows. honestly I don't think I'll know everything on my truck before I trade in for a new one. something I recently learned is the lights automatically come on any time the wipers are in use. I just learned to pull out on the light switch to activate the fog lights and to pull out on the 4x4 switch to lock up the rear differential.
Thanks! I just bought a used 2014 F-150 4x4 like yours. You just educated me. The Honda dealership I bought it from did not!... and it's difficult to read the manual because it lists features you may or may not have!
After watching this video and reading the comments out of curiosity, I am amazed at how many people do not know the first rule of driving a vehicle.... Know Your Vehicle. When you get a new or used vehicle, borrow someone's, or rent a vehicle, you are supposed to read the owners Manual. You would have known those features and many more had you done that when you got the vehicle. Good job on the video, I did hear you mention for people to read the manual somewhere during it.
You have an alarm built in for door opening only. Lock doors wait 30 sec alarm is armed. If you unlock the driver door with the key you have 15 sec to out key in ignition or disarm alarm with remote (unlock or panic) If you leave windows down unlock a passenger door while alarm armed, alarm is immediate
I was shocked you never mentioned the storage behind rear seat. You can fold rear seat bottom up slide hand down behind headrest and feel for nub on lock and slide that down and bring seat back down. It is not too big but I keep a blanket and jumper cables there. And my F-150 does not have subwoofer but under seat bottom (driver side rear) I have an emergency funnel for my ez-fill gas anyway that funnel is in a removable tray, that tray comes out for a hidden storage good size for bats or rifles. I hunt. Maybe that will be of use to you buddy.
I did not know about the window stop, I plan on testing tonight. I have towed a trailer several times with my truck, be did not notice if it prevented it from initially rolling backwards. I do not have a trailer break accessory either. Thanks for the cool tips. I also plan on adding remote start soon to my F-150. Just like you I Love My Truck.
Great to know about truck window. My dog would step on power window switch while hanging her head out window.. A real problem, also she would set off power door locks on my ford truck, I’m glad they finally changed the door lock location. My dog locked me out many times, once with the engine running, after that I ALWAYS had a spare key on me even to pump gas. My 2007 toyota has the window reverse feature but only on drivers side, Il will check the passenger side on my F 150.....
The window thing is a great safety feature till it gets a "mind of it's own". My 2017 Fusion has the no pinch feature too. Close on something and they bounce right open. Another cool thing is if car is sitting in sun with windows up, temp in car is 150 degrees. You can press the unlock button on the key fob "TWICE" as you approach the car and all the windows will open letting the heat out. All windows close again if you press the lock button on the fob "TWICE". Mind of it's own???? I put the passenger side window down to talk to a neighbor then I lifted the switch for it to close and as soon as it got to the top and closed it bounced right back open again. Nothing was in the channel, I used the switch where you just lift it part way and the window will stop and continue as you move the switch. Took it to the dealer and they said--"they had to reprogram it". Since that time the Drivers side did the same thing. I found a fix here on U TUBE that works if you ever have the problem.-------Can't wait till I am going through a car wash, I give the guy the five, start through and close window but the window bounces right back open and I get a bath interior of car too. LOL! Will be ready to work the switch part way to close----------I hope.
Once they (window) will not stay closed that's it. I tried closing the window 15 times and it opened right back up as soon as it was fully closed. I tried lifting the switch just part way/enough to move the window closed but not all the way where it travels shut. I still had to leave it open by a 1/8 to 1/4 inch. If I closed it all the way to the top it bounced right back open even in the manual mode. I drove to the dealer with it closed to about 1/8 inch from the top. The fix on U Tube is---------You press the switch down and hold it down for 5 to 10 seconds after the window is fully open. Then lift the switch up and hold it up for 5 to 10 seconds after the window is fully up/closed. You may have to do that several times as when holding the switch up, and window closes, it may still bounce right back open a few times. But it does eventually work, saving a trip to dealer. Is that hard on the motor? I don't know for sure but I don't hear the motor trying to still run or strain after all the way open or closed. I think the mechanism reprograms and shut the power off when it resets.
The window feature was a response to children that were strangled by earlier power windows... it really happened too many times... also changed was the power window switch... older cars often had widow controls that powered up if stepped on by little kids.
You can also set the mykey to make it to where the truck doesn’t ding with you don’t put your seatbelt on. Also I learned that you can tap the end of the blinker where you turn the windshield washer on and it will just wipe the windshield once instead of turning the knob on and back off. Plus you can just push the blinker up or down a tad and the blinker will blink three times and shut off. But if you hook up a trailer and do this it’ll blink 6 times I think.
The ABS trailer brakes (Did Not Know That) Thanks, But the window thing had me chuckling :) because I ran into some trouble after installing some Weather-Tech Window Shades on my 2015 F150, They slide up into the window frame so you don't have to use double sided tape to attach to the truck. Butttt this caused just enough extra pressure to cause problems until they wore in a little, like the first downpour of the of rain, luckily I could stop window just before top (Which takes some practice) and after 3 years its no longer an issue.
The window thing could turn out to be a bad thing in an emergency, I heard once there was a lady who caught a carjacker's hand by rolling up the window while his hand was still inside, she then drove I believe 4 or 5 miles to the police station making him walk all the way.
I can't wait for winter. My 2008 Ranger windows use to freeze in the up position. Got Tired of carrying a flamethrower everywhere. I hope the window in my F150 isn't so sensitive that it stays down with frost on it. It was embarrassing going through the drive in windows.
Hey Mitch......love the vids. 2 questions..........i have a 2013 XL bare bones. It doesn't have any screens on the dash but i did get it with a tow package when i ordered it. It has a Tow/ Haul button and wired for 7 pin and 4 pin trailer and a trailer hitch. It doesn't have the electronic break module like the one you installed on your other video. So the questions are.......can i get this installed and use it without having the information screen in the dash .........and what was the cost to unlock the module at the dealership.........thanks
I'm not exactly positive on it, but if you install the factory brake controller an then have it unlocked (anywhere from $50-$130 depends on the dealer) it should still display the output in the center cluster with the smaller screen.
Installing an aftermarket trailer break is easy, if you are uncomfortable with doing it auto zone can sell the part and there are You-tube videos to show us that too. We just click a wire and maybe use double faced tape (mounting tape) and short screws to mount unit under steering wheel. Not that bad of a job honestly.
I didn't know about abs trailer brakes. I didn't know about radio volume on mykey I do trailer two trailers one doesn't have brakes and second uses surge brakes so I haven't used either.
There's so many other things that are worth mentioning in the dash system that no one knows about. I didn't know about the window Safty feature though. Good to know I guess
+micjr21 yes there is but I'm sure a 30min video of me showing all of that would get boring, just wanted to summarize the ones I found so this way people could go mess around with their trucks.
I knew about Ford’s mykey but never used it because I never wanted to put controls on myself or another driver. But you comment about volume control intrigued me. I recently bought a new Ford Edge that also has mykey. The navigation giving turning voice instruction is too low to hear. I will check to see if I can raise the volume with my key settings.
Also, check out some videos on Fords Electronic Stability Control. Of course I still use a weight distribution hitch with sway control, but the truck will actually brake just the driver side or passenger side if the trailer gets sway crazy. I've owned Ford trucks since 1997 and love em! 2 Rangers, 2 F150's and a full size Bronco tossed in the mix.
The trailer sway control is an awesome feature and it was weird the first time I felt it kick in. Bronco is definitely on my list of trucks I want to own at some point.
Yeah it's awesome. I do wish it had a tighter threshold though. A little wiggle and it does nothing. I hate wiggle. 😂 But I've actually tried making it sway with some left-rght wheel jerks and it recovers brilliantly. You can do some pretty serious evasive maneuvering with it, and that was pulling a 24' cargo trailer.
I have talked with several hitch manufacturers and they all say to shut the truck sway control off with a sway control hitch. They can fight each other and actually make it worse.
2010 F-150 that I have has an info center located in the cluster where the odometer is and if you click the reset a few times find settings and hold it goes to oil life, miles to empty and you will get to trailer sway hold button then it will ask turn Trailer Sway ON/Off hold button it will switch to your choice it will confirm click button. After confirmation of switching of Sway for trailer you can automatically return the info center to hold for setting click reset and it should cycle through vehicle health report. (You can hold the button and cycle through that area) or just leave info center alone and have info center reset itself and go out of the menus section.
Features you failed to mention Automatic starter. In other words you start it, the starter cranks only as long as needed or up to X seconds 10 12 I think Try it. Hold the key in the start position will stop cranking. Or just flick your key. It will continue to crank Because of the aforementioned, you have remote start basically built in can activate it with a $12 software, $35 dongle and program your keys with it MyKey let's you set a maximum speed Your traction control pulses one wheel or one side wheel brake to try to mimic a limited slip. But be warned it doesn't work like a limited slip or locker so if you don't have it upgrade To put your transfer case in neutral put trans in neutral, foot on the brake flick the 4wd control to 4wd and back to 2wd 8 times. Puts it in flat tow mode Your automatic transmission is ALL electronic so much so you can slam it in reverse at 70mph or more and it won't go into reverse until you come to a full stop OEM trailer brakes can also be added with the same aforementioned $12 software and $30 dongle called ForScan You can add 2way long range remote start. NO PROGRAMMING REQUIRED with the glass break alarm addition, bi-ditectional antenna, wire harness, and remote OEM plug and play Your elocking rear diff disengages at 20 or 25mph You do NOT have limited slip or locking front diff unless you have a raptor or bolt it in like I did from an 04 rear mustang in my front 8.8"
That's funny but It's a great safety feature if--"for instance" (I'm not saying kids should be allowed to play in car)-- kids are playing in car, one closes window while other has head out or pet has head out--window will bounce right open on neck contact. Read my post above on these "MAGIC" windows Dan.
So I love my f150 too. 2009 real nice, but the window thing... my 04 pathfinder has all of that. The auto up and down as well as the preasure safety. In addition if you hit the lock button on the key fob once, release then press and hold the front windows roll down. Not in the new f150s, not even my 2019 work truck. Just saying some features are a bit behind on american cars but eh, dont buy a truck for windows and buttons right :).
The window thing saves my dog. What's fun is to make up options your truck has and go back to the dealer and tell him you really appreciate the heated and cooling system on your steering wheel. The window pressure is so cool. It makes sure an aggressive pan handler or car jacker can really get in your vehicle. Thanks ford!

Must’ve been why I just blew a tire towing my camper on a long flat road 😂
You can also turn the stereo on without putting the key in the ignition switch. Push the stereo power button and she turns on.

Your back seats will fold down too. There is a latch pin hard to get too directly under the headrest

Just bought a ‘12 F150 Super Crew XTR and I love it!! Some of the features I was aware of, whereas others I was not. Great info!!!
I Just recently I bought myself a 2014 F150 XLT Super Crew XTR. It has the 6.2L and just crossed over to 108K.
What size engine you got?
I didn't know the lights came on with the wipers!
Thanks! I just bought a used 2014 F-150 4x4 like yours. You just educated me. The Honda dealership I bought it from did not!... and it's difficult to read the manual because it lists features you may or may not have!
Haha Lmao went to Honda Dealer and bought Ford F-150 I did the same buddy the F-150 are just flipping awesome aren’t they? Good luck!!!! 😎
I had no clue about the window thing, but super cool. going to test that on my 14 f150 tomorrow. love the video!
You have an alarm built in for door opening only. Lock doors wait 30 sec alarm is armed. If you unlock the driver door with the key you have 15 sec to out key in ignition or disarm alarm with remote (unlock or panic)
If you leave windows down unlock a passenger door while alarm armed, alarm is immediate
Congratulations on your new truck. I believe you will love it. I have the 08 and 14 limited f-150. And I love my trucks.
New to me 2013 f150 just realized there are two spots for your feet when working under the hood.. thought that was helpful when doing my sparkplugs
Unfortunately that's only for the super crews and not the super cabs like I have. It would be nice to have that extra storage though.
I didn't know about the window stopping.. that's badass 👌
I have a 2011 F-150 4x4 single cab
Great video brother! Blessed you!!
Just like you I Love My Truck.
it wont work w/ a 4 pin hook up.
Apparently your dog felt it needed space from you. 🤣
I've an into it where when you hit a bump at the same time the window stops going up. But so far hasn't gotten a mind of its own. 👍
Also your headlights comes on with the wipers. And electronic power steering.
The window feature was a response to children that were strangled by earlier power windows... it really happened too many times... also changed was the power window switch... older cars often had widow controls that powered up if stepped on by little kids.
Correct, I kept the tires for my truck and sold the rims to someone.
Totally didn't know about the window feature!! Badass thanks.
The side mirrors extend for towing a trailer.
I just bought a 2011 Ford F-150 and found this interesting. Thanks.
I bet you didn't know that you can drop down the back seat back of your crew cab to store goodies in the back seat access!
I didn't know about the seat belt and my key, I'll have to look into that, thank you!
+jordan house please tell how the mykey can disable the seatbelt "ding" that drives me mad... thx
Tell me more about the seatbelt chime! I need to turn mine back on!! I keep forgetting to buckle up more than I like.
Neat. Just bought a 2014 f150 xl today. Can't wait to try these.
You should mention what year/s vehicle you’re talking about
7:26 can you hold the up button to bypass it?
The ABS trailer brakes (Did Not Know That) Thanks, But the window thing had me chuckling :) because I ran into some trouble after installing some Weather-Tech Window Shades on my 2015 F150, They slide up into the window frame so you don't have to use double sided tape to attach to the truck. Butttt this caused just enough extra pressure to cause problems until they wore in a little, like the first downpour of the of rain, luckily I could stop window just before top (Which takes some practice) and after 3 years its no longer an issue.
I've heard stories about the window shades being an issue. People said that the window has to "learn" it's new stopping point.
The window thing could turn out to be a bad thing in an emergency, I heard once there was a lady who caught a carjacker's hand by rolling up the window while his hand was still inside, she then drove I believe 4 or 5 miles to the police station making him walk all the way.
The window thing is super cool!! I had no idea they did that!!
I can't wait for winter. My 2008 Ranger windows use to freeze in the up position. Got Tired of carrying a flamethrower everywhere. I hope the window in my F150 isn't so sensitive that it stays down with frost on it. It was embarrassing going through the drive in windows.
That's why sometimes I miss my manual crank windows.
Just add a light coat of silicone, to the rubber around the windows. Stops the freeze up! (I live in Idaho)
I didn't realize my 2013 F150 has electronic locking rear diff, until I was reading up on different features on the info screen
how many hours did you sit in your truck figuring out all this stuff?
I do a lot of driving and road trips where I get bored. So I go through the system. Haha
Thanks, did not realize the ABS trailer brake feature or the window brake. Good stuff to know.
Cant tell you how many times I forget to put my arm in before I close the window
I hope you are kidding. I am 64 years old and have never done that.
@@jeffstanley4593 sarcasm bro.. sarcasm
Thanks I didn’t know about the my key with the music volume control, and the windows too cool now my nephew can’t get his arm stuck.
Great Job, that’s cool.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great video i didn’t know about the window safety feature
Today cleaning my 13 f150 I found a another set of cup holders under my arm rest
I didn't know about abs trailer brakes.
I didn't know about radio volume on mykey
I do trailer two trailers one doesn't have brakes and second uses surge brakes so I haven't used either.
An f150 is my dream truck man
I’ve never had an issue with any power windows in my trucks but I have had issues with all my crank windows.
Cool, I had a 95 ranger before upgrading to a 2012 fx4 5.0, couldnt be happier!
Rangers are great little vehicles! But definitely like my f150 as well!
What year is your truck..i have a 2013..
What year is your Ford F150
I've had my truck for 9 years. I never knew how to turn on the fog 🌁 lights. We never have Fog though 😕
Hmm interesting, it's worth a look for sure.
David Holmes navigation volume can be adjusted with steering wheel volume controls. Just have to adjust while navigation is talking.
But I've actually tried making it sway with some left-rght wheel jerks and it recovers brilliantly.
Hell, I didn't know that either......and I got this truck almost 10 years.
wow, number 4 was cool!
Also if you have the tow package truck rides like a skate board.
Got a 2014 knew this when I read owners manual, get ya one.
Thats pretty cool window feature. I didn't know any of those features until now. Thanks
Features you failed to mention
Automatic starter. In other words you start it, the starter cranks only as long as needed or up to X seconds 10 12 I think
Try it. Hold the key in the start position will stop cranking. Or just flick your key. It will continue to crank
Because of the aforementioned, you have remote start basically built in can activate it with a $12 software, $35 dongle and program your keys with it
MyKey let's you set a maximum speed
Your traction control pulses one wheel or one side wheel brake to try to mimic a limited slip. But be warned it doesn't work like a limited slip or locker so if you don't have it upgrade
To put your transfer case in neutral put trans in neutral, foot on the brake flick the 4wd control to 4wd and back to 2wd 8 times. Puts it in flat tow mode
Your automatic transmission is ALL electronic so much so you can slam it in reverse at 70mph or more and it won't go into reverse until you come to a full stop
OEM trailer brakes can also be added with the same aforementioned $12 software and $30 dongle called ForScan
You can add 2way long range remote start. NO PROGRAMMING REQUIRED with the glass break alarm addition, bi-ditectional antenna, wire harness, and remote OEM plug and play
Your elocking rear diff disengages at 20 or 25mph
You do NOT have limited slip or locking front diff unless you have a raptor or bolt it in like I did from an 04 rear mustang in my front 8.8"
What year is your F-150? I’m a proud owner of a 1999 F-150
Mine is a 2013, and they're pretty awesome trucks no matter what year.
2 things I wish ford added to the 2009-2014 gen was the backseat armrest and the speedometer. But beggars cant be choosers
The auto reversing feature on the window is a safety for small children
What year is your truck? Mine is a 2010.
Thanks looking forward to more tips
Should show how to activate hill assist and where to start the my key setup.
What year is your F 150 ???
Your trailer lights have their own fuses. So if the lights on your trailer have a short, your truck lights will still work.
Yes! And I'm thankful it does because one of my old trailers shorted out on a road trip.
Quite frankly, if a person is attempting to roll the window up onto their arm, perhaps they should not be behind the steering wheel to begin with!
That's funny but It's a great safety feature if--"for instance" (I'm not saying kids should be allowed to play in car)-- kids are playing in car, one closes window while other has head out or pet has head out--window will bounce right open on neck contact. Read my post above on these "MAGIC" windows Dan.
You know he just told a story of when he did that exact thing
Helpful. Didnt know that info about the brakes for the trailer. Getting a camper soon, so that was good news. Thanks.
Glad to hear my video was helpful!
Did you know that if you pull out on the 4x4 selector switch, it’ll fully lock your rear axle... at least my 2014 FX4 F150 it has the option
If your truck is equipped with the electronic locking diff.
I'm totally gonna go try my window right now 😂
Good job. Thank you
So I love my f150 too.
My sister 07 Honda Accord also had that window feature i was like wtf😂
Thank you! I didn't know about these features!!!
