I installed mine today watched maybe 12 videos this is by far the best video explaining what each cord is for and where it goes how to manipulate the trim without breaking it I wasn’t sure if I could do this myself honestly but I did and it was easy and saved myself so money in the end so thank you! Good video
I can't thank you enough for this. I did my install today and this was a flawless guide. This is a great, cost effective way to modernize an the 2009-2012 F150 (and some 2013s like mine).
First of all, this is a great tutorial for the installation. For those of you who may have experienced frustration because of no sound, I may have your solution. I noticed on the Amazon page that there is a wiring diagram. It details what to do in the event there is no sound. There is a wire labeled "Amp Control" (the one I have is brown) that is in the bundle of cables with the RCA female cables and the mic adapter cable. You have to strip the end of the wire and connect it to the "Amp Power/Amp Control" wire (mine is blue). You will find the "Amp Power/Amp Control" wire in the same bundle as the male RCA cables. Use electrical tape or shrink wrap sleeve to keep the wires together. This solved the no sound issue for me. I would first double-check your installation to make sure everything is put in the correct spot. Then check your fuses. Finally, I would connect the Amp wires, if all else fails. Good luck!
Thank you for posting, it was really helpful to us with my friends 2010 work truck f150. He had problems with stock stereo not playing very well (extremely low volume) and the new jvc single din radio fixed the issue!
Excellent video Thank you. I had a different brand that I installed but the steps were the same. Naifay is what I got from Amazon. They provided a harness part that said FORD. Initially, I used this and tried it before slapping it back together in the dash. It did not work. This must be for Platinums or something with the digital heat/Ac. My 2011 fx4 is loaded but due to the Japanese tsunami at the time, I could not get navigation. I did not need to use the clips taken from the OEM on the new unit. When I dummied up a couple before doing the wiring , it seemed like it would be an issue through the rest of the swap with them falling off. Bottom line is, those were not necessary for mine. It is all back together and I did not even put the bottom fastener in near the USB input. The unit is plenty tight. No vibration whatsoever. I hope someone reads this and is able to save time. Thanks again for the video.
@@MrDUNCANJA same here!! He mentioned a spot on the back of the unit where the canbus should be plugged in, but never showed that step. I THINK I missed that! I didn't know if that had anything to do with our issue of it not turning off or not...? Gonna go take a look later today...
@@scottdietz7963 no. Apparently there's a red wire off the canbus that needs to be spiced into some other factory wire. It's painful trying to get any kind of support from these guys. I put my old stereo back in. Returning this one.
I'm going to give this a go on my 2011 FX4. One question, about a year ago, my stock radio quit working. It started with certain speakers not working and finally it won't even turn on. I read that it's common for these units - something internally in the CD player section comes unsoldered. I'm hoping that this system will allow my newer Alpine speakers to work again. From my 1990's car stereo days, I wonder if there's anytime of amplifier on this new unit? What's your thoughts?
This unit made the stock speakers in this truck sound so much better than the stock radio did. So I’m sure it will make you alpine speakers work again and sound much better.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE big thanks for the video. I installed it on Saturday and got all of the speakers finally working on Sunday. My only hiccup was getting that passenger side panel (air vent, 12v plug) clipped into the new radio panel in the center. It just won’t align and seat in
Great video. I'm planning on buying this unit now also. Do you know if I can use my existing backup camera wires but run them to this unit instead of using the small one in my mirror?
I believe the link to the radio kit needs to be updated. It goes to one that does have the wiring harness or the correct adapter plate. If possible, please confirm and/or update. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for video. I bought the same one, I installed but there is no sound. Do we need to plug the red and white cable? I tried but nothing happened.
So far so good no issues at all. Can’t beat the price and functionality. I’d say it’s just as good if not better than major brands like kenwood, alpine, and jvc that go for $700-$1500
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE sooo, if I didn't plug the canbus in like you had stated (but never showed that), could that be the reason my unit doesn't shut off when I remove the key? 🤷
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE I wonder if there is a canbus setting in the the thing that allows you to display the temp. Or mabye if you use a obd2 app to show it. Not sure if this is something you tried to explore.
I ended up taking that display unit and re-routing the wire into my dash, and that's where it lives for now until I 3D print a housing that can be mounted somewhere out of way but visible.
I know its been a bit but the issue is the accessory cable (red) on the display is always hot. It can be fixed by placing onto an accessory wire but I am still working on that portion.
Hello, I recently installed a similar Android radio. My radio came with an unbranded can bus and I’m having a hard time setting up the steering wheel controller. Were you able to set that up?

How is the sound quality on these units?
Actually really good. It brought the stock speakers to life in my opinion.
I got one of there’s not the same brand but looks the exact same but I never booted up do you possibly know what the problem might be
I would double check all you connectors and make sure the unit is getting power. Unless you received a faulty unit.

How do you know what temp your vehicle is ? When i go to the controls for heat and air on screen it shows nothing and i cannot operate them
I notice that it says Android will it only work well an Android phone outside of the radio portion of it.
