    Good morning from Canada
I use a very small strip of paper tape and it does stick well and I get air on either side and unable to open my mouth. I remove it slowly and have no after effects.
I even took a long strip and used it under my chin, ear to ear to support my jaw. Not sure about that one though.
I will try anything to get off this treatment. Doing very well with weight loss.
Thanks Nick for all your videos.

One trick I learned is to put a piece of soft silicone tape (1-inch width) on the lips. That is super easy to remove from the sensitive skin of the lips. I then put a larger 2-inch wide strip of cover roll stretch tape over that. No pain at all when removing. I am sure you could do the same with kineseology tape.

I use 3M Transpore for mouth taping with my full face mask which is very cost effective and easy to tear without the need for cutting (although I do cut a small hole before attaching to allow some mouth breathing). However, the humidity in the mask softens the adhesive and every morning its a bit of a challenge, even with soap to remove the residue from my face. Any suestions?
P.S. I always put vaseline lip balm on before attaching the Transpore so it doesn't stick to my lips!

What a coincidence that today you posted this review; I ordered this last week off of FB, received my shipment yesterday and used it last night for the first time. I have to say I'm quite happy with the experince....I can still breath through the tape but it keeps my mouth from opening (I'm a mouth breather) while using the CPAP. I didn't wake up at all with dry-mouth and it seemed like I slept deeper too (I had 0.1 occurrences last night according to my CPAP app.) . I'll definitely be using this tape every night from now on.

Are there any potential issues with the Co2 blower getting blocked during the night with your mouth taped?

  • @john99776
    @john99776 Год назад +4

No tape holds to facial hair - or any face, really - without the possibility of coming loose during the night. But my solution works and is cheap. Cover Roll stretch tape on the mouth, and then elastic surgical bandage over it and fastened to itself around the back of the neck. 100% dependable and comfortable - all night, every night. Cover Roll piece lasts about 3 nights, and elastic many more, before using new pieces off the rolls.
Why 2 separate things? The Cover Roll isn't as stretchy, so it keeps your mouth closed. The elastic is stretchy and has large pores, but it's good at putting enough pressure on the Cover Roll to keep it in place, even as the adhesive gets weaker. Their individual strengths complement each other.

I used Nexcare tape for a while, but would always start choking at some point during the night. Switched to Hostage and it works great. I know it's $199 per year, but that's .55 c per day I believe. Not a bad trade off for a much better nights sleep with no open mouth breathing.

It is a bit controversial with traditional MD’s especially if you already have more significant respiratory issues ( COPD, emphysema, asthma etc) or blocked nasal passages. With that nasal sprays can help clear the nasal passages before going to sleep. Good resource is James Nestor who wrote “Breath” - you can find him on RUclips and some dentists he’s worked with over the years Re this matter. I was fearful of it at first but my sleep results have improved significantly since I started tapping - and no more dry mouth.

Slightly off topic... but does anyone else have problems with drooling in there sleep?
Imagine could be an issue with mouth tape.
I wear a fullface mask (sinus issue), and sleep drooling is a problem. The saliva accumulates in the mask, and my face gets wet and cold, and wakes me up. I has also led to a problem breaking cushions. In my half asleep state I pull at the mask, half awake I pull and use my pyjamas to wipe and absorb the fluid... often needing more than one go.
I have broken the silicon seal on about 4 cushions of two brands and three types of mask... ususlly not long after the warranty period (90days).
I don't drool like this every night, but quite often. Suspect it may have something to do with asthma (anaethetist once told me they can tell who is asthmatic during gastroscope because they drool).
Anyone else have this, and any ideas how to stop it waking you up or damaging mask cushions?

    It’s just KT tape!
I bought a 150 foot roll on Amazon. It brought the cost down to about seven cents apiece. I do a narrow strip and just do it from below your nose to the center of your chin the width of the tape up and down.
In an emergency, I can still breathe through the sides if I stretch the tape a little bit with my lips.
    Pro tip :
Put force your lips together, then put the tape over. In the morning: Get the tape wet and it comes off easier.

if you want to mouth tape when you sleep, then just go to walgreens or walmart or any pharmacy and buy first aid tape, that is what my husband uses.

Well that sucks! Whenever i send gear overseas i always put a super low value on the customs dec. I'd put like $20 for mouth tape. Can't do much about the conversion but they stitched you up with the import value.

@@CPAPReviews it's legitimately KT tape. (Kinesiology tape) I wish I knew ahead of time. And Kt tape comes in 20 PRECUT STRIPS: 10" L x 2" W. So literally 32 dollars Canadian a year. and you just got to cut the stop.
