Yes MORE chords. Loving these but can you try and teach how to structure songs in context with chord progressions and how scales have a role in writing lead?
I think since you have published some songs you are a real musician! Any little tips you have for songwriting in this genre/adjective XP would be amazing.
i couldnt understand each time i watched a video of these chords, but now i guess im getting it, i guess i can move these shapes around and change the tones. thanks alot, im starting to play this kind of music style, i really love how it sounds
Hey, Steve! Lovely video. I’m very glad you also went over odd time signatures. Reading about them is useful, but hearing it explained, while listening to an example, made 5/8 incredibly clear. Thanks!
Just bought your e book and I love it!!! Quick question though there's so many exercises for the different techniques could you suggest a weekly or structured practice routine to help keep me on track.
Love the major 9 chord. I am writing a piece now with a lot of them in it. Also fun sounding with some whammy bar action. But this is probably more Shoegaze...
Hello Steve, thx for the good instructions of always, I just wrote a song using Dm9 and Am11 in my acoustic guitar, your channel has been my great support to learn midwest emo/math rock, thx!!!! The song is the last video on my channel if you want to check it!!!!
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock Thanks! I would love to try to dial-in your tone sometime. A simple close pic of your pedal & amp settings would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Steve, can I bother you with some questions? Have you ever had problems with noise when conecting your pedalboard to your interface ? What power supply r u using?
I was having problems with some noise when I was using a pretty cheap power supply. I recently got a truetone 1 spot CS7 and it solved every noise issue pretty much! Definitely worth investing in a more pricey power supply!
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock Oh thank you so much! I had noise problems and suspected it was my cheap power supply, but had no way of testing it. And interestingly enough you are the only one I've seen with this kind of setup.
I could strum on that major 9 chord for hours. I know all these chords and chord shapes. I just always get stuck when I try and go out of the intro into a verse.
Do any of these chord shapes work well in other tunings? Specifically drop tunings I'm just trying to understand how some of this stuff translates from tuning to tuning
Math rock is a genre that will always have a place in my heart. Blues and jazz will always be my favorites but math and prog definitely come next in line. Then death metal and funk 😂 I need help
Steve plays with beautiful midrange position and straight wrist the better your form the easier playing becomes. Make your life easier and learn proper technique and form
Do you know any songs in CGDGBD tuning? I can play only a few songs fron TTNG in this tunning like "If I Sit Still Maybe I'll Get Out Of Here" and others from their early stuff. Haven't found any other gropus to use that tuning though/

Yes STEVE! Who else tried to write riffs with these before the video was even over?
Cheers! 😁
You write bangers, fam!

I can have a go at that for sure, can't say I'll do an excellent job though, but I'll try 😅

@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock I agree with Nicholas's comment. Perhaps even just a verse and chorus. That would be pretty huge.

What's the difference between progressive rock and math rock?
Math rock is a genre that will always have a place in my heart. Blues and jazz will always be my favorites but math and prog definitely come next in line. Then death metal and funk 😂 I need help
How do you switch chords that fast?
Practice and proper form and technique.
