Thanks so much for having me broooo!
I love it when you're on Pauls channel, so we can get your videos but dumbed down to us mere mortals 😂✌️
Man, you are so underrated. Frankly, it’s Paul who should be visiting you.
@@user-pm2yq3wm9w I kind of agree with Rasmus. It’s nice to be entertained for a change.
Paul when I want high (highest) quality Poprock entertainment, Rotem when I want lofi fun and Jens Larsen if I feel like Jazz
All three masters of their own 💪👍
It was nice to meet you!
🙌🤙
Just wanna say, we might be less vocal, but there are a lot of music theory nerds who appreciate the "technical" language. It really helps making following along much easier!
I know, i know. I was really joking! But thanks for the reassurance 👌🙌
Beato
Especially when you're blind.✌️
@@demonicusa.k.a.theblindguy3929 Wow that’s awesome. I often practice playing music without my sight as well as think about how it would be having never seen, and it always surprises me how much more i “feel” the music. Maybe this is because I learned music with sight as a tool… who knows. Keep on music-ing! 🤙🏼
@@connorbannister405 Beato! :)
This 12 minute video kept me busy for over an hour. Easily one of the most helpful guitar videos I've ever seen, and from pretty much every possible musical angle. The tabs let me stop the video and try things, and the hesitant but enlightening sparks of music theory gave it definition. It's always awesome to learn a short piece of music and suddenly realize you have a dozen new things in the tool belt that can technically work anywhere.
Shame I can't See tabs properly on my cellphone/smartphone. :-(
When I watch Paul improvise like this I can imagine what it was like to sit in on the creative sessions of my favorite musicians… Beatles, Van/Jim Morrison, Stones, Zeppelin…
I want a 3 hour version of this, with the two of them improvising alternately.
🔥🥰
Agree!
Im in agreement here
Me tooo
There is kind a vibe of “can’t help falling in love” in this.
Beautiful
Funny, to me it sounds like Tears In Heaven :)
Lol, nobody knows you when you're down and out by clapton
Look it up
Most popular musics chore progressions are boring as fuck, nothing to worry about
I thought the same thing!
@@emanuelrusiecki6670 @Andrea Barbieri very similar progressions and great voice leading 👌🏼
That Gretsch is bloomin' lovely...
He needs to do more videos that feature this Gretsch
I've been a 45 year singer strummer.
Pick n grin at times but this tutorial alerted me to grow. This tutorial is the best I've ever heard and so well produced. Couched in a friendship of two brethern harmoniously jamming together almost.
The modeling, knowledge and variety expressed between you two is fantastic.
I've never saved anybody's Clinic before until now. Thank you friends.
I think you guys were accidentally channeling Elvis, with “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. I loved watching you guys work it out, rather than just blowing our minds with a perfect performance. Thanks!
It was driving me crazy lol. Thank you for also realizing this.
Holy fuxk thank god you said that lol
Definitely Can't Help Falling in Love-vibes. Also, more recent, Love Yourself by Justin Bieber/Ed Sheeran
It's more like Clapton's version of Nobody Knows you when you're down & out in places for me... Cool to see it riffed between them though. Fun vid.
@@magsmanston I can see that. It’s almost impossible NOT to be influenced by things you’ve been listening to for years, whether you know it or not!
Rotem's tone is stunning. What a cool video. I love these videos by Paul where he plays a simple idea and then expands on it, and having a guest just makes it that much more fun
I’ve learned so much in this 12 minutes that I can’t believe it. What a time we’re are living in that content like this is free for everyone. Thanks Paul for constantly inspiring me!!
This... is precisely how you get better as a musician: playing with other musicians. Accept no substitutes.
Unless they are chord substitutions. Those substitutes are cool! 😉
What if you cant cuz you live isolated? well watch paul videos and play along!
You two playing together sounds sooo good!
We definitely need more videos like this one.
It’s hypnotizing to watch you creating “live”, also it’s really helpful to listen to skilled guys sharing their knowledge
Wow you two together makes a lot of sense that didn’t before, I hope you two continue to help people like me who are lacking in theory, inversions etc.
Schitterende chords Paul! En de lekkere solo daarin gespeeld door je compagnon : Beautiful!!!
Absolutely Beautiful played! Dank!
🎸👍🏼
Rotem is such a great player and this simple tune became the foundation for a beautiful piece of music. I suspect Paul absolutely knows his theory yet jocularly plays up the mystery of it.
It reminds me a bit of Justin's song called "love yourself".
right??
That Gretsch is absolutely stunning. Also love the theory being taught - from a fellow music theory nerd!
@@retroman541 a G6128T I think. Or some variation of.
Would love to know!!!!
@@LouisMenotti is that the Nigel Hendroff Signature Gretsch
@@retroman541 Nice! I've got a G5230T electormatic Jet which I'm upgrading. I'd think that would be the closest equivalent. With a set of TVJ pickups, new bridge and a Bigsby B3c itl look at lot closer to a Duo jet. Of course it's probably easier to get a 5220 as then you can install a bigsby without swapping. I'm a long way from making these changes ans it won't be a top of the range Gretsch, but itl be close and itl have been fun to do!
@@georgemavimbela that would be a G6134TFM Penguine model. I think!
It's all about making them sound great! Cheers Paul and Rotem!!
Love this more improvised style of video! Its always cool to see what you prepared, but this format shows the thought process behind it too
Wow, you guys Paul and Rotem are absolutely the Legends and must do like this together again.
That's the exact Gretsch colour and hardware combo I've been drooling over lately.. love that machine..
Super agréable, ce format de leçon, à deux guitaristes ! Merci pour ce cours superbe !
The progression fits nicely under the opening vocal line from Elvis’ “I can’t help falling in love with you” (“Wise men say…”). But neo-soul.
I missed when this came out. But I love when you two collaborate together. The mixture of technical skills and rhythm with beautiful voicing and feeling turns a chord progression into music that I want to listen to all day.
Love it! My favorite style of chords, I used to call these "John Mayer chords" from watching him play years an years ago. I would watch his hands play twister over the fret board and go wth? Now I favor these all the time, great video!!! Great practice material.
Best guitar lesson I've ever watched thank you!
So much to learn here! Been messing with this for months. It's opened up so many previously unknown doors for my playing to advance. Cheers chaps 👍
Oh man, beautiful! Also this is my first time seeing Rotem. I'm really digging your style, Rotem!
Sounded great, guys.
I thought you were going to reveal that it was the making of "Tears in heaven '. Almost disappointed. But it was beautiful and rewarding. Thank you.
You and your people did an exceptional job making this accessible, informative, yet flowing like two buddies calling and answering. Love your videos!
They have no idea how Legends they are by making new compositions out of the blue.
The chord progression sounds like in the style of Eric Clapton. I love it.
yea sounds a lot like 'old love' ❤
Bell bottom blues
I was thinking Love you by Justin Bieber (I know, I was surprised too)
Been trying to write a song for a while now that I've been stuck on cause I've felt my chord progression was too boring. Hopefully this video will help me finish that song! Thanks for the great post!
make sure to upload it after it's finished, my man!
Paul you're a brillant teacher. You make it fun and keep it light. This little chord progression is basic and you turn it into actual interesting music with just a few little twists. brillant. all the best to you.
Cant stop hearing "Love yourself" by bieber over this. I guess thats basic chord progression in pop music for ya! Cool way to learn
It's now almost 12:30 AM in the midnight here in India, but I couldn't help but watch your video first before going to sleep. Brilliant content everytime. 🙏🏻👍
Whatever paul plays, they just sound heavenly.
😭♥️
@@PaulDavids I wasn't expecting the reply😭. I have learned so many cool stuffs from you. Eternally grateful for that❣️
Those spread voicings are so beautiful. My go to guitar chords. Some call them drop 2s.
Me too! Love ‘em, also learned them as drop 2’s
You just wrote James Bay "let it go" moving the bass around to find a position and a triad is amazing. Loved this video :-)
This may be my favorite video yet, I love the jam feel to this, really hope to see more of this style with the colab
That was great.. it’s really interesting to see all this “mind processes” going inside musician’s head. Thank you)
Another great lesson no matter the level you play..when the two of you get together its just amazing..mahalo
Anyone else just want to listen to Paul’s jamming? Anytime, anywhere, with anyone it is always so amazing!
Niiiiiiice & amen… “if it sounds good, it is good”… be musical
You guys should keep doing this very often! Loved it so much! ❣️
Channels like these will keep guitar growing. This is such an effective lesson for those that listen and work through it multiple times.
Geez you guys are so so talented. My mind was blown by the fact that you guys play smooth as butter with no buzzing or muting. Literally my dream is to be able to play like you guys
Sounds awesome! I keep hearing a mixup of I cant help falling in love with you by Elvis!
It is great to watch the creative process as it unfolds. It opens so many doors!! Great stuff! But I have so say that is sounds a lot like you guys reinvented 'Tears in Heaven' from Eric Clapton ;) haha! Well done!
Absolutely fantastic, thank you. The technical jargon helps a lot.
I couldn't help but hear 'How Deep is Your Love' in there.
Hello 👋 Craig. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I LOVE YOOOUUUUU.
Thank you so much for your appearances and all of this! **.**
2 great guitarist making beautiful music ... 💪🏽
Oh my goodness 😮 this was a wonderful lesson. Thank you both.
You are absolutely the best guitar channel in RUclips, please don't stop uploading videos especially like this, this is really inspiring me!
They have a very nice chemistry. Rotem as lead, and Paul as rhythm on a slow blues or jazz piece would sound amazing.
Two professionals sharing their skills.
Thank you guys.
I’m still a beginner and this is the level of playing I aspire to be at. Being able to jam, make great music, and just have it all come so easily. Great video, I’m going to attempt something that will sound no where near like this video 😂
😂😂😂 same here
I love the contrast between the two near the end when they start improvising since you can hear something like 2 languages merging into one
Two of my favourite You Tubers collaborating.
What’s not to like?
Inspiration, knowledge and beautiful music.
Thanks both.
Strangely sounds like Tears in Heaven and Can't Help Falling in Love. Lovely.
Ah yes, the magical bearded man who taught me neat guitar things over the years
The most beautiful way to add some intermediate knowledge of chords to majority of beginners. Beautiful!
I like the way u talk one language and understand each other.. I know nothing about that but i managed to watch till the end
That Gretsch sounds gorgeous
Sounds similar to Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven"
Ah, that song uses the same techniques indeed!
my thoughts exactly, haha
This is such a wonderfully deceptive title. Knowing and experimenting with your triads and inversions is something you have to keep practicing and applying. Thank you both for making this form of practice accessible, melodic, and fun!!!
No one can make these gorgeous chord progressions with inversions like Rotem, he has a gift!
So cool to watch you guys light up whenever a light bulb pops in your head. It's like this whenever you bounce off ideas from other players. Probably one of my favorite part of playing.
Videos like these are what give me that drive to keep playing when it feels like I'm stuck in the same old things. Thank you so much guys!
Okay but like the solos under them talking at the end are flippin insane. Casually playing the most tasteful solos while they wrap up the video
That was beautiful to see the evolution of the song from start to finish…. I could listen to that rendition of the basic chords over and over and over again!
For me, its the sheer joy on both your faces as you work through this together. Reminds me of my favorite times writing with friends.
This is exactly how arrangements are crafted from fret positions that allow bass & melodies without reaching!
But the knowledge to play all over until it fits? And name each one! Bravo. It's neck knowledge.
This is pure joy to watch.two of my favourites coming together for the collab i wasn't expecting.my day has been made sooo much better.the knowledge imparted here is staggering.thank you Paul and Rotem!
I can feel the passion and positive energy radiating from you guys through the screen💯
Meeting Paul Davids someday is on my bucket list.
I love the community vibe of these collaborations.
Sitting here in my truck watching this video. I really should get to work… but maybe I’ll just go home for the day and work on this all day. Love you videos!
Shell voicings are always so sweet and haunting
Beautiful tone and love the inversions. So interesting to see what happens when you play familiar chords in a new and different way.
Oh this is perfect!!! My wedding is coming up soon and and I wanted to surprise my wife-to-be by playing her the song I had over the stereo when I asked her out 5 years ago. I've applied the lessons from this video to what I plan to play and it sounds so much better than I had it!!! Thank you so much for this video, I've been subscribed to you for a while and Rotem Sivan is getting a new subscriber. This is perfect
This is quite helpful to know when you understand chord build-up, ... but because I'm stupid I didn't realise the 3/4 notes could be changed around from starting bass notes to make other variations. thanks!
This opens up so many possibilities!. Congrats gentlemen, excellent video and outstanding avoidance of the "I" word :)
At 35 years old I’ve just started my guitar journey & I’m hooked already, you guys sound amazing !! Would be the dream to be anywhere near as good.
You’re hearing melodies…. and I’m hearing a variation on ‘Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out’…. I like it!
Hello 👋 Rebecca. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
This video is so inspiring. Paul Davids is so amazing to watch by him self, but this shows a really good duo doing what they do best. Both makes learning fun. Amazing.
Joyful as ever Paul. Inspiring as ever, and nice to discover Rotem. You have a great formula in this piece. I agree with the previous poster, I know what you mean, but you shouldn't feel too apologetic about adding in the technical terms as you go, because you are still leaving it open to anyone the way you step through and demonstrate. Thanks for making both!
love how they end up jamming the heck out if it in the end!
Great combo with you two, so pleasing to hear your playing
That tip about how to play an easier and better-sounding inverted C major is just mind-blowingly amazing.
Oh my! Guys, please stay together forever! Thank you!
nice re-write of "tears in heaven" Eric will be flattered
Love to hear about voice leading and passing tones or chords melodies. Epic textures and that is the juice when things gel like that, Awesome !!!
Wow. You two and your tones really fill that room. THICK!
Beautiful. Something in there for everyone, a chest of ideas
Really enjoyed this video. Those chords and progression really do sound beautiful. Good job on the video.
Beautiful Gretsch, Paul.
Loving this a lot , what instantly springs to my mind is , and I do not know if this was unintentional, the lesson of the chord progression was almost, at least to me , a tutorial on how the beautiful Eric Clapton’s song : Tears in Heaven “ was formulated, it came across that strongly!
Need more of this. This was great.
Sounds so simple but gorgeous.
Next level musicianship.
