  • Add these drills into a workout. If you don't have a heavy bag you can punch a padded wall or a partner with workout mat or punching gloves.

I was needing a reminder on the extra things I can do with the heavy bag. Thank you! Sometimes at the gym all the equipment is in use by somebody, but I'm one of the few who uses the bags. I'll just use them more now that you've reminded me what else I can do.

This is a nice idea - except - in your demo: (1) each time you lift one hand in a blank position, try not to twist your torso - keep it parallel to the floor, and (2) be careful with your wrist - especially those bag hits/slaps with the palm of your hand at that angle of the wrist can get you wrist injury/pain - you may want to instead wear exercise gloves and punch the bag instead.

I get where your coming from forsure and I am definitely not a professional boxer or anything by all means. I just like to move functionally... and I only train this way once or twice a month on my own or throw it in with my crew. So not enough in repetition to cause long term injury and in 16 years of training am yet to have anyone hurt doing these. We don't hit to hard and use the edge of palm at the bone there.
I love just moving, like I would in everyday life. Or say I was in a fight or wrestling.. I like testing my body and challenging my muscles in a different way. Not always that perfect squared up robotic way because we don't move and shake like that in our daily lives.
Anyhow that's just my angle, I agree with what you say as well and totally appreciate your help here. 🤗
