The one thing I forgot to mention: the noises Yoshi makes can be SUPER annoying. Especially when you want to throw a lot of eggs in a row. Not a huge deal, but man...it's not fun to listen to. Also, you guys have no idea how much of a nightmare this video was to finish. My editor Kane and I were afflicted by a literal curse or haunting of some sort. Probably not. Woolly was kinda a bit too much "go right" and I think Arlo would find the level design inferior. It does have a good difficulty, but the item system where you pay gems for abilities makes that easier. Who knows though, just speculation on my part
I have been binging your videos recently... and I have to say I am in love with your content. The reviews are insightful, entertaining and are delightful to watch with your refreshing format. Also the puppetry - which i am convinced is not a puppet but a sentient being - is top notch. Keep it up!
It's a chunky game. I've put 10+ hours in i think (darn you switch playtime counter) and I've not even got the second gem. I've been 100%ing everything though.
Before watching, I’m going to put my review here, then compare afterwards! Category 1 - Controls Amazing! The controls are improved upon so much from past Yoshi titles. Now, instead of having to press down after eating an enemy, Yoshi immediately turns it into an egg. The aiming is astonishingly better, as you can completely control where the egg is thrown! You can even throw the eggs at thing in the foreground & background! Controls earn a 5/5! I don’t have a single complaint. Category 2 - Level Design The levels are outstanding. The themes & gimmicks are so different, that I can remember almost every single one of them. Some are better than others, but they’re all super memorable for one reason or another. My favorites are the river level with the big fish & lily pads, the circus level where you must hop through rings, & the level where you ride a train through the mountains! The levels are also filled with loads of small puzzles & challenges, which makes the design anything but flat. I will say, that some of the levels are memorable for the wrong reasons. Some that come to mind are this one level where these (unfairly) fast clown - dolls chase you, & this HORRIBLE haunted house level. I’ll give level design 4/5 Category 3 - Visuals The visuals are stunning. They combine a real world appearance & a cute/cartoony look that looks great! One of the best parts of the game is admiring the scenery of these levels, & also trying to figure out what the parts of the course are made from. I give visuals 5/5. Probably on of, if not the best looking Switch game. Category 4 - Music It’s really underwhelming. Many of the songs are remixes of the main theme, but it is just music. I’ll give it 2/5. Some of the remixes are really good, but I found myself turning down the volume most of the time. Category 5 - Replayability There is SO much to do after the main game. You can find 5 - 9 Smiley Flowers that are scattered throughout each level, find 100 coins in each level, try to find the 3 Poochie Pups on the flip side of each level in a set amount of time, find several hidden crafts in every world, get to the end of all levels w/ full health, & WAY more! 5/5. In total, the game gets 21/25!
Co-op is surprisingly fun! The devs let you mess with the other Yoshi a lot, so while both of you are moving forward to complete levels and grab collectibles, there are so many opportunities to mess up what the other Yoshi wants to do. Swallow them and fire the other way. Take their eggs. Jump on their head. The game becomes a slightly more chaotic mess as you fight the mechanics and sometimes your friend as well. It makes it more hectic and perhaps not the platforming experience the devs wanted, but it sure is fun.
I’ve never played any yoshi games, but I played crafted world demo yesterday and absolutely loved it. I think I’m addicted. Never seen a game like this in my life. The style, the music, the overall graphics.
I actually think the music was incredible, the main theme was written to be simple and catchy and I just kept wanting to listen to it, you can see that the other compositions are re arrangements of the main theme and I think that is fantastic writing, 8-bit music theory even did a video analyzing it. I think the instrumentation was well done, the heaving use of pitched percussion and tin whistle really suited it well
Wow, such horrible music taste! Did you even hear the ost of Woolly World to be saying this utter nonsense? This game clearly lacked a decent amount of soundtracks and to use the excuse of "it's so good that you want to keep hearing it" is the worst one I've ever read so far
He doesn't really explain it well and he's not entirely correct in how he interprets what's happening anyway. If you've ever played Xenoblade 2, Splatoon 2 or Super Mario Odyssey, sometimes when you rotate the camera in an intense moment, the resolution will drop deliberately. It works two fold. First, it maintains 60 fps in an intense moment and second, the lowered resolution creates the illusion of motion blur. Yoshi's Crafted World does this too at times, but in particular they use it to draw focus between the foreground, middleground and background as you aim your eggs at something. If you haven't noticed this, next time you play, stop and aim an egg at an object in the background. You'll see what appears to be a focusing effect, which is actually a change in resolution. It's kind of a cheaper, smoother way of doing this effect; using dynamic resolution. Also, the resolution has a larger-than-normal difference between docked and undocked. Still, I think it looks great and I've had no real complaints. Oh. Also. Arlo says he doesn't know what material Yoshi is made of and complained about it. He's clearly a plushie!

Finish the game before you review. You need to get past Yoshis existential crisis in prison before he undergoes mass tax evasion. Jeez people just review a game before they finish it drives me crazy.
I know I’m a year late but I just got this game for Christmas and it is very fun and you should 100% pick it up (unless you have not played Mario Odyssey then get that instead)
Interesting fact, this game was actually made in the Unreal 4 engine, which maybe makes this the first Nintendo game made on third party software. That's an interesting step for Nintendo to take, and maybe explains some of the game performance quirks.
Nintendo really have *crafted* an amazing game with new *cutting* edge technology! The *art* style really *drew* me in. It's a pretty *out of the box* idea! I'm not sorry.
I just discovered this channel; and just saw this adorable video game! I only thought the only gosh I switch game was the yarn one too!! So I’ll see if my wife wants one of these adorable games for her switch
*I approves* You edited your comment, so I now feel the need to edit my comment so it makes sense. However, some things are simply better without context.
It's unfortunate that you haven't played WW, since the main criticism that CW receives seems to be that it isn't as good as WW. Which I don't agree with, btw, mainly because the aiming controls and the checkpointing are infinitely better in CW and I also like the level design and graphics better. WW had these really big, slow-paced, maze-like levels sometimes where you had to spend ages looking for keys and if you died you had to play the last 10 minutes all over again.
You know as a first video to watch for you I kinda love your style of reviewing the game and the fact you are using a puppet to deliver your review. having never watched one of your reviews but hearing you referenced by other youtubers it was kinda refreshing to see something new I hadn't seen before. thank you for finding ways to keep reviewing games exciting. new subscriber right here.
I played the first few areas of crafted world, then remembered that I never finished wooly world, so I haven't played a lot recently... But from what I played, it's an amazing game. Tons of content, overall fun content, NSMB style multiplayer(a little worse though), and is a calm adventure that kids and older people will like(my mother played and enjoyed it a lot) If you liked wooly world, or even didn't like Yoshi games before(like i did), I would still recommend it.
I was worried about the difficulty, but since I LOVE collectibles and the style of the game I think I’ll be picking this up. The review was very informative and entertaining as always, Arlo!
ZinC Podzzz It’s probably the level “be afraid of the dark” (as mentioned in the previous reply here) where you’re being chased down by a creepy sock puppet wilding a axe down a dark alleyway, also to mention that the information boxes have pretty creepy messages for a kids game, it’s like what a little child would experience if they had a nightmare after watching a scary movie (we all been there before)
I just want to let you know that the low rezolution background objects are intentional. That's called (I think) distance blur. That's an add to the quality and makes the game heavyer in some occasions (Luigi's Mansion 3 runs waaaay better without that way of rendering). In real life that also exists, distance blur. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG PLEASE!
It's technically reffered to as depth of field but it's the same basic principle and some games do call it distance or depth blur. In regards to the reasoning it's certainly possible but it's also conjecture, you'd need to ask the devs why they did it.
About the music: The composer for Woolly World left Good Feel shortly before Crafted World to become freelance, so the soundtrack for Crafted World was kinda cobbled together. It's a shame you seem to pass over the Yoshi games with great soundtracks and play the ones with crap music...
I just want to say that I played co-op with my daughter this weekend and had a lot of fun having her be the lookout/sharp shooter when looking for the extra collectibles from the robots with her Yoshi on my Yoshi's back having me focus a little on looking for the things but mostly making sure we didn't get hit and collecting eggs for her to use. That mechanic works really well if you're playing with younger kids that might not be as good at traversing the levels.
I (and almost everyone) can agree with this. But I will say this: Crafted World has a better artstyle and better creativity/ideas than Wolly World (IMO). I can't say much on the level design though since I haven't gotten the game yet.
Well, a lot of people either A, don't have Amiibo or B, hate Amiibo. So that part doesn't matter much. And for me at least, I don't play for the music. Though I certainly prefer good music.
“Hello my egg pooping friends” 10 seconds into the video and I’m already dying Also this game was one of those games that exceeded my expectations, wasn’t surprised at first, but it ended up being a great game that felt like it was made with a lot of passion from its developers. Happy you really enjoyed it
I'm not super far into this game yet, but I am LOVING it so far! It makes me excited for the rest of the game to hear you speak of the variety of it. Doing a let's play of it and having a blast!
17:23 Complains about Kirby not having a more difficult mode Yoshi crafted world also doesn’t but it gets a pass because you can put “challenges” on yourself Even though you can do the same thing in Kirby LOGIC 💯
Wait a minute you being up a good point. Shouldn't that get a pass since you can put self challenges on yourself as well in some of the modes? Though dont know why he's being this..petty(?) About the game. At first he seemed just ok but then all of the shade from out of nowhere and getting a little tiresome at this point I gotta say from a fan back then
I'm so glad you enjoyed the game, I've been playing it also and my only gripes were the exact ones you mentioned. I would REALLY recommend that you play Yoshi's Woolly World if they ever port it to Switch or if you feel like playing in on the Wii U, they put as much love and care into it as they did Crafted World.

@@DeltathRiylaan it is a shame and I haven't played it yet, so maybe I should try it, but it really doesn't look even closer to woolly world as far as gameplay... and also the most common complaint I hear about crafted world is the music, and in woolly world it was all so amazing. That would be a tough change
I do think that Woolly world blows crafted out of the water
I often think: "Arlo is the most convincing and seamless puppet work around..."
Than I remember: "Arlo isn't a puppet"
I love how he keeps throwing shade and says “AHEM”
I believe these Yoshi are needle felted. That’s why the texture is so fine
SUCH GOOD PUN INTRO!
Woosh indeed.
DOWNT. That made me laugh so much😂
I think it's a reference to Po's fight against Tai-Lung in Kung Fu Panda, but maybe Arlo is in a DOUWN'T mood today.
@@hps362 Ohhh. I forgot about that.😅 You might be right
Not even 20 seconds in and Arlo just made me laugh.
Same
2/10 Shocking lack of tax evasion
What's the tory behind this?
@@DarkspineBowser ruclips.net/video/Oc8vrGjyqes/видео.html
Probably because it's a dead meme
Wouldn’t that make it better to you people?
This joke isn’t fun at all.
Finish the game before you review. You need to get past Yoshis existential crisis in prison before he undergoes mass tax evasion. Jeez people just review a game before they finish it drives me crazy.
I really wan a switch for this game.... I love yoshi, he is the best and cutest character
I know I’m a year late but I just got this game for Christmas and it is very fun and you should 100% pick it up (unless you have not played Mario Odyssey then get that instead)
@@34turtle how long is the game?
@@thatwaver8309 I think it is 5 hours minimum
@@34turtle damn bruh is it worth it then
@@thatwaver8309 yeah you can get some good time about 25-30 hours out of it (it’s only 5 if you do the bare minimum to complete the game)
Interesting fact, this game was actually made in the Unreal 4 engine, which maybe makes this the first Nintendo game made on third party software. That's an interesting step for Nintendo to take, and maybe explains some of the game performance quirks.
Not true Brawl was made on the havoc engine. If you don’t believe me look at the back of the box
Nintendo really have *crafted* an amazing game with new *cutting* edge technology! The *art* style really *drew* me in. It's a pretty *out of the box* idea!
I'm not sorry.
Dont be
*Raises one eyebrow*

@@johnwarosa2905 No, never.
When I bought my copy, it was definitely in the box.
I just discovered this channel; and just saw this adorable video game! I only thought the only gosh I switch game was the yarn one too!! So I’ll see if my wife wants one of these adorable games for her switch
Will you review cup head when it comes to switch?
This game is seriously so cute I love all the vibrant colours, great review x
I feel like "exploshi" should be the name of Yoshi's final smash.
I got a tax based ad on this video that is hiliraous considering this is a yoshi video 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The stars aligned
I, the almighty Biggie Cheese, approve this video.
*I approves*
You edited your comment, so I now feel the need to edit my comment so it makes sense. However, some things are simply better without context.
Oh crap nobody better do anything stupid or biggie might release his wrath on us
Me cat chumby
....who?
When you joining Smash Biggie??
It's unfortunate that you haven't played WW, since the main criticism that CW receives seems to be that it isn't as good as WW. Which I don't agree with, btw, mainly because the aiming controls and the checkpointing are infinitely better in CW and I also like the level design and graphics better. WW had these really big, slow-paced, maze-like levels sometimes where you had to spend ages looking for keys and if you died you had to play the last 10 minutes all over again.
Thanks arlo, this review did alot for me
I love you, Arlo
Woah! Arlo still makes Game Reviews!!!
Why did you think he stopped...? Also, it's spelled whoa.
Nah.
"It`S sPeLt WhOaShI!"

“DON’T” by arlo
Every time I see the arlo scale I can’t help but chuckle especially the 1 rating
"Hello my Egg Pooping friends!"
Haha.
This review is 1% review and
*99% paper puns*
"Doooon't!" I swear, the Arlo switch intros get me every time!
Reminder that this technically was the game that spawned the "Yoshi Commits Tax Fraud" meme.
how?
No, it was a CinemaSins parody video on Yoshi games that spawned the Tax Fraud meme. That's where the original joke took place.
Though it wasn't in the video itself, it was in a Tumblr post talking about the video
Woah Arlo is your throat fine? You're sure a-hem-ing a lot this video
I've got some cough medicine!
It's grape flavored!🍇
I’ve got some butternut squash flavored medicine
The "person" who controls Arlo has a different voice, so when he speaks in his Arlo voice I think it hurts a little? I'm not so sure
I see the game is on sale for Mar10 day and I was thinking of buying and I wanted to hear your review and after doing so, I think I might buy it!
Arlo you probably wont see this comment but you should do a review on the pro controller!
I was worried about the difficulty, but since I LOVE collectibles and the style of the game I think I’ll be picking this up. The review was very informative and entertaining as always, Arlo!
Maybe it's just my knitter bias showing, but I really preferred the visuals in Yoshi's Wooly World.
I like the way everything looks more in this EXCEPT Yoshi himself. I think yarn Yoshi is cuter than plush Yoshi.
From what I’ve played of Yoshi’s Crafted World “Go Go Yoshi” it was so creative.

Could someone tell me what he’s talking about? I don’t really plan on playing the game.
I think he meant the "Be Afraid of the Dark" level that subjectively turned the game into a horror game.
ZinC Podzzz It’s probably the level “be afraid of the dark” (as mentioned in the previous reply here) where you’re being chased down by a creepy sock puppet wilding a axe down a dark alleyway, also to mention that the information boxes have pretty creepy messages for a kids game, it’s like what a little child would experience if they had a nightmare after watching a scary movie (we all been there before)
I played the game and I didn’t even know what he was talking about😂
I just want to let you know that the low rezolution background objects are intentional.
0:46 play this on .25 speed
this is yoshi slowly sucked into oblivion
Yoshi is just gone!
Arlo, you are so fun and whimsical and colorful and blue. Thank you for doing what you do.
Wait... So you haven’t played Wooly World? You should definitely play it sometime!
"Shooting eggs all over the place and just seeing what happens is just a ton of fun" - Arlo 2019
About the music: The composer for Woolly World left Good Feel shortly before Crafted World to become freelance, so the soundtrack for Crafted World was kinda cobbled together. It's a shame you seem to pass over the Yoshi games with great soundtracks and play the ones with crap music...
Will he come back? I wish so we can get bops like in woolly.
Woolly World has the better OST and amiibo content.
This is fact.
I (and almost everyone) can agree with this. But I will say this:
Crafted World has a better artstyle and better creativity/ideas than Wolly World (IMO). I can't say much on the level design though since I haven't gotten the game yet.
Well, a lot of people either A, don't have Amiibo or B, hate Amiibo. So that part doesn't matter much. And for me at least, I don't play for the music. Though I certainly prefer good music.
I love that you named this "Yoshi Exploshi"!!
STAR FOX ZERO WAS GOOD THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I really think Crafted World is underrated. It's such a joy of a game.
“Hello my egg pooping friends”
10 seconds into the video and I’m already dying
Also this game was one of those games that exceeded my expectations, wasn’t surprised at first, but it ended up being a great game that felt like it was made with a lot of passion from its developers. Happy you really enjoyed it
The end of the Pikmin 3 LP and a review? This is a fine day to watch some Arlo stuff. :)
How can you complain about the Wii U and never played Wooly World?
So far Wooly World was more enjoyable to me than Crafted World
This comment is silly. You can have an opinion on a system without having played literally every game for it.
Has someone already crafted a whole Yoshi map in real life? That would be a pretty good project.
7.8/10
Too much yoshi
You can never have too much Yoshi.
I'm not super far into this game yet, but I am LOVING it so far! It makes me excited for the rest of the game to hear you speak of the variety of it. Doing a let's play of it and having a blast!
17:23 Complains about Kirby not having a more difficult mode
Yoshi crafted world also doesn’t but it gets a pass because you can put “challenges” on yourself
Even though you can do the same thing in Kirby
LOGIC 💯
Wait a minute you being up a good point. Shouldn't that get a pass since you can put self challenges on yourself as well in some of the modes?
Though dont know why he's being this..petty(?) About the game.
At first he seemed just ok but then all of the shade from out of nowhere and getting a little tiresome at this point I gotta say
from a fan back then
Ruben Giglio
Also I don’t think he can complain about difficulty when his favorite game (or one of them) is Mario odyssey ;p
He also never seemed to touch the arena ex when he revisited the game
Kyle Campbell
He should play that without abilities and then tell us it’s still to easy ;)
Assassin Charmander though playing a Kirby game without abilities kinda defeats the point
I know this video is from earlier this year, but that intro was fantastic!
0/10 No double Yoshi Exploshies
*This comment is also rated 0/10 for being unoriginal*
Great review Arlo! U r the best! And I LOVED all the references! So funny and perfectly timed!! Do that in future reviews
Complaining about music in Yoshi games? Go play Woolly World.
4:10 what is he talking about? I wont play the game dont worry
Hey Arlo great review enjoyed the whole video and say thanks to Kane for me. Greetings from the Bahamas.
