Elemental deaths in general are faster but there are not enough enemy types that take any real advantage of it and the extended whistle range makes it even less of a real problem. That's only if you are playing with random people. In Pikmin you would most likely be playing with friends (playing with random people would get kind of toxic, they might keep ruining it). Sure, there's still the small possibility of high ping, but you can always just... Not play with friends online. It's not like you need to do it. After covid, it wouldn't be nearly as necessary to be online anyway. And if you really need to, you might be able to find a way to get a better connection.
There used to be pointer control on the Wii U, which were replaced by the gyro on the switch version. You can select gyro control in the menu to use it as a pointer. Some would argue that its not working really well. I find it good enough. The downside is that you always have to recalibrate the gyro by clicking on R, and so you lose a button to change your pikmin type.
when i played the demo the multiple pikmin change buttons threw me off, with the wii remote on the original the swap button was “C” and it only went clockwise, so its.. eh i dont own 3 deluxe for obvious reasons
It's wild. I never really cared about pikmin, just played the pikmin 4 demo, now I've bought pikmin 2 on switch and I'm watching all of your pikmin content. In a couple of hours, I became a big pikmin fan and I can't wait for pikmin 4 to release.
Ever since pikmin 2 i wanted coop campaign, but challenge mode and 2 player battle were great too. My brother and I played through everything in co-op, and our general rule was we each get half the pikmin which in ultra spicy means a cap of 30 each which really limits what you can do because sending 1 thing back significantly lowers your damage output making fights much deadlier. The only complaints i have are that battle bingo is kinda boring with just 2 people and that the main story is very linear for a pikmin game. (Easiest to measure by how much of the game is left after you get blues, in pikmin 1 you still have 1 entire area and most of the level you find them plus the minor revists. In pikmin 2 you still have most of Valley of repose, the perplexing pool, and wistful wild plus small parts of awakening wood. In contrast with pikmin 3 you get them and should have about 1 days work at each area if you don't just go straight to the final boss fight.) I don't have anything against linear games in general but pikmin is basically the best console RTS ever made so its weird that in pikmin 3 you are so limited in what order you can complete the game in.
@@jasonreed7522 the RTS label just hit me the other day. I was like.... Huh, so this is like Nintendo's version of sid Meyers or something. I never looked at it like that before
@@TheScripflipNetwork i took me seeing a video analysis on why pikmin was such a weird game at the time to realize that it was fundamentally an RTS, mainly because it doesn't play anything like a traditional RTS like starcraft. (Other things it mentioned was how many playstation and xbox games were going for dark and grey stuff like resident evil, and then pikmin has brightly colored pellets with numbers on them and other goofy stuff on a photorealistic map/level.) But up until seeing that video i considered pikmin to be its own class of games, something nothing else really matched, and its only now that i understand why its in a class of its own. Its a 3rd person console RTS collectathon, and originally it was single player, then it had multiplayer side modes (2 player battle is awesome in pikmin 2), and finally it has coop main story mode. (And i can't wait for pikmin 4 and whatever it brings)
Family sent me Nintendo eShop cards for Christmas. Been really debating Age of Calamity and grabbing a bunch of indie games. Then, out of sheer curiosity, I typed in the holy word: "Pikmin." I never got a Wii U so I missed out on Pikmin 3, but no longer! Was absolutely delighted that you came up when I hopped onto the youtube for reviews/footage. Thank you so much for this vid. It has literally made my first Christmas living away from the family an absolute delight.
I'm a newcomer I discovered this game-series through the pikmin 3 let's play of Domtendo (the biggest Nintendo RUclipsr of Germany) but you sold me on the series with your massive amount enthusiasm for it, I got myself pikmin 3 deluxe as quickly as possible and I've been playing it for the entire time I had it and I've already played through all three difficulties with massive success and I have already finished the side stories with all platinum medals. My favorite pikmin are the yellow pikmin, with their adorable huge ears and their massive amount of uses
I'm SO glad you've had a delightful time with this game! I'm not a huge Pikmin fan myself, so my hope for this game's success existed solely for people like you. Have a blast as you continue playing it until the glory that is to be Pikmin 4 comes out :)
I got the Pikmin 3 Deluxe demo because Arlo is so passionate about the series, and I could not stop playing it. I played through that demo 3 times because I wanted to be playing Pikmin and it was all I had. My brother played it and loved it too, so we bought it. We skip a lot of games because we don't have the funds for them, but this was a must have. Now I've replayed the entire game like 6 times, by myself and with my brother in co-op, and we've poured hours into getting as good of scores on the time challenges as we felt we were capable of. They were fun, but they were bite-sized Pikmin content we could play over and over. I love this game so much now, it's hard to believe I didn't care about Pikmin at all until Deluxe. Pink Pikmin are the cutest by the way.
Arlo, thank you from the bottom of my heart for convincing me to try this game out. Without you I probably wouldn't have given Pikmin much attention - and boy, how much charm and personality I would've missed. Sure, Pikmin 3 Deluxe isn't perfect, but it still only took me two in-game days to know I loved it to bits, and two real days to start blabbering about it to anybody who would listen. Now I'm hoping it performs well enough to convince Nintendo to give us 1&2 remastered or - dare I say it - the fabled Pikmin 4. Please Nintendo, I need my babies. They're adorable and bring so much joy and _the yellow ones are cutest_
Nothing beats pikmin 2 on the Wii tho. And pikmin 2 doesn’t have a time limit in the story mode like pikmin 3 does. You can’t even enjoy the atmosphere in pikmin 3
pikmin was my childhood, man. i grew up playing pikmin 2 in my basement with my siblings sitting next to me. i have it hard wired into my brain that if you hear the footsteps of the gatling groink, you should run to the other side of the map. i always loved this series, and i always will, mostly for its game mechanics and the pikmin themselves. whats not to love? its really nice to know someone who loves this game as much as I do. And winged pikmin are the cutest.
Do I enjoy playing pikmin games? no, not my style. Do I watch every single video Arlo puts out about it? Absolutely. Hearing Arlo happy makes me happy.
The lack of an update in resolution probably comes from the co-op mode. The game has to render everything twice in co-op mode, so it couldn't handle higher visuals.
All games are different. Also, if you’re implying rendering twice doesn’t make a performance impact, I’m afraid you’re just wrong, no matter what other games have done. For the record though, even Mario Kart 8 cuts down framerate to 30 in 4 player.
@@ActionJaxonH I understand. I just wanted to say that if they can render basically two scenes in 30fps they might be able to render one in 60fps, just as in Mario Kart. We'd never know, anyways.
the game was already 30fps 720p, and i bet the switch could probably handle 1080p in single player, maybe even 60fps if they made a more expensive switch thats like 30% stronger
Hey Alro! Just started Pikmin 3 Deluxe this week! It’s really cute! I’m not sure I’ve got the fever, but I’m really glad I’m finally giving the series a shot, and I probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for you! So thank you!
Arlo got me into pikmin after having never played one of the games before. 3dx has been my first pikmin game, and I've gotta say... I really can't wait for 4.
I've played and loved Pikmin 1 and 2, but never got 3 due to not owning a Wii U. So glad the Switch version seems to have a whole lot going for it, and I couldn't be happier that Co-Op was brought back. Great video as always, Arlo!
I hope they bring back the Bulbmin in Pikmin 4. Ultra-spicy mode's limitations only make one specific day more interesting... The day that you start with no juice about halfway through. It's still pretty easy to get enough juice back though... I think I had about 20 days of juice left when I beat the game in this mode.
If you know that day is comming you can just not collect the fruit from the first boss. Collect the corpse and bring the fruit back to base but don't actually collect it. Sadly the boss corpse despawns after 2 days (so you can get it the next day only), this means you can't give it to the blues like i wanted to. The most impactful difficulty change is the reduced max field count, specifically when playing co-op because you then split the cap for a personal limit of 30, and that makes it harder to push separately as if you send something back you may only have 20 pikmin to fight with, and thats a recipe for losing more pikmin since its harder to rush down enemies and minibosses.
I'm so glad that I watched this video. I just got to your comment about how you can complete the levels even if you go beyond the time limit. Time limits in video games give me anxiety and it's prevented me from picking these games up because I know they work on a time limit system. Knowing that I can essentially ignore the time limit until I get better at each level has convinced me to pick this game up.
You know what this game could have used? A single player bingo battle. Something to give you randomized challenges that doesn't rely on local co-op. Or maybe a New Game+ that lets you choose from a bunch of OPTIONAL rules. Eg.: Once cleared, [White/Purple/Both] Onion can be found in the Phosbat boss cave. Days are [x] minutes. Juice is cut by [fraction]. Enemies have [%] more health. Field limit is [x] Pikmin. Onions only carry [x] of each type. Winged Pikmin have 0.5 carry strength. Rock Pikmin can be pierced [y/n] or crushed [y/n]. Electricity is fatal. Pikmin burn/drown/suffocate faster. Key Items are twice as heavy. More difficult enemy layout. Spray deflowers Pikmin after it ends.
Arlo talking about the wii's problem about how you got to perfectly point the wii remote at the screen, and make sure the battery doesn't run out, is the most true thing I've ever heard, and I've seen more than most of his videos.
Something else worth noting is only partially tilting the control stick will move the cursor without moving the captain. The cursor can also extend past the range you normally can aim with while holding the control stick fully in a direction. Probably why the captains don't just nudge one way or another when only slightly holding the control stick
I think pikmin starring at you and making a sound as they pass by you when they are working...... is so freakin adorable And also when you send pikmin to do something and the few that don't get to do the work, and they look so disappointed .... just wanna hug 'em
hey arlo! Thanks to you, i got Pikmin 3 and i am loooooving it (well the demo really). I don't get the game til christmas but ive been playing and playing and PLAYING the demo over and over again! Thanks for making me addicted to another nintendo franchise.
I feel like Normal is easy, Hard is Normal mode Ultra-Spicy is hard, and we needed an even Spicer dificulty. I'm still new to Pikmin 3 I think it's by far the best one in the series.
Used to play the first Pikmin for the Gamecube back in the day, but this was my first Pikmin game I've picked up since then and I have to say it's so good! My only complaint is that I feel like I finished the main story mode pretty quickly even on my first try, only took a few hours. Although considering the amount of other content like side stories and mission mode there's still plenty of game left to be played after finishing the main story. Love the game so far!
Flying Pikmin are the cutest Pikmin IMO. Rocks come close, but the little glasses on the Flying ones with that adorable high pitched voice push them over the edge for me!
I'll definitely be buying this just for the revisit. I remember loving how they did the overworld but missed the spelunking caves and really didn't care for the direction they took combat in 3. Pikmin 2 will always be my favorite. Enemies felt very dangerous, taking huge advantage of small mistakes. Love your vids man. Also that Colossal Cavern mod for 2 looks so cool and challenging. XD
You see, most people would see this challenge, and attack Pikmin, talk about how it's not that good. But we know Pikmin is wonderful, so that's a losing gamble. Instead, hear me out... Donkey Kong. You see, unlike his spin-off series, Mario, there is not a lazy main game in the DK series. The original trilogy is a series of Arcade classics, and holds the only instance of evil Mario. The Country series holds many of the best classic platformers and have some of the best presentation on the Super Nintendo. Jungle Beat is an amazing, often forgotten experience that is impossible to find elsewhere. And then the reborn series of DKC holds the best platformers of prehaps all time. DK is not only an icon, but he's been there since the beginning and only produces quality. All hail the King of the Jungle Beat.

Mario Maker 2 online could be a lot better if Nintendo took the steps to improve it.

Huh I didn’t realise there were pointer controls in this game
Wii u man....

It's wild. I never really cared about pikmin, just played the pikmin 4 demo, now I've bought pikmin 2 on switch and I'm watching all of your pikmin content. In a couple of hours, I became a big pikmin fan and I can't wait for pikmin 4 to release.
Dude, co-op is great on this. Me and my wife have played almost everything in here together. It's too much fun.
(Other things it mentioned was how many playstation and xbox games were going for dark and grey stuff like resident evil, and then pikmin has brightly colored pellets with numbers on them and other goofy stuff on a photorealistic map/level.)
But up until seeing that video i considered pikmin to be its own class of games, something nothing else really matched, and its only now that i understand why its in a class of its own. Its a 3rd person console RTS collectathon, and originally it was single player, then it had multiplayer side modes (2 player battle is awesome in pikmin 2), and finally it has coop main story mode. (And i can't wait for pikmin 4 and whatever it brings)
@@jasonreed7522 definitely looking forward to pickmin 4. We ended up replaying 3 about 3/4 months ago and it's absolutely a must play

It has literally made my first Christmas living away from the family an absolute delight.

...Yes?
I'm a newcomer I discovered this game-series through the pikmin 3 let's play of Domtendo (the biggest Nintendo RUclipsr of Germany) but you sold me on the series with your massive amount enthusiasm for it, I got myself pikmin 3 deluxe as quickly as possible and I've been playing it for the entire time I had it and I've already played through all three difficulties with massive success and I have already finished the side stories with all platinum medals.
My favorite pikmin are the yellow pikmin, with their adorable huge ears and their massive amount of uses
Arlo: you can't truly dismiss.
Me: have you tried dismissing with the captains?
but at that point you would have to switch to a captain and dismiss, which is a hassle that didnt need to be added
@@chickennugget6684 I agree I don’t think dismissing the captains every time is a sure fire solution
I'm SO glad you've had a delightful time with this game! I'm not a huge Pikmin fan myself, so my hope for this game's success existed solely for people like you. Have a blast as you continue playing it until the glory that is to be Pikmin 4 comes out :)
All these Pikmin videos make me want to replay 3 as well. I remember just falling in love with this series.

It’s enough to make a grown man cry.......... and that’s ok
Pikmin 3 deluxe is the best selling Pikmin game. So we might get the coveted Pikmin 4.
Nothing beats pikmin 2 on the Wii tho. And pikmin 2 doesn’t have a time limit in the story mode like pikmin 3 does. You can’t even enjoy the atmosphere in pikmin 3
I played the demo for Pikmin 3 Deluxe and after finishing it and figuring out all of the concepts, I understood your love for the series.
As someone who feels like, almost identically the same way about Pikmin 3DX as Arlo, this video was a delight to watch.
pikmin was my childhood, man. i grew up playing pikmin 2 in my basement with my siblings sitting next to me. i have it hard wired into my brain that if you hear the footsteps of the gatling groink, you should run to the other side of the map. i always loved this series, and i always will, mostly for its game mechanics and the pikmin themselves. whats not to love? its really nice to know someone who loves this game as much as I do.
And winged pikmin are the cutest.
I’ve never played Pikmin series. This may be a good entry point!
I only played the demo of the 2d pikmim that is obviously just a mod for Nintendo
Funny you mention that, if my memory serves me correctly Pikmin 3 was intentionally designed to appeal to new fans
@@johnclark926 That’s a good news!
Do I enjoy playing pikmin games? no, not my style. Do I watch every single video Arlo puts out about it? Absolutely. Hearing Arlo happy makes me happy.
The lack of an update in resolution probably comes from the co-op mode. The game has to render everything twice in co-op mode, so it couldn't handle higher visuals.
but many other nintendo games handle it with separate resolution / fps modes for single player and split screen

Ah, this is the video I was awaiting eagerly from you. You’re my go-to pikmin opinion guy. I can now safely say I’ll be getting it!
I enjoyed the dungeons in Pikmin 2 and it remains as my favorite Pikmin game to this day, while 3 is amazing it was just too short for me.
You know what this game could have used? A single player bingo battle. Something to give you randomized challenges that doesn't rely on local co-op. Or maybe a New Game+ that lets you choose from a bunch of OPTIONAL rules.
Eg.:
Once cleared, [White/Purple/Both] Onion can be found in the Phosbat boss cave.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO, FINALLY!
As a new pikmin player, I finally understand Arlo's love for pikmin :D It just feels so nice to play it
Pikmin is the one franchise that isn’t allowed to be ruined by nintendo
We ignoring Hey! Pikmin?
Arlo talking about the wii's problem about how you got to perfectly point the wii remote at the screen, and make sure the battery doesn't run out, is the most true thing I've ever heard, and I've seen more than most of his videos.
19:15 rock pikmin are literally just yoshi.
Something else worth noting is only partially tilting the control stick will move the cursor without moving the captain. The cursor can also extend past the range you normally can aim with while holding the control stick fully in a direction. Probably why the captains don't just nudge one way or another when only slightly holding the control stick

XD
Pikmin is the best game series, Change my mind I DARE YOU
You see, most people would see this challenge, and attack Pikmin, talk about how it's not that good.
