- Brasov Romania is one of Romania's most popular cities, and the best place to stay in Romania to be in the heart of Transylvania lore. It also happens to have a few fabulous restaurants serving up traditional Romanian food. Stay tuned as we try pig testicles, and chow down on tripe soup (cow stomach soup), as well as gorge ourselves on one of the best desserts in the world-papanasi.
Would you eat it?

Tripe soup - excellent choice,to me tripe soup and sarmale(cabbage rolls) is HEAVEN!!!
Agreed on the sarmale. I can eat a truck load if those things.
congrats for your bravery :) Tripe soup... i love it my girlfriend hates it :).
Not my fave thing in the world, but its edible!
Brașov, the most beautiful city of Romania !!! ♥️💛💙
It is very beautiful!
Regarding the Black Church , you might have have noticed many rugs hanging .These rugs were gifts from the merchants trading goods in Turkiye during the 15th - 16th Century . Anytime returning to Brasov the merchants were donating the Church these rugs , partly avoiding paying taxes or for religion reasons .Nowadays these rugs worth a fortune and Turkiye was willing to buy them back and have them exposed in the Istanbul Museum of History .The Municipality of Brasov , politely has declined this request...
Wow very interesting! Thx!
Love from romania!
Right back at you! 💜
Great video ! We enjoyed the local food tasting although not sure how we would do very well with it. Great video 😊
Thank you so much! Organs are always hard to "stomach" 😁, but that dessert makes up for it!!
@@lostamonglocals5382 you don t have to eat organs if you don t like it..try a cold platter..or a hot one in a Romanian traditional restaurant. We eat organs very seldom..i would guess liver is the most popular beef or chicken..and you should know it is great source of iron for your body. Tripe soup is something rarely made at home on some occasions, mostly eaten out. These fancy organ dishes are not an everday dish for anybody here.
Also we have a lot of vegetarian dishes and fish dishes mostly to local areas with lakes and rivers...again we prefer the Romanian fish to the the one from import which is full of crap and metals.
We always try crazy foods food tours, but yes, we had many lovely chicken and veal dishes, as well as some wonderful salads. All around, we had no trouble filling our stomachs with yummy Romanian treats. ...especially papanasi
Too much talking
Glad u liked it. Subscribed
Love trying new foods but organs always make me a little nervous 🥴 enjoyed you guys taking us through the region & the local cuisines!
Me too (Abby). I'm down to try but I rarely enjoy it.
I can do only chiken liver. It is strange but I like it alot!
Believe it or not, we have never tried chicken liver!
hi from romania nice video
Thanks so much!!
Bravo! feĺicitarii! (Un vampir din Brasov Transilvaania)
I think the soup is what is called in romania( I'm from there) is called ' ciorba de burta' which translates to stomach soup
Yes, that looks right. Sounds much more beautiful than the English Tripe soup too
Trype soup not stomach.
Brasov ...❤ Super 👍👍👍👍💯
Thank you!
What month did you go?
I believe we were there in June
mm Ciorba de burta! yammy! Brasov is sooo beautiful, and like the rest of Romania, the people are sooo amazing!
Totally agree!
It’s better if you could mention the prices of foods you got ❤
21:54 🤣
😁😁
Bravo! FELICITARI!(U. ÙÑ VÀMPIŔ ĎÌÑ BRAVOV!( TRANSILVAANIA)
Thank you!!
bruh I am romanian and not even I ever tried pig testicles XD ahaha you are very adventurous and brave
🤣🤣Thank you very much. They actually were pretty good, but I'm so glad they came out sliced up. That would have been much harder if they came out looking like balls.
so bold of you to try pork testes, clap clap!
🤣🤣thanks. They were pretty tasty though, and it helped that they were sliced up like pepperoni!
Do you think it would still be hard to be vegan there? I remember mainly eating chips 8 years ago 😂
Hmm, that's a good question. There are a few vegan cafes in Brasov, and I feel like I saw one or two in Sibiu, but I can't say it's something I pay too much attention to.I would imagine it would be much easier than 8 years ago, but still a stretch in certain areas.
I know it's a late reply, but I would say you ate chips because you didn't know how to ask :P Just ask for "de post" - it means for fasting. Romania is mostly Eastern Orthodox, and the Eastern Orthodox fasts are long and vegan. So there have been some vegan options developed throughout the years, and some of them, mostly spreads, are very popular and rather easily found in restaurants - like eggplant salad, zacusca or smashed beans. There is also ciorba de legume ( sour vegetables soup) and peas stew (I think it sometimes has meat, but usually it doesn't, I would say it's safer to ask). You can also ask for sarmale de post - they are sarmale without meat, sometimes they replace the meat with mushrooms or it's just the rice and other veggies, you can mostly find those in supermarkets (not all have them, but some do). Those are just some of the more popular and easy to find things that come to mind now. In any case, if you ask for "mancare de post" (fasting food), people might be able to recommend more options :)
Good advice. Thanks so much
next time show the FOOOD
Regarding eating strage parts of an animal. I remember when i was a kid we raised pigs.. From 1 entire animal nothing was wasted..I think it has to do a lot with the connection you make with an animal as a farmer...You raise it and if you slaughter it there is some kind of respect in the background of not wasting anything...Some dishes are good some are so so...the important thing is not to waste anything....
Totally agree!
Why do Romanians love so much pork... For many centuries Romania was under Ottoman rules. And even when it was not ...Romania had to pay tribute , grains , animals , gold etc. But Ottomans were muslims. And muslims don't eat pork. So...the pig was the only animal refused by Ottomans. In Romania we have a saying : The best vegetable its the pork
Haha. I love that saying! That is an interesting point.
@@lostamonglocals5382why would it be strange ? Romania was never a Muslim country and Islam was always banned even when the regions were vassals to the ottomans, it was never ruled by Muslims or Islam.
@dacian_1346 it isn't strange. I'm not sure why we wrote that. It actually makes perfect sense...probably just replied to a comment in haste.
Yes! Graffiti is one of Abbys major frustrations. We address it in a lot of our videos as it often ruins the beauty of historic districts and natural environments too!
I went to a store in Los Angeles International for Romanian food and products and everything is very expensive
I love Romanian food something to appreciate but sad that here in America Romanian food is expensive
Yes and hard to find!
@@lostamonglocals5382 😢YES
I bought Romanian products in Los Angeles and they are very expensive, it doesn't seem ok to me and again in Romania the food is cheap but in America the Romanian products are very expensive
it doesn't seem right to me in America Romanian food is very expensive and in Romania it is very cheap it seems very strange
We find that to be true in most places. The local dishes are considered normal and made for the masses, so they are cheaper. Food from other countries is a delicacy and usually costs more. There are exceptions, but we find it to be pretty common.
@@lostamonglocals5382 ok
this is very sad
