When you unpair an Apple Watch does it factory reset?

Hello I was about to reset the apple watch but it restart again on where it came from. Like, it can’t be finished
My watch has assumed the properties of a brick, only less useful. Unable to reset, unable to unpair, unable to do a power off. At least I still have a wind up clockwork watch.

I have a very specific problem, I changed my Apple ID email and I didn’t do that on my Apple Watch, so it’s still on my old email and my watch apple doesn’t have the watch in the app. So what could I do?

I have tried to reset my Apple Watch from the watch itself. For context my watch is paired to my but my phone doesn’t recognize the watch anymore. When I reset from my phone and confirm to erase all it just goes back to the reset screen and nothing else happens. Is there something I’m missing?

Yesterday I got a new iPhone, and after transferring all data over to it from the old iPhone, I gave my old iPhone to my son who wiped it and reset it. Today I tried to pair my Apple Watch to my new phone, but it isn’t working. I watched this video and it looks like my only option is to reset the watch, which does not create a backup of the Apple Watch data. I looked up how to manually create a backup of my Apple Watch but it appears to require being paired to an iPhone. The issue is I ran a marathon today and don’t want to lose the Strava data on my Apple watch before I have a chance to sync. Are there any options for me to backup or otherwise save this data?

Without having unpaired the watch from your original phone, which then creates a backup of its contents, your new phone won't have access to the watch's data. If you have a backup of your original phone from before you had it erased, you might restore that to your new phone and try to restore any backup of the watch that this iPhone backup would have. This won't retrieve all of your current data, but it might help you get back data from the watch.
The drawback to this is if you have the new phone set up and there was no backup restored to it, what is on the phone right now would be lost, as you will need to erase the phone's data in order to restore a backup to it.
