    A few days ago I was in a car crash that nearly killed me, but I survived with minor bruises and stuff. Will spend a month at home recovering.
    I own an Apple Watch SE and iPhone 14 pro max. Both detected an accident. Watch started calling emergency services while I was out and people were dragging me out of my wrecked car. I didn’t respond to the call, just heard someone speaking on my wrist. Then they recalled and I answered on my phone confirming that I needed help.
    My iPhone has sent emergency messages to my contacts and they arrived at the place.
    Thank you Apple❤

      We can explain how Crash Detection works if you are not able to communicate.
      When a severe crash is detected, an alarm sounds and an alert is displayed.
      You can choose to call emergency services or dismiss the alert.
      If you do not respond to the alert, emergency services are automatically called.
      If you’ve added emergency contacts, a message to share your location is also sent to let them know you have been in a severe car crash.

    I’m just curious why it isn’t available on at least the iPhone 13 given how it’s essentially identical to the iPhone 14…?

    • @SquibToast
      @SquibToast 2 года назад +27

      The fact it even required the new apple watches implies it needed a specific hardware update to do this. The iPhone 13 and 14 look the same but there are differences, everyone just pays attention to the camera

      The new devices include new gyroscopes and accelerometers. The ones in the older models don’t have the range of force measurement to accurately detect a car crash.

    • @colin9139
      @colin9139 2 года назад +6

      They changed the sensors and gyroscope to measure certain amounts of force and trained it of when it may be a severe crash

      We can provide some insight on using Crash Detection. This feature cannot detect all car crashes. Crash Detection is designed to detect severe car crashes-such as front-impact, side-impact, and rear-end collisions, and rollovers-involving sedans, minivans, SUVs, pickup trucks, and other passenger cars.
      You can read more about this feature and how it works in the link here: s.apple.com/DH2W7d7vN3

    This is such a great feature an another reason why I will only buy Apple products. I got into a head on crash and my car was hit so bad it made the car battery disconnect so the only automatic 911 call was from my iPhone an watch.. Luckily I wasn't seriously injured and Apple made sure emergency services was called. Between Kia making great safe cars and iPhone automatic crash detection I am VERY thankful to be alive.

      We’d be happy to guide you on activation of your new iPhone. Airtel is a supported eSIM carrier in India as shown here: s.apple.com/dE4c7T3R9Y
      Depending on the error or screen hat shows on your iPhone, you can perform a number of steps to complete activation. To get started, work through the guidance in the following link by starting with a simple restart: s.apple.com/dE3h2T0M4t

    can crash detection call 112 instead of 911

    • @applesupport
      @applesupport  2 года назад

      We’d be happy to clear things up. Emergency service calls in some countries or regions might require a manual input, such as “Press 1 for….“
      Crash Detection cannot automatically select the menu option to complete emergency service notification, but your emergency contacts are still notified.
