In Finland we have little kids go door to door on Palm Sunday dressed up as little witches. They say an Easter poem and wave these willow twigs decorated with colourful feathers and silk paper. They give you a twig and you give them chocolate eggs or coins in return. The poem is about wishing health and blessings to the house. In some parts of Finland there are Easter bonfires that are supposed to scare bad spirits away. We also grow this grass on tiny flower pots and decorate it with little bunnies and chicks or sometimes tiny eggs. These pots are on on tables on Easter. Then we have Mämmi, a rye pudding that you have with cream and sugar. It's very traditional. There's also pasha, a quark and fruit dessert that is not as popular as mämmi. Chocolate eggs are very popular but we don't really have an Easter Bunny that gives them or presents.
*IN tiny flower pots. Sorry.
Wow that’s wonderful. I never knew about these traditions.

Unfortunately Easter for British people nowdays is only few days off and overeating of chocolate that BTW has nothing to do with Easter.... Once you have a chance to see how beautifully Easter is celebrate in other countries, how they keep their traditions, how much fun they have /Greece , Italy Czech, Poland,... / , you can understand how much we have lost and how much our kids are missing out.
Great video! It is very practical for me to school. Thank you ❤️ (I am from Czechia)
Cool Video !
The earliest reference to an egg toting Easter Bunny can be found in a late 16th-century German text 1572. “Do not worry if the Easter Bunny escapes you; should we miss his eggs, we will cook the nest,” the text reads. A century later, a German text once again mentions the Easter Bunny, describing it as an “old fable”, and suggesting that the story had been around for a while before the book was written. In the 18th century, German immigrants took the custom of the Easter Bunny with them to the United States and, by the end of the 19th century, sweet shops in the eastern states were selling rabbit-shaped candies, prototypes of the chocolate bunnies we have today.
A beautiful day day in England with the sun shinning. For some reason I thought that was funny, considering I live in the pacific northwestern United States and it is wet and cloudy. I enjoy watching your videos just to see the differences between U.S English and U.K English. You get a four day weekend? I wish we got that much time off of work here.
Love your videos so far! :-) S2

Thanks for the video. Is it Okay to give chocolates before the easter holiday? like a week before.. or should it be given right on Easter?
Of course you can give chocolates early :)
Hi! We celebrate Easter in the religious aspect. It's a pity we do not use that European tradition of the Bunny Eggs, (it would be fun for kids)We are Catholic and this is a very important celebration for us. Very interesting and useful your explanations. I really enjoy and learn a lot from your classes. I love them and I like your pronunciation. (Please, if I make any mistake writing, could you please be so kind to let me know?) Thank you. And HAPPY EASTER!!

Chocolate, chocolate and chocolate also in Italy, but we have also a traditional cake we call "Colomba" (Dove Bread for Easter) which vaguely has the shape of a dove.
In Ukraine we also like to bake bread in the shape of birds to celebrate spring coming, it's an old tradition, but...not now..now we have "tradition" to donate for our Army and refugies instead of rich celebrating. We thank everybody who helps all around the world

I really enjoyed your lesson, fantastic job! To be honest I did not understand a lot of words or collocations. This means I will have to replay this several times and make notes in my exercise book.
Than that is great because it means you will learn a lot from this video :) There are also subtitles that may help.
Many thanks for your reply. I know about subtitles. However, I always try to listen without them thanks to your clear pronunciation. Subtitles are useful for me only in the case of an unknown word.
By the way, I caught the word "resurrection". It reminded the song "The resurrection shuffle" performed by Les Humpries Singers maybe in the 70'. They released vinyl record full of shortened cover versions of various songs and this was one of them. The first song was "Jesus Christ".
I long to find these songs for ages but in vain.

HAPPY EASTER ENGLAND!!! ..FROM THE USA HERE WE LOVE YA!!!..GOD BLESS THE USA AND GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!
Hi Anna! Happy easter🎇 and u r looking so beautiful 👼. 🐇🐰🐔🐓
I think rabbits became a symbol of Easter because they're a fairly universal symbol of fertility which ties into the celebration of life. Just like chicks & eggs, just in a slightly different way but the meaning is the same. Rabbits can also be seen as something pure and innocent which also fits into the coming of new life and tend to be linked or compared to children: pure, innocent life. That's what I think anyway.
80% of viewers are either czech or polish ppl forced to watch this by their teachers lmao
