Your teaching method is SO relatable! This video understandable to this 60 year old grandma that has sewn some, to my 12 year old granddaughter that hasn’t; without needing a translation. Good on you!
I just found your channel, and I am so so glad I did! Your teaching method is so clear and your demeanor is so friendly and enjoyable to learn from! Thank you for being amazing!
Thank you so much - I could follow every single thing you said. It was clear and concise without being too fussy. But you still included really useful stuff, like when you said you “had a feeling that the back centre seam has stretched through wear” and you decided not to adjust the paper pattern. It all seems so obvious now after watching the video, but it would not have occurred to me if I hadn’t watched this. I also wouldn’t have thought about marking centre points along the legs and the knee, crotch and other points. I can see clearly now why these are crucial. You’re an absolute angel ❤ So I wish I’d seen this video 50 years ago, when I started making my own clothes - it would have saved me a lot of unpicking and constant trying on till got the right pattern for my own body! 😂😂😂 Love your hard work and dedication to your viewers. It’s so valuable. Bless you. ❤
WOW! I'm impressed with your garment drafting skills. All of it makes a lot of sense. Your toile came out great! Going to save this video for future use. ❣
Yay!!! How timely for me. This is a spectacularly helpful video. As are other of your drafting videos. I so very much appreciate all your videos as I find them filled with the most wonderful creativeness for the home sewer who wants to improve.
Your videos are really amazing. Your drafting is excellent and completely logical and understandable- thank you. Can’t wait to see the finished results.
This was so helpful!! Thank you! I have a favorite pair of jeans. I love everything about them. I've been wanting to make a couple of pairs in linen so I can have the perfect pants for summer wear, but my jeans have a total of four darts in the back and I couldn't figure out how to replicate the darts in my linen versions. Now I know! Thank you again!
Hmmmm i guess i’m gonna try this technique on some of my pants for sure! Thanks soooo much for such a detailed tutorial! I’ve copied my t-shirts in the past, but that was quite easy. The pants are a totally different story.
Thank you so much! I have a problem finding pants that I like and now I have one that is almost perfect in any way and is starting to break so I was really sad about it, I hope I can use what I've learned here to try and copy it because it's really my favorite so far in my life
This is the video i needed. I recently decided to try and copy a pair of my dads old fatigue pants. A little trickier than your pants, but you have given me invaluable quide lines. Adustable waist, fell seams, mulitple pockets, and drawstring hems. Thank you.
This video saved me! I was nearly finished copying my son’s dress trousers, when I simply could not figure out why I ended up with a way too short back crotch…. Your drafting of the back pant solved my mistake: I’d presumed the back waist line would be horizontal, not raised at an angle ( allowing g for the extra room in the seat!) Thank you!
I would never have thought of drawing on the original pants. I am planning to make pants today so this was perfect timing for me! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly!
I like the idea of using reference points, rather than just tracing the pants. Seems more accurate. I’d love for you to try the Top Down, Center Out method of pants fitting. It’s a game changer on fitting pants. They come out perfect without nearly as much fussing.
Have a pairn of jeans that fit well in waist & seat but the legs are too tight! Now I'll try your method & see how it goes. Your method is much than trashing a good pair of jeans!👍🤞
Its new to me too, and I love it. I cannot find patterns for my favourite store bought items. And this method allows me to keep my favourite items a bit longer in my cupboard👍🏼💙
It does not matter what you use as long as you measure correctly :) inches vs centimeters won't affect the fact that you are dividing something in half, or by 4 or by 6. I use both, inches and centimeters, depending what is the most convenient option in the moment.
Hello. i am an avid watcher of you videos and i watch them over and over. please have you a pattern for a loos tunic top. i haunt gotten around to making a bodice block yet and not shore how i would adapt it for a tunic Thank you. x
Hello Hazel, thank you for watching :) here's a full playlist of all sorts of loose garments/tops/dresses, you can adapt any of those into a tunic :) - ruclips.net/video/uzlWsvJLO-g/видео.html
Yes it would be, but my focus was to show how I would do that if was still wearing them, the same way I did it with other copied garments on my channel.
Very informative but I am wondering; to eliminate concern for the curvature of the crotch lines, could you not just turn the pants inside out, put one leg of the garment within the other (noting the seams lines/front and back) then just trace? Just a thought.
Ah, the science and mechanics of the process, thank You! Not just the best tutorial, the ONLY thorough tutorial I have ever seen! God bless you 💖✝

You deserve an honorary engineering degree for all the problem solving that you do! I am amazed and very grateful.
Perfectly done. Thank You so much!

I can remember using my clothes for a pattern when I was teaching myself to sew when I was eleven.

Excellent explanation/demonstration of how to copy a pair of ready made pants! Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
I’m a complete beginner, & you explained that so well.
I actually really like the patterned ones 😍 ❤️
Thank you Alisa, you are a great teacher explaining your thoughts as you go along, is so helpful. Bless you

Awesome video! Can't wait to try. Thank you :)
This is all so impressive to me! Do people ever undo all the seams of a beloved clothing item and use those as a pattern?
Its new to me too, and I love it. I cannot find patterns for my favourite store bought items. And this method allows me to keep my favourite items a bit longer in my cupboard👍🏼💙
They do, once they’ve decided it’s no longer wearable. I’ve done that before.
Very informative video.

very well explained :)
ooooooh nice as can be
Pam, you're always so cheerful and positive!, love it!

Thank you x. i'm going over to check them out. i would love to be inside your head. you are fab at what you do. a 1000 Thanks'. x
If you are not going to wear them any more, wouldn't it be easier to disassemble the garment and copy it
Yes it would be, but my focus was to show how I would do that if was still wearing them, the same way I did it with other copied garments on my channel.
Do you have a video of you sewing everything together?
14:00 is the part I need
What kind of copy papers that you’re using?
It is a medical tracing paper - The link is in the description :)

Try it and see if you like that better :) there are many ways how to go about it :)
Jeans would be the same way correct how would you do the yolk of the jeans
Alisa did you receive my email
Sure did, I replied to you on IG :)
