  • The Samaritan Woman in John 4 is a well known story in the Gospels between Jesus and a woman of Samaria, who was divorced multiple times and most likely a pariah, shunned by people of her community.
In Jesus' discussion with the Samaritan woman, Jesus presses her on what keeps her from God: namely her sin. Though, the Samaritan woman tries to shift the conversation from her moral life to a theological debate.
Watch this video with Dr. Pitre to discover some of the underlying messages between Jesus and the Samaritan woman.

This is one of the Bible story I like.
Because, here Jesus taught how to communicate.
Jesus is a man, a Jew, but he wants to start a conversation with a Samaritan woman.
Jesus started with a basic level of conversation, a lips service, he only asking for water.
The woman answered unfriendly, but Jesus wasn't provoked by emotions.
He still mastered the conversation. He tries to keep the woman interested in talking, not decide to stop communication.
Finally the woman was interested and there was a discussion, a higher level of conversation.... Give me that water Sir ....
This opportunity was used by Jesus to go deeper, to the highest level of communication, talk from heart to heart.... Go, call your husband, come here ... I have no husband Sir .....
Jesus won this conversation, he succeeded in making this woman change her mind, attitude and behaviour.
The goal of communication is making someone changes his/her mind, attitude and behaviour.

EIGHTH COMMANDMENT OF SATAN: SUBJECT CHRISTIANS TO THE WORSHIP OF IMAGES AND IDOLS.
The eighth commandment says Subject Christians to the worship of images and idols. You will see some Christians who have images of a false Jesus with a red heart and images of Mary in their houses. The Bible says that cursed be on the man who suppresses the truth. I know the truth about Catholicism and if I do not tell it to you, I shall be cursed. I will talk about the holy magic in details because I have been initiated into that magic by a Spanish Catholic priest. I know that talking about Catholicism is provoking a war because Catholicism is a whole government. Many Satanists hide in the Catholic church and they will try to fight me. I am not afraid! I know one thing, as long as the mission that Jesus gave me is not complete, I will not die no matter what is done against me! I know it and I have faith. The Bible says: If God is for me, who can be against me? They will fight against me but will never overcome me, never.
NINTH COMMANDMENT OF SATAN: SUBJECT CHRISTIANS OR ALL HUMANKIND TO THE WORSHIP OF THE SAINTS AND MARY
Still speaking of the worship of ancestors, in some religions, one will tell you that it is difficult to reach God, but that there are still some people who really aimed at perfection during their earthly life, and those people are called saints. So they will tell you that we must first pray to the saints, and in turn, they will pass the prayer on to Mary, who in turn will pass it on to her Son Jesus and Jesus, in turn, will pass it on to His Father. Beloved, why all these long gymnastics? The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." It is in the name of Jesus alone that we must pray. Jesus Himself said: "And I will do whatever you ask in My name." So why these long gymnastics? Salvation is found in no other name than the name of Jesus

@@zhelishihara9749, yes, satanists have infiltrated the Catholic Church; satan has hated it since Our Lord started it and so he deceives many into believing it is merely a human institution but it has not survived 2000+ years despite being filled with sinners without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Do not reject the church of the Apostles because of Judas. As Jesus said when He started His Church, “The forces of the netherworld will not prevail against it.” Good Catholics are devoting themselves to Christ’s restoration of His Church. This Pope Francis may not be holy but the official teachings of the Catholic Church always will be.

What amazes me about this passage: Jesus does not reproach the woman. This woman leaves her water pot to tell the people about the living water. It somewhat parallels Mary Magdalene leaving the empty tomb to tell the disciples about the risen Lord. Dr. Pitre brings out so many elements of this passage that I had never before heard about or considered.

Consider another perspective. The woman is not a sinner but one who is suffering as you mentioned. The 5 husbands can be the result of death (i.e Tobit or levirate marriage) and she is now living with a relative who is providing support. A person who is living in sin and a scandalous life would not have been able to gather the whole town to hear Jesus. Her reaction to and conversation with Jesus appears to reflects her suffering and seeking truth. There is much more symbolism in the story as well. Also, Jesus does not mention her sins being forgiven and the admonition to sin no more as in other stories where He encounters sinners.

    • @ramonracho9891
      @ramonracho9891 4 года назад +1

Matthew, you are correct about the number of wives. Point was not about resurrection but that there could be a reason for a woman having multiple husbands without being in sin, being divorced or living a scandalous life. Off point, the apostles would be wondering about Jesus speaking to the woman on several points. Just speaking with her would make Him "unclean" as would using her jug/water dipper. I relate this perspective because the traditional interpretation casts her as a sinner but the text does not clearly support that view. As Dr Petri mentioned her actions might be attributed to sin or perhaps suffering and sorrow. One suffers much losing one spouse and we can only imagine losing five. Have you walked in her sandals?

It was also pointed out that in John's gospel this is the first person Jesus so fully reveals himself to by telling her he's the Messiah, and they didnt even mention that in the Greek it says "I am." So the person he first reveals himself to is an outcast woman sinner in the context of a betrothal place. 😭 One could weep over the beauty.

Catholics hav been very good at obeying Jesus when he says carry this out through generations or do this in memory of me, these are traditions to be carried through years but Catholics for get the story of the woman who came n anointed Him with oil n used her hair to wipe the tears of his feet jus as Jesus washed the feet’s of his disciples n wiped them dry. Then he said to the men who invited him to the meal. U invited me but u did not honor me she honored me so let her story be told forever. So as Catholics we should carry this out through out generations like he said. This one they missed all is of the mass is fulfilled 😊✝️🙏📖⛪️

Just wondering, is there any other part of the New Testament, where the actions and speech of Jesus are narrated in the absence of his disciples or at least other witnesses? Isn't that strange? We have come to believe that the New Testament was based on the accounts of those who were around Jesus at the time those incidents happened. The writers -- whose narratives are ascribed to disciples Matthew, Mark, Luke and John -- actually existed long after Jesus died, came back to life, and ascended to Heaven. It could be argued that their accounts were based on the narratives of those who were present when Jesus walked the Earth. But in the case of the Samaritan woman at the well, there were just her and Jesus. In fact, if Jesus went to the well for the purpose of talking to her, which seems to be the case, then we can also assume that he deliberately asked his disciples to be away when he talked to her. If that is the case, why? So who was the source of the narrative? If not Jesus himself, then it must be the Samaritan woman, or other witnesses to whom she retold her encounter with Jesus. And John's narrative is so vivid to the point that the relatively long dialogue between him and the woman was retold word for word, line by line, as if an electronic recording device was used, as if a stenographer or a reporter was present! I find that strange. (CGH)

It would appear that on this occasion, Our Lord was wearing either a Jewish prayer shawl, or some other clothing item which marked Him as an observant Jew. That is because the woman recognised that He was Jewish, suggesting He was wearing distinctive Jewish clothing. If he had worn 'secular' clothes the woman would not have known He was Jewish.

The more faith the more miracles Christ would do and the lesser faith Christ could only do a few miracles and when he often came to other villages why did some of them push Jesus out but did not test or beat him? Were they faithless or did they not want to have Jesus preaching their?

Yes I 100% agree with you that we MUST have a relationship with God. I don’t know why you’d assume a catholic doesn’t? All of our prayers and daily meditations, our Mass and our sacraments... everything is focused on growing closer to God and being sanctified in Him so that it can become more and more of a reality.
However I don’t agree with the other half of your premises...
15 if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.
      1 Timothy 3:15 | NRSVCE
Just pointing out that even Paul recognises God’s own physical church and it’s role is safeguarding the truth. If the bible can be interpreted in such a way as there are 30K+ different Protestant denominations because of disagreement on the very same text, then wouldn’t it make sense there’d be divinely protected arbiters of truth (apostolic succession) to make sure the interpretation is correct? It’s logical and it’s also what Jesus gave us (and He is the Logos so therefore logical).
Food for thought before I leave you:
Right worship of God involves sacrifice. The bible mentions this. The earliest church fathers, the apostles of the apostles wrote of this. God has always used a physical church to make atonement for sin in this way. All Christians believed this uninterrupted for 1500 years... including the dissenters like Calvin and Luther who believed in the Eucharist. Perhaps loving God also involves love for the gifts he’s given us... the best of all the Eucharist.
God bless you and peace be to you. I am a sinner just trying to work out my salvation in fear and trembling as St Paul said. No better than you. God bless you.

I am very sorry that churches did you harm. I hope you can find forgiveness for anything the Catholic Church may have done to you. Whomever is responsible will have to answer for it and on judgement day all truth will come to light. In the meantime God asks us to forgive as He forgives us. If it’s any consolation, I’m very sorry.
Jesus said that loving the truth saves you (2 Thess 2:10). Jesus is the Logos (John 1:1 see the Greek), we are made in the image and likeness of God. We have rational minds able to employ logic and reason to know truth. Very beautiful. He doesn’t leave us without tools for discernment. And as I started, loving the truth saves you. So it’s very important to contemplate the idea of whether Jesus left an actual physical church because he says that church must be one and they have THE truth.
I argue that it is plain to see in the bible that Jesus did leave a church. Happy to go into that in more detail with scriptural evidence if you’d like to have that discussion. That church still stands today. No one in all their humanness would invent the Catholic Church to suit human desires! That just goes against reason in my mind! Jesus said that not even the gates of hell would prevail against His church and 2000 years later, here the Catholic Church is. Please sit and contemplate it.
May God cling close to you. Please know your statement that churches have harmed you has not fallen on deaf ears. I’ll pray for you for the graces you need. God bless you

Three hundred years after Jesus told you in simple easy to decipher words that He was sent by, prays to, humbles Himself to and worships, The Father. Oh and He agreed with Isaiah and reminded you The Father called those who worship through man made doctrines, hypocrites. Mat 15:7-9
What Jesus said to the woman at the well is the time has come that you have no need for religion or places of religion. Bring your spirit, your heart of love and truth and worship The Father directly.

SAMARITAN WOMAN WAS A VICTIM OF HER FIANCE'S BATTLE AGAINST THE POWER OF DARKNESS.
There's a God's law of creation, if a male child is born then equally a female child is also be born correspondingly, they're born for each other bearing the image of God with one another, so if a man becomes young & apply this law in search of his fiance then he would absolutely come to know where she has been born, her religion, her name, her language, her culture etc., and in this Godly life project, there's no place for sin or sexuality or desire for lustful thoughts, caste, creed, culture, language, religion, race.
God's Spirit indwelled man can send his DNA in the form of an invisible Spirit & impregnate his wife without physically touching her. This should've been a way for procreation in the beginning but it was lost, and instead the sinful way, meaning sexual relationships was imposed or introduced by an adversary the devil 😈 so as to run this world 🌍.
However, an adversary the devil is keen and don't allow Godly life project in this world 🌍, so he takes action to destroy either of one who strive for a Godly life, most probably the devil who have his disciples of wicked guys & motivate them who would take an action to deceive the concerned female during the days of her youth & led her into a prostitution, and it would be known to the concerned male who have been born for her, and prompt him to mental agony but when an appropriate time comes both of them meet in person, the female doesn't know to whom she meets, it's just like that for her, and leave him but the male does know to whom he meets & knew that his fiance has become a victim of his battle against the power of darkness the devil, and no mistake in her part, so it is a great deal for him to meet her with great LOVE, but end up with a great lose of his life by losing her. John 4 has this story back in the 1st century, Samaritan woman was a victim and born as a wife of the Messiah but destroyed by an adversary the devil 😈.
This world survives the way it is to this day, however this world would come to an end through one who have discovered the God's theory of creation and apply, and he may lose his life and he can't try to build his life with some other female since someother woman has been born for some other male, thus he can't, and in this kind of situation God would take an action to bring this world to an end, and in this reason the world affairs like politics, science, economy, tecnology, wars, natural calamities etc., are playing a role as a battle between Light and darkness which would come to an end & God shall return so as to reward him an everlasting life, creating the New Heaven and New Earth & throwing an adversary along with his wicked guys to the lake of fire 🔥.
Conclusion: Men have discovered the physical laws that govern our universe, but the purpose they have failed to figure out, and still searching, this tiny message may an eye opener for those who still search for answers of life tough questions. This world was begun with one couple and in same manner this world 🌍 would come to an end with one couple who have been in the creation theory of God, so this world would come to the climax within 3.5 years from now as of May 2024.

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (Here he asks for water, real water, physical earth water)
9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (He asks her for water, not the reverse, yet now Jesus flips the subject, not her and begins to preach his mission, not discussing water, but she doesn’t know this)
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? (he asked for “real” water, she’s just stating the obvious, “no way to get water” (again, she doesn’t get the he’s twisting the conversation, just answering his request for “real” water not catching his twist in the conversation.
12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”(again, just following the original conversation)
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”(continuing the “mission” to preach which is fine, just she doesn’t know this)
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”(here she doesn’t understand he twisted the conversation to a theological preaching moment, discussions, she’s just wants this “real” water he’s talking about that is magical. She’s a simple Samaritan just trying to get water.
16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” (Is he tricking her? Is he passing judgment on her? NO. he's just showing her he’s the prophet.) (not judging her as sinned caused she hasn't otherwise he would've said It directly which he doesn't.
17 “I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” Again, he states the obvious without judgement just the facts cause she hadn't sinned and he needed here to go tell people to come learn from him about other issues. the 5 husbands was a good way to let her know he was special.
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” (again, just commenting on her observations, that he is an educated man because he guided the conversation that direction, not her.)
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you-I am he.”
(he never once judged her for her many husbands, never passed judgement on her sexual past, that is clear. He just stated the obvious to prove he “knew” her and that was the messiah. People get so worked up and mis-directed to simple biblical passages. This guy is reading way to much INTO this story.)
As too we see Genesis and the comments of “seed spilling”, Not from Jesus but from Moses, we don’t know what the purpose was of Moses at that time, what he wanted his people, to do politically, culturally, socially. What was his motives? what is written has to be intermitted with caution. Jesus didn’t say it, Moses did. For reason we will never know.

Snow Rider I wonder if you have ever met any woman who has had 5 husbands (i.e. Divorced 5 times) and living with an unmarried man. It does happen, especially in the culture we live in today. The infidelity that comes with having multiple affairs can be detrimental to a persons social status and can lead them to false beliefs about fidelity.
