  • We knew before we started writing that Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well would be the climax of Season One.
The story has so many beautiful layers, and Dallas and Rabbi Jason explored them at the actual location in Israel.

What's more amazing is that this woman was rejected in her community, and yet when she goes back to claim she had seen Messiah, everybody believed her. That's the power of holy Spirit!

They listened to her because she was probably not an adulterous women as shown in the series... She went through so many husbands because she could not have children and it was common to divorce a women quickly if she did not get pregnant. Other women would stay away from her because they were worried about her barrenness rubbing off on them. This scenario better explains why people believed her ..I learned this interpretation from those in the hebrew roots movement.

@@gy5240 unfortunately, "Hebrew-roots", or Messianics, as they are more commonly known, advocate observance of Torah, even though it's not required of believers. We are _justified_ through Christ...but also _sanctified_ by Christ (through the Holy Spirit). Messianics have a Christ+Torah viewpoint, and take great offense when you tell them that the Mosaic Law was merely a shadow of what was to come, in the new covenant Christ established. The only way the new covenant could be established was by making the first obsolete. Messianics claim Jesus only did away with the 'ceremony and ritual' of the law, but not Torah itself.
Christ was the only one who could keep the righteous requirements of the law, and he was the only one who could satisfy it's penalty, to become our atonement sacrifice. Through Him, those righteous requirements have been _fully_ met in us; this is justification. Yet, he also promised to send us the Counselor, the Holy Spirit. He (the Spirit) speaks to us what he hears from Christ, and He alone is our guide through the day-to-day. There is no need for Torah observance, because we've already had those requirements fully met through Christ! Now, we listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance. It's the voice which keeps us abiding in Christ. There is no "license to sin", because we remain in Christ with the same faith we had at justification, and are progressively sanctified (made holy) by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I would recommend you seek an alternative source, other than Messianic/Hebrew-roots, and pray for proper guidance.

Jesus came ONLY for the lost sheep of Israel. There is a very good reason for him saying this.
The Truth of the Bible is that Israel is a special people. A people that are chosen by God to be the vehicle of His blessings to all other nations.
MANY, MANY people perceive this in the wrong way, which leads to confusion. This confusion opens the door for jealousy and pride.
The teaching in this video is flawed and misleading.
And how dare you switch from men teaching to women teaching...
      You know what you did.
You are being called out for your trickery here.

You people are a prime example of how deceived believers twist the scripture in order to justify their misguided beliefs.
Many women today are trying to justify female preachers and they often use this woman at the well as their example.
I suggest you really read that John 4 scripture and you will find that Jesus did not use the woman at all. He simply told the woman about herself and then He told her who He was. Then all the woman did was tell others that she met a man who told her the all the things that she ever did and she stated, could this be the Christ?
So just because the woman testified that a man told her about everything that she had done, woman today are insinuating that God used this woman to preach scripture and that is an outright lie.
If anything this scripture is relating that the woman was a doubter. Look here:
“The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He. ”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭4:25-26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jesus told her that He was the Christ but yet look what the woman stated to the men of her village.
“The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭4:28-30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
She did not say that she met the Christ. She stated could this be the Christ as if she was unsure.
This is an example of how wicked believers will twist the narrative of a scripture to coincide with their misguided and deceived beliefs.

Can you imagine how the world would change if we could try to see people as Jesus does? He sees into our hearts and says that it doesn’t matter where we are from or what we have done. He loves us. But only He can pierce our divided hearts and help us to love as He loves us all.

If he had not given Mary her ministry then we would not have women ministries today. They try to portray Jesus and Mary as more but the truth is that if he had not taught her the secrets of the kingdom, women today would not have a voice in society. Just as if the veil had not been split that we should still offer sacrifices for redemption. The new testament is all about change, and forgiveness, and sacrifice, and love. Noone seems to get the reason or importance of the woman at the well but you better believe that it is one of the most important stories of the bible. More should be said about this subject and I appreciate very much your insight on the matter.

I dont think there are words to adequately describe the emotions!!! Love, love, love the wit and wisdom of the writing style....... "I was counting on it" ....PERFECT and PRICELESS for sure!!!!

OH MY SWEETHEART, OH HOW I LOVE YOU ALL . I FELT SO MUCH PAIN FOR THAT WOMAN AT THE WELL, YOU SEE I COULD RELATE TO HER, YOU MADE IT ALL SO REAL. ALSO I HAD THREE BROKEN MARRIAGES AND GOT STONED VERBALLY OVER THE YEARS. YOU SEE I WAS A ROMAN CATHOLIC. NOW I JUST ADORE GOD SO MUCH MORE THESE DAY'S. BECAUSE OF "THE CHOSEN". I'M A LADY OF 76YEARS WHO HAD SO MANY MIXED UP EMOTIONS OVER RELIGION, YOU ALL HAVE ENABLED ME TO SEE ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW. JESUS IN "THE CHOSEN" APPEARS SO REAL, GENTLE, KIND BUT FAIR, EXCELLENT ACTING. " THAT GOD CAME DOWN ON EARTH TO TEACH US HUMANS AND ALL RELIGIONS YOU CAN SPEAK TO ME", "I'M NOT UP THERE IN THE FAR OFF CLOUDS I'M WITHIN YOU". THIS UNDERSTANDING GENTLE MAN IS OUR CREATOR" "BECAUSE HE LOVED US ALL SO MUCH HE DIED FOR US ALL ON THAT CROSS IN A BRUTAL MANNER" "HE WILL NEVER FORSAKE US" THE MESSAGE IS " TO SPEAK TO YOUR FATHER GO INTO YOUR CLOSET SHUT YOUR DOOR HE IS WAITING FOR US ALL TO DO THAT". HE WANTS US ALL "TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOUR AS THEY SELF". TELL THE FATHER ALL THAT WOUNDS YOU HE WILL NOT FORSAKE OR LEAVE US. HE IS ALL ABOUT LOVE, HE ASK'S US ALL TO FORGIVE AS HE FORGAVE US. WHAT A WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL GOD WE ALL HAVE. GOD'S NEVER ENDING BLESSINGS CYNTHIA UK. THANK YOU ALL.XXXX

YES THAT IS SO TRUE, HOWEVER WE ARE TAUGHT AS A ROMAN CATHOLIC A DIVORCED PERSON CAN NOT TAKE THE SACRAMENTS, THEY CAN NOT REMARRY WHILST THEIR SPOUSE IS STILL ALIVE. IF THEY CHOOSE TO FORM A RELATIONSHIP AND RE-MARRY YOU ARE COMMITING ADULTERY. THAT RE- MARRIAGE IS VOID. IF YOUR PARTNER IS STILL ALIVE. YOUR RE- MARRIAGE CAN NOT BE PERFORMED WITHIN A R.C CHURCH AS IT IS A HUGE SIN IN THE EYES OF THE R C CHURH AND GOD. IFYOU STAY SINGLE AND HAVE A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP THAT IS ALSO A SIN. I SAY THIS BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAY'S LIKE IN "THE CHOSEN" GO SIN NO MORE, THE WOMAN AT THE WELL HAD FIVE MARRIAGES, WHEN JESUS ASKED HER "TO BRING HER HUSBAND" SHE REPLIED " HE IS NOT MY HUSBAND" JESUS THEN SAID "BECAUSE YOU SPOKE THE TRUE GO SIN NO MORE" IN OTHER WORDS HE KNEW SHE WAS NOT MARRIED TO THE MAN SHE WAS LIVING WITH SO HE SAID "GO AND SIN NO MORE". (GET MARRIED) STOP LIVING IN SIN. THIS IS THE TEACHINGS OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH I'M NOT SAYING IT'S RIGHT OR WRONG. GODS BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL AND THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH I JUST LOVE "THE CHOSEN" CYNTHIA UK.

This is the way that Jesus Called Paul , on the road to Damascus. This is the way He appeared to me. A college friend of mine became a Christian & proclaimed that he wouldn't pray for me because it was a waste of time & a waste of breath. But Jesus came into my bedroom one night, uninvited, & told me a horrible thing: that He wanted me to surrender my entire life into His hands. I argued with Him. Then I surrendered. Everything changed. When I repented & got out, He came in with love, joy , peace, gentleness, meekness, kindness & self control. New life, filled with the Holy Spirit. That was almost 40 years ago. I still love Him.

This, just like the woman caught in adultery, shows me how Jesus didn't come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world. Jesus called out this woman's sins. He would have been right and just to condemn her over them but instead loved her and used her to spread his message of repentance and love.
It also shows me that Jesus didn't call the righteous or the qualified. He made righteous and qualified those he called.

I have always loved this story. One of the most compelling things to me about the woman at the well was that when she realized that Jesus was Messiah, she left her water jar and immediately went to tell everyone. A water jar was valuable and important the women in this world. It would be unheard of for a woman to leave her water jar behind but scripture (John 4) says she did just that and John must have realized the importance of her leaving it, because he included the fact in his gospel. She met the living water, her savior, and her water jar was no longer of the utmost importance. Such a tiny detail but so much significance.

Such a convincing, powerful scene (among many other scenes in this series, of course).. what I really love about this though is how Jesus literally turns the full range of the Samaritan woman's feelings--her anger, contempt, utter despair and denial--into healing and joy, which finally free her to proclaim His name... as many viewers have said, this show really brings the Scriptures to life... the Chosen weaves the verses we know so well into dialogue that pushes the story forward and adds to the realism of the characters... I've watched this season twice already and will keep watching it until Season 2 is out!

The woman at the well has always been my favorite story in the New Testament . I’ve always been in awe that this woman had a one on one with Jesus. The only other person to have a genuine one on one with Jesus was Nicodemus. Jesus was never alone unless He went off to pray. To see my favorite story played out on screen was breathtaking. The moment she comes to the realization that she is standing in front of The Messiah, the gasp of breath. Thank you Dallas. Can’t wait for season 3. March 2023.

This is the story that I can most relate to RL and it had me in tears - well, more like LOTS of tears at the end. I asked Jesus to be my Savior at age 12, but was not raised in a Christian home so had to find my way through "churchianity". I have always wanted the Lord but was bound up in "I'm not "good enough" and my walk with the Lord has been hit and miss, different churches, different doctrinal teachings in each plus I live with depression & anxiety and have always felt condemnation. For those reasons I've never had peace/assurance about my salvation. My life has included many, many things for which I am so ashamed and was sure God didn't want me or want me back; it terrified me to think I would go to Hell. When Jesus began telling the woman at the well her history and how she'd been hurt through life, I lost it emotionally, then was rejoicing at the end. Now when the enemy tries to say, "God doesn't want you - you've done xyz" - the next thought I hear now is, "I know what you've been through. I know how you've been hurt and wanted to be pure then how your first marriage was," etc. God bless you for this scene and THANK YOU!!!

It was odd naming a child a name I had never heard before but the story is so powerful. She met Jesus and stopped living in her past and was fully am to be who God made her to be! That is the heart of why we named our girl Photina - and pray for her to be free and to be all God has called her life to be !

Wow this song couldn’t have came out at a better time. I recently gave my life to the Lord and I started reading the Bible. As I read it, I found the story about the woman at the well. My heart was torn by the overwhelming grace and love that our Heavenly Father has for broken women like myself. I had been struggling with shame from my past and I didn’t even know the Bible spoke on this kind of love. I was amazed! Right after that, I started watching The Chosen and saw the episode of the woman at the well. And now this song... I truly believe God placed this song across my path for even more confirmation of His gracious love and forgiveness. Thank you for sharing it and allowing God to use you to spread His gospel. I pray for anyone else struggling with shame and brokenness. You are loved and God has a plan and purpose for you! Embrace His gentle love and forgiveness. Seek after Him and you will find a love like no other. ❤️
