Yes, I now see Dr Pitre. When the new Adam (Jesus our Lord) this new exodus or righteousness that allows children of the Kingdom to enter heaven, when it had been previously closed by the disobedience of our first father and mother Eve. The Father confirms the Son. Jesus became sin for us, even though he never sinned. Thank you Lord Jesus because you give us Salvation. Hail Mary, full of Grace.
Appreciate and enjoyed the explanation as well as the connection to the Old Testament. Thank you so much for continuing to put these videos out. My understanding is growing giving me a deeper understanding and a desire to learn more and more. Peace and Blessings...
Dr. Brant Pitre has a lot of information to share. I, also, read/heard that one of the reasons for Jesus to be baptized with the water was so that waters can become cleansed/blessed moving forward for the purpose of effecting baptism with water and the Spirit.
I don't think this is a perfect way to explain it, but it was helpful to me. When I was in RCIA, the priest described it as Jesus baptizing the water, again, not a perfect description, but it helped me.
The best explanation I have ever heard goes something like this: In His Incarnation, Jesus united a fully human nature (a fully rational soul and a human body) to His fully divine nature, and deified it. However, because He is, in Himself the Eternal Word, the Divine Logos, the humanity He assumes to Himself, becomes infinite, immortal, eternal and incorrupt: making it possible for the whole of humanity to participate in His fully divine one as His mystical body, the Church. In baptism, sinful humanity can be cleansed, purified to participate in His mystical body through the grace of repentance from and the forgiveness of sin, because His sinless human body blessed the waters of baptism in the Jordan. In baptism we are engrafted into and become members of the human nature of Jesus Christ: adopted human sons and daughters of God - sons and daughters in the only begotten Son.
@@dennischege3659 umm wrong, what about St Thomas proclaiming “my Lord and my God” St Dysmas “remember me when you come into your kingdom” St. John the Baptist “the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” They knew and you disbelief. Pray.

Interesting video; I hadn't fully connected those dots (specifically the connection to Elijah and the exodus going upward toward the promised land instead of across the water into the promised land, at the same location where Elijah rode the chariot upward).
This is great stuff. I love Dr. Pitre's scholarship and insight. Just a note: I believe that this is NOT the Gospel we'll be hearing this Sunday, as we're now in Cycle B, with the Gospel of Mark, not the Gospel of Matthew in Cycle A that Dr. Pitre is so eloquently discussing in this video. Thank you for the great work. Please keep it up!
The most intriguing explanation of Jesus' Baptism. Fulfill righteousness... Wasn't Jesus' Baptism him first taking on the sins of all of us? He was fulfilling us fallen mankind's righteousness because we have to be perfect to meet God? He was baptized to remove our sins, he took our role in that baptism. It was memorialized by God with the descent of the dove/Holy Spirit. Then, he later literally died for our sins.
Old Covenant Baptism vs. New Covenant Baptism (water vs. Spirit) Water baptism was a part of the Old Covenant system of ritual washing. The Old Covenant priests had to wash before beginning their service in the temple. (Ex. 30:17-30) When Christ was water baptized by His cousin John in the Jordan River, He was under the Old Covenant system. He also only ate certain foods, and wore certain clothes, as prescribed by the 613 Old Covenant laws. Christ was water baptized by John and then received the Holy Spirit from heaven. The order is reversed in the New Covenant. A person receives the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and then believers often declare their conversion to their friends and family through a water baptism ceremony. Which baptism makes you a member of Christ’s Church? The New Covenant conversion process is described below. (Born-again) Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (A person must “hear” the Gospel, and “believe” the Gospel, and will then be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit.) Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (See Jer. 31:34 for the New Covenant promise, and 1 John 2:27 for the fulfillment) ============ Which baptism is a part of the salvation process, based on what the Bible says? What did Peter say below? Acts 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Also the return of Elijah . Malachi 4:5 kjb I see John as "Elisha", who vested Elijah's mantle, waiting for the return of Elijah at the same location he was raised. Christ is seen as "Elijah", the miracle wroker which He also was. Elisha put on Elijah's vest and carried on with the same "spirit" (2 King 2:13-16. Luke 1:17 kjb) after he ascended in the whirlwind. Here Matthew 3 kjb, the 2 reunites symnolically at Jordan river where they left off to fulfill Malachi 4:5 kjb. Jewish tradition still awaits for Elijah's (not Elisha) return at Passover.
The problem with your private interpretation is that it contradicts Jesus Christ's express teaching, that John the Baptist is "Elijah who is to come" for those who "have ears to hear".
I learned His baptism was in preperation for his ministry. As in the old testiment priest at 30 years old had to ceremonially wash there hands before starting the priesthood and ministry. I have learned that this was the righteousness that was to be fullfilled. Thoughts?
All through Tanakh (what Christians call the "Old Testament"), ritual washings were a sign of a new creation (the dry land arising , a renewal and ritual purification from sin . In the Torah, the prescriptions for ritual washings (mikveh baths) as a purification after childbirth, the conjugal union of spouses, and for various offenses pointed back to creation having begun by the dry land rising up out of the water, and humanity having been formed from that dry land; as well as the deluge of Noah destroying the humanity descended into animalistic "eye for an eye", and the rescue of Noah and His family being a "new creation", a "new Adam and Eve". I am not saying there was not also a ritual purification of priests at the onset of their ministry that Jesus also fulfilled, but that occurred within the broader context of 'mikveh' ritual purifications that pointed back to YHWH's having created the world which arose out of the 'deep' and the rescue of the world from sin in the Ark during the Deluge / Flood during the time of Noah.

Answer rather this point that I recently came across from Scott Hahn that it is an event that there are no witnesses to save John the Baptist (my favorite by the way) . So the account had to have been relayed to others and by only John or in some secondary account telling.
Of corse there is Baptism of babies in the new testament, there is only needed to be two to important elements according to what Jesus said to Nicodemos in John chapter 3 this are "Water" and "Spirit" John 3:3 and 3:5 3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. In Luke we can see the baby John the Baptist recieving the Holy Spirit while he is submerged in Amniotic Fluid that is mainly water with electrolytes, but by about the 12-14th week the liquid also contains proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and phospholipids, and urea, all of which aid in the growth of the fetus. Luke 1:39-42 39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! And we can confirm that John the Baptist recive the Holy Spirit even before he is born by the words said by the angel Gabriel to Zechariah father of John the Baptist Luke 1:11-15 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.

May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones. Deuteronomy 26:15 However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you: Deuteronomy 26:18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

In Old Testament a person was annoited by a Levite and then purified by water .And thus a full fillment of righteousness by getting baptized by John who was a Levite by lineage (his father was a Priest of temple). This would be in line of Gods Old Testament laws which they were still under untill Christ died/ ressurecction .They fullfilled righteousness in this way .
Oops! My mistake in my previous comment! This was from last year, when it was 2020! My mistake. It's no longer 2020, it's 2021. Dr. Pitre is correct! My mistake! Mea culpa!
Nigel Butt It is not the work of Thomas or James because they were written after their death and some of the writhing in it is contradictive to the gospel. The church determined those writings to not be inspired by the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit can’t contradict Himself and do you really believe Jesus would kill a child????
Nigel Butt the gospels were written in the times of the apostles and do not contradict eachother. There is enough evidence to show the authors were actually Matthew, Luke, John and Mark. Mathew was a tax collector (could clearly read and write Luke was a doctor... I can’t remember what exactly John and Marc did but I suggest you read Pietri book I think it’s called the case for Jesus.
Nigel Butt You replied to me dude... I didn’t know you were going to get all tickled about it. You have a lot of pride in you. If you don’t want people to reply to you, keep your suggestions for your self.
Nigel Butt I never put my self above anyone so my Lord says we are all equal. You sir can’t have a civil chat without getting your feelings hurt for simply getting an answer you did not like. You are the one suggesting to read heretic writings. Why don’t you go read what the church teaches about reading those books before you quote the Holy Bible? What a sore loser you are...
i love Dr. Pitre, his videos and books, especially his drawing on the Jewish scriptures...but 'Year A' ? really? isn't Dr. Pitre embarrassed to even say that? thank God for the traditional Missal with no 'Year A's or other Vatican II abuses
So, I think you are a little confused. The lectionary was revised after the Second Vatican Council to include a wider range and more extensive coverage of readings from the whole of the sacred Scriptures than had EVER been done before. If a faithful Catholic went to DAILY Mass now, he would hear read NEARLY the WHOLE of the sacred Scriptures over a three year period [hence the Year "A", Year "B", Year "C" thing]. In addition, the three years correspond with the synoptic Gospels with most of the Ordinary Time Gospel readings coming primarily from Matthew's Gospel in Year "A", Mark's Gospel in Year "B", and Luke's Gospel in Year "C". John's Gospel is read EVERY year during the Advent and Easter season. It isn't an abuse or apostasy to hear read MORE of the Bible now, than in the Tridentine lectionary, sir.
Given that Jesus was baptized just prior to His public ministry at age 30, why does The Church celebrate; three weeks later, the Feast of The Presentation of The Lord 40 days after The Feast of The Nativity of Jesus?
Jesus,.as a pious Jew, needed to obey / fulfill the 613 commandments / prescriptions of the Mosaic Torah. One of those was the presentation of all firstborn males before the Lord forty (40) days after birth during the time of the ritual purification of women following childbirth. So two things are going on simultaneously in the liturgical calendar: the Presentation of the Lord following Christmas as an INFANT coincides the the public "presentation" / onset of His public ministry at His baptism by John in the Jordan.
@@sleepystar1638 I would disagree with you about the onset of His public ministry. His public ministry begins at His baptism in the Jordan {"Behold the Lamb of God" from John the Baptist, and "This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" from the Father). Two disciples begin to follow Him there, Andrew and St. John the Evangelist (cf. John 1: 35-51). John 2 is the performance of His first public miracle. The "time" (or in some translations the "hour") Jesus is referring to at John 2 is His Passion, Death and Resurrection. His mother was asking Him to, in essence, "save" the wedding. Jesus was saying His salvation would be fully accomplished in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection from the dead.
1. Geography is not just geographical but also theological 2. One of the centrAl hopes is not just the coming of the Messiah but the Jews are waiting for the new Exodus. That the messiah will be like a new moses. 3. Fulfilment of righteousness is he is fulfilling the Scripture. So when he was baptized the heavens were open. So He is being anointed by the spirit of God. Messiah is the anointed one. Just like David that was anointed with oil as king 4. Heavens were opened. Book of kings chapter 2. Elijah was taken up to heaven after he parted the water of jordan. In Jesus, it isnt the water that parted but it was the Heaven. So Jesus reveals na its not the water that parted so they can go to the earthly promised land but the heaven so we can go to heavenly promised land
"Let it be so for now..." - The New Moses, New Exodus, New Jerusalem unveiled; to prepare the way for the New Passover, New Manna, New Lamb, New Sacrifice. Any HONEST Protestant who listens to Dr.Pitre, if he was honest, would convert to Catholicism based on common sense alone.
The early Church fathers actually point to the feast of the Presentation as John's anointing. You know the story - the blessed virgin Mary, at the Annunciation, is informed of God's special favor and mission for her life and she gives her fiat [Behold the handmaid of the LORD, be it done unto me according to your word.] to the archangel Gabriel. Immediately, because she was also told her cousin Elisabeth had conceived in her old age, and was already six months pregnant with the prophet John the Baptist, Mary is moved by the Spirit to visit Elisabeth and to tell her the news she received from God regarding the angelic salutation and the Incarnation of the Lord. The sacred Scriptures state, when she arrived with Jesus 'in utero' and reveals to Elisabeth the news of the Incarnation, that the Holy Spirit causes Elisabeth to prophesy and the 'in utero' prophet, John the Baptist to "leap in her womb". The early Church fathers saw John's anointing to be at that moment.
Good question😊🙏 God Annoints GOD is Holy Spirit And He Reveals The wonders of GOD is Beautiful love story to mankind.. ( And he can rest that Spirit on any man he chooses ) Matthew 3:16 and he saw the Spirit of God ( Jehovah ) descending like a dove and lighting on him. 1John 5:6-9 This is the one who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit ( Jehovah ) who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify; The Spirit, the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement. We accept man's testimony, but God's ( Jehovah's ) testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son 1Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God ( Jehovah ) and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men - the testimony given in its proper time ! Matthew 22:31 have you not read what God ( Jehovah ) said to you.. WORSHIP ONE GOD JEHOVAH
So what really happened is that Peter, Paul and a few other guys were watching Mary Magdalene and her friends take their weekly baths in the river. After they left they saw Jesus and John up river and they were playing some kind of naked dunking game. So Peter says, "Hey, what are you guys doing?" Jesus and John were caught off guard so John says, "Oh... um.... I'm dunking Jesus in the river like that story we heard in school about Achilles. You know, make him immortal." So the guys kinda say, "Oh, ok, whatever." As they are walking away Peter says, "Those two are always playing grab ass somewhere while the rest of us men are spying on the ladies." Then Paul says, "That John guy is Batshit Crazy, and now he's playing some naked dunking game with Jesus. I mean.... not that there's anything wrong with that." So from then on they referred to John as "John the Batshit". Move ahead a few centuries, several different language translations of the story, and "Batshit" became "Baptist". So basically the Baptist religion is based on some Baptist, aka "Batshit", naked gay guys dunking each other in a river.
@@brackguthrie9470 /S INTENSIFIES. I was mocking protestants, not agreeing with them :/. Just highlighting the fact that this story contradicts any notion of baptism being anything but an absolute necessity.
The Holy Spirit is no "omnipotent Lord who gives life" This is an invention of Nicea: no third Person of a triune God exists. It can be easily seen the "Holy Spirit" and "Spirit of God" are synonyms (see the gospels). Who is the "SPIRIT OF GOD" ? He is the almighty "GOD WHO IS A SPIRIT". Reasons: 1. Immediate: it's his NORMAL meaning, the "spirit of my father" is my "father who is a spirit", of course. 2. It's stated by Jesus "God is a spirit" (John 4:24): that Spirit must have a name - that is "the Spirit of God". 3. We have evidence that indeed EVERYTHING in the gospels is made by "God who is a spirit", that is by the "Spirit of God" aka "Holy Spirit" 4. Jesus states that the Father is indeed more important than Him "But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, will not be forgiven..." 5. If God is a spirit, this means that God "in a normal form" is NOT here "the world has not known You" (a confirmation) 6. John saw the "Spirit of God", appear and say "This is my beloved Son in...", in other terms here the Father - who is a spirit - greets his Son. This is what happens when Jesus was baptized.
If the Holy Spirit is not God then why Jesus puts it at the same level as God the Father when he said: Baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit The tradition of the catholic church gave birth to scripture. Jesus taught orally and that oral tradition was passed from the Apostles to their successors (bishops, priests, deacons). It was the catholic church that wrote and first assembled the bible. And it was the catholic church that was founded by Jesus. Only the catholic church was promised to be guided by the Holy Spirit(God) to continue in the truth. Any other church has false doctrines because is not of God.
@@Personaje123 Those people didn't understand the gospels: no "third divine person" exists, no "Lord who gives life" exists. Just the Father (but only in the form of a spirit) and the Son exist now. The Father in his "normal form" is ABSENT, you can indeed notice that in the gospels everything is made by the Holy Spirit, not by God, that judgment is carried out by the Son, that the Father is "not available" (see the answer to Philip), that the Son sits next to the POWER of God. Where is the almighty God? He dwells in a very distant past, before the birth of mankind "...you loved me BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN. O righteous Father, THE WORLD HAS NOT KNOWN YOU." However, from that distant past the Father is able to be here now, but just with his words and actions. This means that God is like "a spirit" here ("God is a spirit"). In reality NOBODY is here, He is absent. This is why the Son INHERITS the reign of God " The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand." The Son has thus the "Father who is a spirit" and calls Him sometimes "Father", sometimes "Spirit" (Holy) according to circumstances, but they are just two equivalent names. This is why He always APPEARS to "forget" the remaining One (see blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (He "forgets" the Father), see "only the Father knows" (He "forgets" the Holy Spirit), "I am not alone because the Father is with me" (He again "forgets" the Holy Spirit)...). Thus the Holy Spirit=the Father (in the form of a spirit). To recap, in the baptismal formula "the Father" is the Father who dwells in that distant past, NO ONE SAW HIM EVER (not even Lucifer), whilst "the Holy Spirit" is the Father now, in the form of a spirit. In the baptism of Jesus, the Holy Spirit - who is the Father - simply said "...you are my beloved Son...". No birds "LIKE a dove", no "magical fluids" there.
@@QuisutDeusmpc My theory has nothing to do with the Sabellius theories. In my theory in reality ONLY the Son of God is here!!! As far as the almighty God is concerned, EITHER you can think that God is HERE but He is in the form of a spirit (the Holy Spirit) (actions are taken by Him but NO ONE is here) OR - if you prefer - you can alternatively think that we have a TEMPORAL BRIDGE with the almighty God who dwells in a distant past and who can reach us and be here with his words and actions. In the latter case you can FORGET the existence of the Holy Spirit! You have the choice between the above two options, where the Persons are always TWO in number, NOT THREE as in the case of Sabellius! In the first option God is made by Jesus and the Holy Spirit who is here (they are TWO), in the second option God is made by Jesus and the Father who, however, dwells in a remote past (they are still TWO).

Jesus baptiZed in water makes it the sacrament and efficacious for us to be in His kingdom.. Pope Benedict says
The best explanation I have ever heard goes something like this:
In His Incarnation, Jesus united a fully human nature (a fully rational soul and a human body) to His fully divine nature, and deified it.
The baptism of Christ, known as Theophany because it reveals the Holy Trinity. Historically, it is the 2nd greatest feast on the Church calendar.
The trinity is a false doctrine of man ,there is only one God,the father ,and there is the son of God ,Jesus Christ

Woowwwwww just wowwwww Dr......God bless you bro😍😍😍
Could "descending like a dove" be referring to the dove, released by Noah, that never returned?
In the baptism of Jesus there was voice from heaven and appearance of dove. TRINITY

Old Covenant Baptism vs. New Covenant Baptism (water vs. Spirit)
Water baptism was a part of the Old Covenant system of ritual washing.
(Born-again)
Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(A person must “hear” the Gospel, and “believe” the Gospel, and will then be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit.)
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
(See Jer. 31:34 for the New Covenant promise, and 1 John 2:27 for the fulfillment)

Which baptism is a part of the salvation process, based on what the Bible says?
Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text.

Also the return of Elijah . Malachi 4:5 kjb
I see John as "Elisha", who vested Elijah's mantle, waiting for the return of Elijah at the same location he was raised.
Elijah was taken up to heaven.it is called bodily assumed to heaven or assumption. And Jesus is that of Resurrection.
Thoughts?
Michael Nevarez This makes sense since John is in a priestly line and He was being baptized at the age one could be a priest in the OT.
Brazen laver in O T. Preisthood. had to wash before entering the holy place to minister

Of corse there is Baptism of babies in the new testament, there is only needed to be two to important elements according to what Jesus said to Nicodemos in John chapter 3
this are "Water" and "Spirit"
John 3:3 and 3:5
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
In Luke we can see the baby John the Baptist recieving the Holy Spirit while he is submerged in Amniotic Fluid that is mainly water with electrolytes,
but by about the 12-14th week the liquid also contains proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and phospholipids, and urea, all of which aid in the growth of the fetus.
Luke 1:39-42
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,
40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!
And we can confirm that John the Baptist recive the Holy Spirit even before he is born by the words said by the angel Gabriel to Zechariah father of John the Baptist
Luke 1:11-15
11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him,
standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear.
13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard.
Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.
14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,
15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink,
and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.

New International Version
Jacob Wrestles With God
22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons(A) and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.(B) 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions.(C) 24 So Jacob was left alone,(D) and a man(E) wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip(F) so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”
But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”(G)
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”
“Jacob,”(H) he answered.
28 Then the man said, “Your name(I) will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a](J) because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”(K)
29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”(L)
But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?”(M) Then he blessed(N) him there.
30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[b] saying, “It is because I saw God face to face,(O) and yet my life was spared.”
31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel,[c](P) and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip,(Q) because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

My mistake! Mea culpa!
My only question here would be...
Before He was baptized, I assume The Lord always had the Holy Spirit...
I wish we knew what He did before baptism.
Nigel Butt
Those are not inspired writings...
Nigel Butt
It is not the work of Thomas or James because they were written after their death and some of the writhing in it is contradictive to the gospel.
Mathew was a tax collector (could clearly read and write
Luke was a doctor...
I can’t remember what exactly John and Marc did but I suggest you read Pietri book I think it’s called the case for Jesus.
Nigel Butt
You replied to me dude...
@@QuisutDeusmpc his public ministry started at the Wedding at Cana. He even tells Mary, Mother of God, it is not yet my time.
1. Geography is not just geographical but also theological
Just like David that was anointed with oil as king
Acts 2:39
Acts 2:38.
Even God believes in the Adam and Eve story.
If John the baptized, baptized Jesus, who baptised John?
Good question😊🙏

This is the one who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit ( Jehovah ) who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify; The Spirit, the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement. We accept man's testimony, but God's ( Jehovah's ) testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son

You need to deal with your anger and anti-religion issues and start taking some anti-psychotic meds, sir.
Jesus was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist baptism is Jewish baptism
The Holy Spirit is no "omnipotent Lord who gives life" This is an invention of Nicea: no third Person of a triune God exists.
It can be easily seen the "Holy Spirit" and "Spirit of God" are synonyms (see the gospels).
Who is the "SPIRIT OF GOD" ? He is the almighty "GOD WHO IS A SPIRIT". Reasons:
1. Immediate: it's his NORMAL meaning, the "spirit of my father" is my "father who is a spirit", of course.
2. It's stated by Jesus "God is a spirit" (John 4:24): that Spirit must have a name - that is "the Spirit of God".
3. We have evidence that indeed EVERYTHING in the gospels is made by "God who is a spirit", that is by the "Spirit of God" aka "Holy Spirit"
4. Jesus states that the Father is indeed more important than Him "But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, will not be forgiven..."
5. If God is a spirit, this means that God "in a normal form" is NOT here "the world has not known You" (a confirmation)
6. John saw the "Spirit of God", appear and say "This is my beloved Son in...", in other terms here the Father - who is a spirit - greets his Son.
This is what happens when Jesus was baptized.
If the Holy Spirit is not God then why Jesus puts it at the same level as God the Father when he said: Baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
The tradition of the catholic church gave birth to scripture.
This is why the Son INHERITS the reign of God " The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand."
The Son has thus the "Father who is a spirit" and calls Him sometimes "Father", sometimes "Spirit" (Holy) according to circumstances, but they are just two equivalent names.

What you are espousing is the ancient heresy proposed by Sabellius known as "modalism".
@@QuisutDeusmpc
My theory has nothing to do with the Sabellius theories.
