How to use custom samples in XLN Audio XO and create unique presets

- I just wanted to make my own presets in XO and this happened...
My saved presets sounded different every time I auditioned them. Why?
XO has a feature called Search & Find, which allows you to swap out different sounds in the kit easily with various filters. Its easy to overlook that window and you might not know when it is active. That's the problem I ran into when making presets this week. I deleted everything and started over before I realized what was happening.
Seriously though, XO is fantastic and you should get it at the next sale.
Thanks for watching!

That's a feature and imo a pretty good one. Also this video could've been 2 instead of almost 8 minutes long :)
It's a feature. It's also "linked" in a way to the sound variation bubbles. You filter out sounds (by search, path, anything available on the search tab) and then the presets load their respective patters/mixer settings/envelope/fx with a selection from the filtered out sounds. And you can audition kit variations from the filtered out sounds!
I also believe that it selects the new sounds to be "close" to the OG sounds. It's handy - for me at least! Maybe XLN could make a setting to reset the filter when changing presets 🤷
Thanks for the tip!
Quick Question: Is it possible to edit the names of the folders in the library? I’ve uploaded all of my Native Instruments Expansion Packs but all of the folder are labeled “Drums”. I’d love to be able to edit the names so I know which Expansions I’m filtering.
great tnx. can you load a preset, and edit it, and then duplicate it or save it as a new preset? without 'overwriting' the first one? how?
hey friend. do you know how i can see the note of samples in xln without using a pitch plugin outside?
Is there an option to download any additional presets, i have only 248?
Thanks in advance!
I have no problems to create a preset, for this this SW is optimal! I have problems: How can i catagorize my presets? Like in fills, rolls, breaks, main or 4/4....? Maybe by GENRE???
Looks more like a feature than a bug.
I don't think I said it was a bug. Its easy to miss that when you make a search in the Space window, that search will also affect sounds while preset loading. I didn't interact with the filter at all, so why would it be activated?
Good one thank you for sharing
The patterns are separate from the sounds in xo. By design.
how do you feel about the search on the Space page linked to the presets page? I can't be the only one thrown off by that.
@@TheREAPERBlog I’ve never used the search function, so I haven’t run into this issue. When I select presets, the appropriate sounds load for me. I have to watch the video again to see how you were able to do that.
I have asked them to make exchange user presets possible. But still it's not possible 😢
There haven’t been significant updates for a long time. Guess they just gave up on the product.
@@gtz999 i Don't think so. It's relatively new
oh interesting I hadn't got that far yet. I did just find the user folder and even found my deleted presets. Can these not be shared with other users?
Funny thing, after restoring my deleted presets, and making sure the search is off, the presets aren't loading with the correct samples every time.
@@TheREAPERBlog no. It's just presets without the actual samples. Useless ((
What an annoying issue. Glad I never bought it lol. It looked cool 3+ years ago but looks like they haven't come that far since.
unrelated comment but... XO get all this hype while Atlas 2 (which actually created the whole concept) gets often forgotten, I'll leave this as a tip for anyone interested 😉
I demoed both, it was very close, and I like both but XO had more UI polish and better fx for me. I also like the euclidean pattern stuff in XO. Finally, with discounts from Plugin Boutique it was a bit cheaper that day.
@@TheREAPERBlog could you elaborate on the "euclidean" stuff in XO? I've been using it a bit and not aware of this feature... thanks!
You should have gone for the original that they blatantly copied: Atlas by Algonaut. Version 2 is superior to this copy named X0. And you would have supported a single indie developer.
I think Jon owns Atlas as well :)
From a design perspective this is really badly done: It's not clear what is what, the color scheme is all over the place (why a dark theme with the rainbow color palette? What could be even more confusing?), and the layout of the UI is prone to misreadings and therefore errors. Honestly, it's onw of the aspects that kept me far away from it.
Waste of time watching this video.
What were you hoping to learn? I’m still using XO and recently did a quick overview of it on stream.
@@TheREAPERBlog Clickbait title which makes no sense isn't something that will bring you fame & respect on RUclips in 2023
just trying to explain something that frustrated me with XO. Suggest a better title please and I will change it.
@@TheREAPERBlog I had no desire to insult you, but the title "How to use custom samples in XLN Audio XO and create unique presets in no time" would make more sense for a RUclips search and for the view count.
Thanks. I've changed it
