This is dope, would really love if the devs would put more time for midi, producer focused features, basically adding some of the script features in native reaper.
@@Tychomusic sure Tycho, I really like these scripts that make producing music much easier in Reaper (at least for me lol) and adds some of the comparable "missing features" in Reaper: RS5K manager, MArpeggiator, Lil Chordbox, McSequencer, ChordGun, MST5K, Item Modifiers, MIDI Ex Machina, MX Tuner, MIDI editor tools by Julian Sander, MK Slicer etc. etc. I don't use all of them all the time, but I really like all of them.
Thnx a ton, for the in-depth and detailed videos on how to use Reaper. Have been using Reaper for a little more than a year and are very happy, that my first DAW was Reaper. I have never considered any other option in this time. It was overwhelming at start, despite having worked with computers for +35 years, but thnx to you and a few others, I can now use Reaper for my recordings and music production, thus I am still a very much beginner and have so much still to learn. Shout out to The REAPER Blog for all the excellent videos. Just wanted to know, when is Reaper going to find a fix for that WHITE MENU BAR at the very top including all of the drop downs to have them in DARK MODE for Windows users? You are on a MAC and I believe you can manipulate this on a MAC easily, however, in Windows, you cannot unless I am missing something. The top MENU BAR background is controlled by Windows an not REAPER, but Reaper should provide a solution to this for Windows users who have paid for this software. We are all losing our eyesight. White background does not make it anymore. There is just too much music and love to record. Thank you for reading this message.
Thank you for all the info about news, it’s super. But I miss news about “Musical Notation”, is this a fotgotten isue, or is it going to be better in th future?
Great video! While not the focus of the video, I loved the idea of setting up a dedicated toolbar to the new functionality within a certain context (i.e. Take Markers). Really helps to try them all out instead of constantly diving back into the Action menu every time. Seems so obvious now I've seen it and I'll definitely use it for other things myself. Thank you!
5:50 LOL! That's the most satirical part. Let that sink in. Now everybody repeat that part. I start: "uprank actions to down ranks uphill rank action act like down up crank bank unranked low rank action marker take fake hike rank. prank. Hank!"
Reaper is amazing, and also drastically over-featured for my use cases :). I think all this stuff is really cool, and i see how clunky my methods would appear to many. I also rarely have a fast deadline, so i am kinda fine with the slowness, gives me time to think and hear. That said, I am super duper happy with how Reaper has grown in so many ways and provided so many of us with an alternative to bloated dumb BigApp.
@@TheREAPERBlog yes, Drag and drop its not working anymore, but I managed to add the mp3 by clicking on 'insert' and then on 'media file', thank you for your help and congratulations on the great work here on RUclips, greetings from Brazil!!
MIDI Editor: Is there a way to not be able to zoom out and/or scroll out of the item range in the MIDI Editor? So to limit the MIDI Editor focus to the selected MIDI item? This is one of the things I really like about Ableton Live and would like to carry this behaviour to Reaper as well. I think keeping the takes and lanes make the over complicated/configurable DAW that is Reaper, even more complicated, but I guess people where used to Takes and they need to keep them happy too? I never used take markers, never had to really so less stuff to keep in mind.
works for me with the "view: zoom to content" action. I have that as a shortcut and when you have your midi editor open you can just hit the shortcut and have the selected midi item "stretched" to your window
@@joelbruning921 but when you zoom in and then zoom out you go outta bounds again...then you have to hit the key again. What I want is a way to set the "content" to be the max it will zoom out.
I have used fixed lane function in Reaper 7 and no matter what I do in 7.17 the next take goes to the first lane. For me this "do not add lane" change as the default makes my Fixed Lanes recording now unworkable for me. I just went back to 7.16. A perfect example of change for change sake when I prefer, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
just a comment... I use Reaper as a recording and mixing console and find these videos discussing features that I don't understand the use for or the reason they exist. I'm old but for example.. what is the use of a take marker that's different than any other marker??
in my case when I split an item, me Reaper shows only fade, but not crossfade.. eventialy it does crossfade, but usualy not.. does anybody have this bug?
I’m new to reaper and saw a video saying to install the LAME in the old version but this new version doesn’t say that. Can you please let me know how I can get it to record or direct to a video that shows how to install this new version?

Shame that we still don´t have a way to import / export AAF or OMG files. AAtranslator is so old and bulky. This unables reaper to get the space it deserve in commercial studios working with other daw
we don't need AAF in Reaper, people have been working on a better file type; DAW project, it will be able to transfer project from one daw to another that file format will be supported in reaper just like clap.
@@TheREAPERBlog If the 2nd track already has multiple takes that start in different places, and I use the Paste Items as Takes function, it won't paste the take from track 1 as one long take from beginning to end. It will keep pasting the Track 1 take from the beginning at each split. A simple example: Lets say I have 2 Gtr tracks. Gtr 1 is 60sec long and has 2 takes... Take One 0:00 - 0:30 and Take Two 0:30 - 1:00 Gtr 2 is one full take, 0:00 - 1:00. If I try to paste Gtr 2 as a new take onto Gtr 1, it doesn't paste Gtr 2 from 0:00 - 1:00. It pastes Gtr 2 0:00 - 0:30, and then pastes 0:00 - 1:00, meaning that Gtr 2 goes 30 seconds longer than Gtr 1. Obviously this is easy to fix when you only have 3 total takes, but in reality, I have 14 takes, all different lengths with a million splits and all I want to do is add this one full take to the bottom. Its hard to explain with words. I have a topic on the Reaper Forum General Discussion titled "Need help pasting takes, pls help!" It has pictures.
take markers are cool actually, I've been using simple action to convert imported item take markers into project markers: "Item: Import item media cues as project markers" :)
This is ridiculously and unnecessarily complicated. If I had to mess with all this while I was making music, it would just suck the life right out of whatever I was doing.
