How To: Deer Pose Modifications & Tips

  • Hey, ya'll! Today's video is another YOGA POSE TUTORIAL where I go in depth on how to get into different yoga poses. Today's pose is DEER POSE or MRIGASANA. This pose was requested by one of my subscribers during the 30 day challenge. I've been using this pose more often than I've seen other people using it so I thought this was a great idea to talk a little bit more about how to get into it. Deer Pose is a good hip stretch, hip opener, & back stretch. It reaches down deep & helps to stretch the fascia. We use pillows to modify the pose, so go ahead & grab a pillow just in case you need to modify. Mrigasana is more so used in Yin Yoga which is a style of yoga where you settle into poses for a couple minutes.     Just found your channel and I’m so excited to start incorporating your routines. There needs to be more yogis that represent our black/ indigenous folks in our communities. Something about this space feels much more safe and familiar to me than any other channel that I’ve watched. Thank you for your beautiful presence

    Is this pose strengthening the hip's internal rotation? I'm using this pose as a prep for cow face (Gomukhasana) pose.
