This tool-assisted speedrun, by Henrik Norgren (Wyster) and Simon Sternis (Scaredsim), aims to beat GoldenEye 007 in as little a time as possible. Unlike the previous rendition of this run, Aztec and Egyptian are now beaten. This resulted in a longer overall time, but every individual level was improved upon. Control had to be the greatest part of this. Non stop harrassment of Nat and so much fun with the guards. Freaking awesome.
not to mention the once in a lifetime hand grenades given. Definitely control was the most impressive level

I think 1440p is available on this video because the original file uploaded to youtube had that resolution and was re-processed when that resolution was added to the site. It has happened with a lot of videos.
1440p was not available in 1997 either. When emulators surpass the original system.

I need to upload my VHS tapes! We used to spend entire weekends doing speed runs. .. This game was my life as a teenager. Back then we didn't use "tool-assist" , just a lot of Mountain Dew and weed.
what I loved most about this game is that EVERYTHING blows up... even chairs
Remember guys, getting shot in the back and being pushed by the lethal percussive force of an explosion behind you... makes you run faster.

Actually he did. If you watch carefully in the beginning of the level, he opened the 2nd cell door quickly after he slapped the guard. I thought sort of similar when he didn't save the 5 out of 6 hostages in Frigate. But he did it so fast, it's hard to see :)

I believe the key was 'located' so quickly that it actually precedes the animation to show it; similar to completing an objective so stupidly fast that the message indicator has no choice but to display later... just a guess :)
I believe it is the weapon switch lag (combined with tiny space between wall and door). When you switch weapons the game lags a bit, and you can get through partially open doors by switching. This video uses that a lot, like a 12:10. He went from watch laser to unarmed, which is why the karate chop is already on its way and hits the guard

At first, Chuck Norris was suppose to be playing James Bond in the Goldeneye movie, but the camera couldn't follow him running around.
I believe it's because the frame rate gets a little low when you're looking forward and the game is trying to process the graphics. When you're looking down it doesn't need to process nearly as much.

You know this actually shed some light on what "routes" one would have to take to achieve the target times to unlock certain cheats for single/multiplayer. Overall worth the watch just to confirm that much.
Though for the Facility, isn't there a random chance as to where Dr. Doak appears?

If you use control style 2.4 you can shoot during cutscenes

i used to have this and i found it at play n trade, this game has so many good things about it
Perfect way to sum up a complete owning of the mission, James bond walking smug through an Egyptian temple holding a golden gun with that heroic posture, blaspheming the gods themselves :P

Interesting. For me the most stressful level was the aztec (haven't unlocked the egyptian yet). The weapons that the enemy use do soooo much damage! One hit from a moonraker or assault rifle takes up a 5th of your health on the easiest mode
18:55 - 20:40 is the result of a good gaming chair, a kick ass soundtrack and drinking G-fuel.
I don't mean when he's waiting, moreso when he's just running in the streets looking at the ground or in between shooting enemies while travelling.

Strangely enough, looking down and strafing at roughly a 45 degree angle makes Bond run faster.
For a TAS Goldeneye that dam time needs to come down. No pun intended.

there are some epic things to take from the entire video, since the exact calculated amount of shoot that can be taken and used for own advantage, to the insane aim and meaningful kills only, the box shooting for boosting, i don't even know if he let himself getting shoot to gain some speed ,shooting to the floor to cause some delay on guards reaction but i am not sure really, timed explosives, and quickest ways for getting an objective, even had time to show off, really fun video.
Saving the world, just a little favor for James, accomplished in the matter of half an hour.
Not very exciting when you stare at the floor the whole time. But I get it if it makes you move faster.
