- ( www.TFLtruck.com ) For between $85,000 and $90,000, you can buy either the Toyota Land Cruiser or its similar, luxury-themed cousin, the Lexus LX 570. Which one is a better buy?

Land Cruiser = Rambo
Lexus LX570 = John Wick
Perfectly said.
TheGomezIndustries no land cruiser jhon wick
FJ Cruiser = Michael Weston (Burn Notice)
4Runner = John Maclane (Die Hard)
Highlander = Jack Reacher with a gun to someone’s head
RAV4 = Betty White
I love this comparison
I've a Land Cruiser 100 that is twenty years old this year, having covered 200,000 hard farm truck miles with much towing. It has the hydraulic suspension and I bought used standard springs for it 15 years ago just in case the hydraulic system failed in the future. It still hasn't failed and works like new.
Same here...my FJZ80 just turned 285K miles, hard to even consider a Tahoe,Sequoia, or Expedition.
Land Cruiser - For really rich people who don't need to show off.
You’re so right!
Exactly !!
Very expensive, but VERY VERY GOOD!
THELOF1 such a cute car
The Land Cruiser looks much better than the Lexus. That big gaping maw of a front grill is ugly.
This guy driving the Lexus once said the Chrysler 200 was here to stay...Would take what he says with a grain of salt.
Smooth Operator That must be a typo. Did you intend to say you “would” take grain of salt? 🤔
Steve Printy Thanks I corrected it lol
I have a 2004 land cruiser , It has the hydraulic suspension and it never failed " 15 years".
是的。LX是空气减震悬架 这个不耐用 。
“10 years from now it will fail.” My LX is 13 years old and the suspension still works.
My ahc is still working 20 years later on my lx470
My 2008 LX 570 is running on top conditions. I have to lean toward Alex’s observation a little more! Cheer
he said when you raise the AHC to its max setting it get uncomfortable, yet the car uses coils springs, the suspension geometry is the same. He doesn't know what he's talking about. In another video he called it air suspension and mentioned it was also uncomfortable when you jack it up to the max height.
I have a 05 lx470. Everything works as should. Lexus suggests flushing the ahc system every 60k with toyota suspension fluid.
My LX suspension is still working flawlessly 16 yrs on!!! I love it and it’s build quality is amazing
If it were my money, I would buy the Land Cruiser.
Very expensive, but VERY VERY GOOD! You got to pay for what is the best!
Six of one half a dozen of the other.
I bought the lx 570. I’m everyday kinda guy. I just like leather and wood, not plastic
From what I can tell, the used lexus has much more depreciation compared to the Land Cruiser. So isn't the smart buy a slightly used LX? Getting the fancier version for less money.
Dustin Stout exactly, you can wait 3 years and pick up a CPO lx with 40k miles for $60-$65k. You then have a 3 year unlimited mile warranty.
I've been looking at prices between the two. There is more inventory of the lx570 than land cruiser. Also way better deals on the lx570. I personally like the 2014 , 2015 which was toned down but more refresh than the 2008 model. I believe the lexus lx570 has had 2 refresh since the first model for this gen in 2008. As far as the land cruiser 2016 and up is the best one !
Of the skinny jean kids would stop paying so much for them they wouldn't be over priced.
That is still true in 2022 by 6 to 8k. Really insane
Supply vs demand. Many don't know that the LX is a land cruiser in Lexus badging.
I've always wanted a Land Cruiser (used), but it is hard to find them. Came across a used 2011 LX570 in mint condition, one owner, 120K miles for $28.6K. Going to test drive it tomorrow...it is black and very beautiful. If it drives as nice as it looks, I'm getting it.
Any update on the car mate?
Thought the guy in the back was Engineering Explained for a sec
Nope
I'd take the landcruiser
If you can find one!
Lexus doesn't look rugged and off road ready or aggressive
It looks delicate
Land cruiser does look aggressive
I think the land cruiser looks tame. Everything has small proportions to it.
Add a 3/4” lift and some wheels and tires; would make the Toyota a beast!
Rehaans Car Info Agree. LC is read to work, LX if you’re a city dude who doesn’t want to go off road and just to make a statement. 1997 LX450, then I could roll that with the elockers. But I’ll stay with my 97 LC as it has elockers and all I need.
Aggressive enough to conquer any off roads.
LC all the way 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
No thanks, love my 1992 land cruiser, 238k miles still strong lol
Dennis Vu dang, how is the frame holding up? I just bought a 01 4Runner and I hope that thing last forever.
I prefer the LX, the problem I have with the Land Cruiser is it doesn't look the money, if I'm going to pay that much for a car it must look the part inside and out, the LX solves that problem.
Dee T | It's because the NA market only gets the range topping model with the 5.7. In other parts of the world, there are models that are significantly cheaper with different engine options and yet all of them look the same with just a few differences.
Dee T first world problem.....well a lower 200 model cost upward of $400k in my country
Sang Eeth yes your right, because I think in Japan there is a diesel option, I know Australia for sure get a diesel option.
Dee T
In GCC we have 5.7, 4.6 (the one in Lexus GX460), 4.0 v6, and diesel.
Sang Eeth How does it compare, he is talking about the looks and luxury, and they both have the same engine.
You should see how popular these Lexuses and Land Cruisers are in the Middle East in the GCC countries. Every rich man there has at least one or two land cruisers or LXs.
Sergiu Puscasu and Ferrari s and Lamborghini s
Sergiu Puscasu IKR. I'm wondering what they talking bout an everyday person. In Africa presidents get the LC200. It's a statement car here for the old, rich dudes.
Yep even in Nigeria every politician gets either a Toyota Land Cruiser or Lx
Sergiu Puscasu yup I got 1 too here in Kuwait 🇰🇼
Sergiu Puscasu in the Philippines too, toyota land cruisers and lxs are a staple to upper class people and politicians. Also LCs here do not look like theirs, we have a lot of body kits and big screens. So whether you got an LC or LX, you're considered rich.
Raising the suspension doesn't make it "un-driveable offload" and is in fact the reason its there. It's a temporary lift kit basically, the whole purpose for its existence.
I love Alex's reviews. His reviews are very in depth on his channel.
Brandi Kent I agree. 👍🏻 I read that he started his own channel because none of the others provided enough info.
Best ride ever on the Lexus. Only wish had a larger gas tank.
Peter Kim agreed
I agree with Alex only because I have the LX
Jay Tee lol
I love this ! You guys with ALEX .
My hydraulics on my 1998 LX470 still work. 20 years later they still work
Land cruiser looks more simple so I like it.
"Did you get a bigger RAV4"?! 😂🤣😂🤣
sp0rtbilly77 Alex has a point. Honestly if the two cars are the same price I would pick the LX over
Looks like a bigger highlander
@@weekenderwarriors1590 I LOVE the 200-series LC but I have to agree, I think this when I see them out sometimes. One small advantage to having the LX over the LC.
I’ve never heard of a normal person buying a Landcruiser
Just bought a used 2015 lx570 with 100k. Planning on replacing some things like bumpers and wheels/tires. Most comfortable ride I’ve ever owned. Even off road.
Roman, you should call Slee off-road in Golden. They are one of, if not the best Land Cruiser places around and see if they have a modified 200 series you could review. Ask for Christo. He is probably lurking around OX18 in Flag right now. They might even have a vendor booth. My Lexus 450 is loaded with their stuff.
Don Leamon I could roll the 450. Similar styles but not over the top like the newer models. I like that we can get elockers in our 1997’s but I guess ARB has the solution if not equipped.
"ITS A LEXUS IT WILL NEVER FAIL" says it all. Thanks Alex for being the honest sport as always even though I am not a Lexus fan but its so true those are almost PERFECT machines. The TFL guys are pretty arrogant and they end up making fun of cars mostly
They are idiots
Yeah not super bright peeps.
Hikmatullah why wouldn’t you be a fan of Lexus? Leather, wood, and sunroofs standard in an automobile is just insane! Plus reliability, and quality, you don’t get better than that. Lexus for life!
It is true, I have a 13 year old LX only things done to it over the years are basic stuff, oil changes, brake and rotor, timing belt, stuff in the maintenance guide.
They talk shit about cars that are not American I think they get paid for it
I daily drive and wheel an ten year old LX570 (2008 MY) and have zero issues with it. Other than adding some 34" Falken AT3W tires it is stock for now. Plastic steps will be coming off to make room for SLEE Sliders soon. Coming from a built FJ cruiser on 35's with front ARB locker and rear E-Locker I was expecting a huge downgrade in capability but these rigs in LX or LC form are shockingly capable. I do prefer the looks of the LC to the LX, but I love the AHC system on the Lexus.
Both trucks are nice and will last forever. However they both cost around the same price... LX570 wins.
Well, Hoovie's LX hydraulics haven't failed after 19 years so.
In India, it is like 2,03,420usd for TLC and 3,38,549usd for LX570.
Lexus grill looks like a Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactica.
No, it looks more like Optimus Prime.
Great Video! Both of my favorites together!
and Alex is right its the Preditor.
The Land Cruiser is the epitome of stealth wealth; some people don't want to gloat about how much money they make or have saved up.
To me, the LC is the superior choice if I had to buy between the two as a die hard Toyota fan. The suspension in the Toyota is more durable, and has KDSS, and smaller wheels for off-roading. Good luck off-roading in the LX with those 21 inch rims and no, the hydraulic isn't a substitute for the dedicated off-road stuff in the LC.
The LX is a great overall vehicle; and I love it, but in my perfect driveway, I would have an off-road SUV like the LC, and then a dedicated luxury one, specifically to me, Lincoln Navigator. Luxury on-road and luxury off-road!
But the lc interior isnt good as the lx
@@tortoru2827 That's subjective, I for one think the Lexus interior is uglier and too complicated the buttons are smaller and placed in weird spots and the touchscreen navigation joystick thing next to the shifter is just stupid to me. The land cruiser is set up to be less complicated and just all around a more intuitive user friendly experience where the lexus is just copying the trends of other luxury dashes like the BMW and Mercedes.
Land Cruiser
The LX with the hydraulic suspension has been around for 10 years without reliability issues.
Alex!!!
i’d rather buy or lease a range rover or the lexus because for $95k to $105k, you can get a fully loaded Lexus LX or a decent spec Range Rover. i’d never spend $85k to $95k on a toyota. you wouldn’t see where your money went
I sold my 1999 LX470 with factory air suspension 5 years ago - at 250k miles. The factory air suspension worked great still. While some people did experience issues, usually it was due to not flushing the fluid every other year - which I did. The new owner (to my knowledge) still has not had issues with it. Now at nearly 300k miles. Sorry Roman, do your research on that first - this aint no range rover lol
I'm picking up a 2009 LX 570 in a couple of weeks. Was looking for an LC but for my budget the miles and condition that I found were pretty bad. Came across the LX through a family member. Very well taken care off a but higher miles than I was initially looking for but the owner took great care of and has all the records. I'm excited to get it and drive across country then take it through its paces in CO!
In my country the Land Cruiser is available in many different trim levels the GX.R VX.R VX.S EX.R with a 5.7 V8, 4.6 V8, 4.0 V6
Land Cruiser any day.
Really Roman your arguments are very contradictory considering how much you love your peacocking G wagon which is 50% more the price with much less technology and sophistication then the LX. As far as the Land Cruiser I do like the hood and front grill as that has been updated but the side profile needs to step up to the sculpted new look of the front end.
Shots fired!
Great info, and great review. 👍
Woah Alex! Great to see him!
I would get both if money is not an issue. Lexus looks very sharrrrrp
“What’s wrong with your trust fund.” Lol
I think it just depends on what you want. I would pick the LX for the luxury even though I think the Land Cruiser is way better looking from the outside.
much needed review many thankx
Landcruiser is made with life of 25 years. All other cars are made for a life of 10 years. This is evident why land cruiser looks old school inside, infotainment, engine(no supercharged) and all small parts(try to do away with electronics as far as possible). If I need to take a trip from India to England, this is my only choice for such a long trip.
wow great video pls make more videos TFLnow with Alex and Autos
People with the money...
edit: Either way, people see you with a Land Cruiser, they'll think you're still rich, cuz Land Cruiser. Also the same with the LX 570.
Its a simple choice. For frequent offroad purposes get a land cruiser, for a ultra luxury experience which can last long more than twice of any escalade or navigator, get a lx570.
The LX is a Land Cruiser with luxury! They are both the same vehicle.
The lx570 really was made for the Middle East market
I agree with Alex that the LX570 is a luxurious version of the Land Cruiser, which, by definition, negates it being a copy. Bottomline is: Land Cruiser for practicality and utility; LX570 for luxury and better performance, off and on road.
Next video: Toyota Camry vs Toyota Avalon vs Lexus ES350😂😂
Finally, a proper reviewer on this channel.
I prefer the Landcruiser too. But if it were free I’d take either.
Passenger guy is the same type of guy who buys a Lincoln Mark LT when he needs a work truck.
We love you Alex! Thanks Roman!
I was confused about which one to buy, so I bought both. Love them
I rather get the lexus, just removed the size step for rock sliders and trim down the front bumper and install an off road with hidden winch. And finally put some 285/70 17 , and it would be better looking more comfortable just as reliable as the land cruiser.
This is the way.
As an owner of a 14 year old LX 470 I totally disagree with the hosts blinkered observations. The LX has infenantly more and better kit than the cruiser. From paint thickness to windows and real wood, better leather, better suspension, extra sound deadening etc etc. Facts Vs opinion. Stick to the facts mate.
gavin spring The Land Cruiser has more in common today. They are assembled/painted in same factory. Land Cruiser is inconspicuous.
INFENANTLY!
The leather in the LC is better than any competitor, are you claiming there’s a higher grade leather that’s put in the LX? I don’t think that’s possible LC Leather is next level!
How many miles and any issues with your AHC? Looking at a used LX470 to go with our LX570.
Do you have amplifier cutoff issue in the 470?
"Whats wrong with your trustfund" 😂🤣
The LX and the Land Cruiser are meant for different people. They both have their strong suits and I love 'em both. But if it were my money I'd go for the LX coz of the added posh nosh.
This is the odd case when the Toyota land cruiser has more brand value than its luxury cousin.
Land cruiser for what it is, is way too expensive. The Lexus has the looks and luxury to back up its value. Land cruiser doesn’t have the looks to have identical price as the lx. Lexus for more onroad driving, Lc for off-road driving
for what is it ? and what is it? the most capable SUV money can buy ?
cant you option the LS to a higher price than the landcruisers?
Joeys Cleaning Lady yes you can and from what I have seen the Lx starts around 89k the land cruiser doesn't start that high up there's a 5k difference in start up or Base prices. The Lx can go all the way up to 100-105k the land cruiser doesn't go further than 90k. There's a price difference and the Lx is the better vehicle for luxury and tech, don't mind these guys. Even the graphics and quality of the screen is top notch on the Lx and rivals anything else out there. The land cruiser graphics isn't on the same level. All they complained about is the use or how intuitive is it. That in my opinion is a personal and subjective experience. There are people who have stated it took them a few days to get a hang of the Infotainment system and after that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The ultra rich Arab princes in the Middle East would disagree with you. Besides, they're the same thing. But some prefer having "the original", so they stick to the Land Cruiser. And there are a lot of Land Cruisers in the Middle East.
The Land Cruiser has the history and reputation to back up its legendary name.
Love when we can agree to disagree... each are great in their own way
I rather get the lx 570 better looking more luxury, and still can take it off road with some modifications.
Did he say “ I would choose the hydrolic on Lexus over the landrover “ wow that hurt Alex soo much.....
LX all day for me, have 4 of them and love the refinement and luxury
In terms of sheer looks, the LX has it (For me), but to be honest, neither one really look like something you'd WANT to take off road. Most people buy something more off-road rugged, and not a tank (in terms of weight). Modern cars are really heavy, Luxury cars more so. Both of them are more suited for mall crawling and maybe towing a small trailer for camping on a camp ground. Even with air/hydraulic suspension lifts, most people will probably be using them for hauling family, on highways, lol. The old Land Cruisers, sure, they're just like Jeeps and Defenders, but the new one just looks like a mall crawler. Nissan has the same problem with the new Pathfinder, they make them glorified minivans instead of offroaders.
If you show up at the country club in your Lexus, they'll ask where your Range Rover is.
Roman got schooled by Alex. Bottom line is it comes down to luxury and nameplate.
Tully3674 also, why would someone buy a nearly $85K toyota instead of a $95K lexus, which is at the right price because it’s a luxury car and the largest one
No way!!
Om Patel They are basically the same vehicles.
What's bizarre is Roman loved the LX in multiple videos.
Agreed. Roman saying the LX hydraulic suspension will fail in 10 years is laughable. I have 20 years on the original in my 470 and it still works without any leaks or issues whatsoever. They really have the hydro suspension down to a science at Lexus
Well said Roman, love all your points made. I too am a normal kind of guy.
The grill is a deal-breaker for me
1 month keto challenge Alex and Roman. Changed my life
had a choice to make, Lc200 Sahara or a Lexus LX 570! but i chose Lc200 Sahara which is the top of the range here in Australia! its worth of having for a family car:).... ive always been a toyota fan!
exterior of a land cruiser and interior of a lexus now thats a dream come true
you miss a very importent point the land cruser screen tuch control more comforable and more practical but the versus lexus mouse screen control is really so risky when you drive in speed high road its bad idea
My money will always goes to Land Cruiser over Range Rover, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and etc.
I agree with Alex. It’s not a copy it’s about the extra luxury factor. Lexus for my wife. LC for me! Where I live I see both...all the time. Love the jump seats!! Both vehicles catch my attention when I see them no matter the age. I personally like but don’t care about having the extra luxury so would be happy to own the LC. It’s beautiful.
People call it the Land CRUSHER for a reason...it has balls of titanium.
Toyota Landcruiser has reputation of been the "King of the Road" outback Australia. With exceptional off road capabilities and it take you and the family anywhere wanted equipped with either 7 or 8 seaters and huge fuel tanks while Lexus cuts out this features. It's rock solid built which can last over 25 plus years and a high demand for after sale. It will not let you down or break down middle of no where. Not sure anyone will take their Lexus LX off road because price tag $$$$$$ and low approach angles.....
In my country, we get a Land Cruiser with Air Suspension and all the exact features of the LX. I don't care. I'd still choose the Land Cruiser
Land cruiser over any SUV.
True that....
4:17 No skid plates standard on this thing. Clearly not meant for offroad like the land cruiser
Nice eye!!!
Most of the concessions to luxury on the LX actually make it less like a Landcruiser in the sense that they reduce off road performance and reduce reliability. The adjustable suspension, for example. NO serious overlander has any use for this, and the reliability risk of air suspension makes it a no-go. LIkewise with the running boards and bumpers the kill off road ground clearance and capability. Toyota might have left some LC DNA in the LX, but making the LX merely *as capable* as the LC requires a lot more $$ and aftermarket parts.
Did you know that Toyota still makes the old school Land cruiser for the humanitarian market? Round headlights, tape player and a locking front and rear diff. They are shipped out of Gibraltar, they are amazing in construction. You can also get the "troop Carrier" version that has bench seats on both sides in he rear. I was in one in Indonesia during the Monsoon crossing the mountains. Trucks stuck for miles back yet our Land Cruiser climbed the mountain with no problem. This configuration is amazing off-road and beats anything available to the public.....sadly
Let's not forget the fact that he just shat on TATA lol 🤣
Although I love the banter between 2 people I respect, Alex wins this one in my opinion (sorry Roman). The Lexus is a higher end version of the Toyota. BOTH great SUV's, but the Lexus edges out the Toyota when it comes to luxury. If you don't care for luxury then go for the Toyota.
A used LX570 (with proper wheels and tires installed after purchase) is the way to go. Shopping for a later year J200, you will see that LX570s are noticeably more numerous and many thousands of dollars less expensive for better condition trucks compared to a Land Cruiser, as Lexus sold multiple times as many LXs compared to number of LCs by Toyota (year by year). The AHC works great on the LX, it just needs proper wheels and tires. We looked at several Land Cruiser 200s, but the true cost made the decision much easier for a clean LX570. Very similar vehicles and both are incredibly capable- You can't go wrong either way.
They are built in the same factory, ergo, they are the same, just one is rebadged. And thank goodness for that because we can't get land cruisers in Canada, so this a good vehicle to pick up used here.
Land Cruiser = Terminator T-850 Lexus LX 570 = John Wick
For aggressive look i go for land cruiser but for a rich and fancy look i go for Lexus simple is that
One of the best reviews. Thank you!
my 2014 LX 570 has 45k miles. never had PROBLEM. my GLS , X5 , Rover , all died at 1k miles. i live in the mountain . so i drive pretty extreme off road all day.
Still a great video, 5 years later,
