About:
The DualShock 4 (CUH-ZCT1) is the PlayStation 4's controller. It has several new features from DualShock 3. One new feature is a built-in two-point capacitive touch pad on the front of the controller, which can be clicked.[35] This allows the touch pad to represent multiple buttons, as demonstrated in the PS4 version of Elite Dangerous in which the four corners of the touch pad can be mapped to a separate clickable actions.[36] The controller supports motion detection via a three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer and vibration.[35] It includes a non-removable,[37] rechargeable 3.7 V, 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged while the system is in rest mode. It weighs 210 g (7.4 oz) and has dimensions of 162 mm × 52 mm × 98 mm (6.4 in × 2.0 in × 3.9 in).[37]
The front of the controller features a light bar containing three LEDs that, when lit in conjunction, cause the light bar to glow a variety of colors. Developed for PlayStation VR,[38] it can be used to identify players by matching the colors of the characters they control in a game, or to provide enhanced feedback or immersion by changing patterns or colors in reaction to gameplay.[39][40] An early example of this is displayed in the game Grand Theft Auto V; the light bar will flash red and blue when the player is wanted by the police, simulating the flashing lights of a police car. The light bar is also used in conjunction with the PlayStation Camera to judge the positions and movements of multiple players.[39]
The controller features several input and output connectors: a stereo headset jack (3.5 mm CTIA TRRS connector), a micro-USB port, and an extension port.[35] It can be charged using the console, using a dedicated charging station, or via microUSB using a standalone charger.[35] It also includes a mono speaker, like the Wii Remote, and is the second major controller in video game history to have such feature.[35]
The DualShock 4 features the following buttons: PS button, SHARE button, OPTIONS button, directional buttons, action buttons (triangle, circle, cross,[41] square), shoulder buttons (R1/L1), triggers (R2/L2), analog stick click buttons (L3/R3), and a touch pad click button.[35] These mark several changes from the DualShock 3 and other previous PlayStation controllers. The START and SELECT buttons have been merged into a single OPTIONS button.[35][37] A dedicated SHARE button allows players to upload screenshots and videos from their gameplay experiences.[35] The joysticks and triggers have been redesigned based on developer input,[35] with the ridged surface of the joysticks now featuring an outer ring surrounding the convex dome caps.
The DualShock 4's buttons differ slightly in functionality from the DualShock 3. Only the L2 and R2 triggers are pressure-sensitive, a change from the functionality of the DualShock 2 and 3. This is likely due to the fact that most games did not utilize these buttons as well as due to it not being used on competitors' controllers.
The PlayStation 3 is forward compatible with the DualShock 4 (originally only via a microUSB cable). Firmware update 4.60 for the PS3 added wireless connectivity; however, motion and vibration functions are not supported.[42] As the START and SELECT buttons are no longer present, the OPTIONS and SHARE buttons respectively replace them. The PS button does not work, thus requiring the console to be reset in order to go back to the menu.

@@LovingTechLife Dragon's Dogma - Dark Arisen. Steam had a sale on it about a month or so prior to the release of Dragon's Dogma 2 so I picked it up for like 5 bucks and it was the deluxe edition with all the DLC.
I had already started a playthrough and made it to the capital and was starting to finish up Act 1 when my XBox controller crapped out. I did NOT want to use mouse and KB to play that so I watched your tutorial and used my PS4 controller : )

You just need to connect with USB first
For anybody wondering why it wont connect you need to plug in your controller with your pc using a charger or some sort of cable. Then it will connect.

Hi @Amimocha! You just need to plug it back into the console with the cable and press the Home/ PS button.

Hey TeachMeThings! Bluetooth sounds faulty alright. Start by trying to update the driver. There should be a video somewhere about that. Then try open Bluetooth settings to see if other Bluetooth devices appear in an list. Then you’ll know at least the Bluetooth is working.
Hi @rngbhop . The Bluetooth Services might be disabled, you can check and enable them by pressing "windows + r" and you will se a small popup window there type "services.msc" when you open services look for bluetooth support service and see if it is disabled and enable it or set it to automatic.

Hey @zoroastri ! Yes once you connect your controller up, you can then set up remote play to play your PS4 game no worries.

Anyone who cant get it to show in windows. You need told hold share first then hold the PS button at the same time. The light will then start flashing blue, two times fast then pausing repeatedly. You can then find it in windows.

Hey Ed! Once it’s paired you should just have to turn the controller on and it’ll connect to windows since it’s paired and it’ll look for that device when it turns on…
I have this issue, I have done the connection perfectly and play some games, but everytime I want to play again, I have to unpair and pair again, because for some reason doesn't recognize when I press the PS button 😢

So if I buy the usb Bluetooth adapter is it as simple as plug and play to activate Bluetooth and connect the controller to the pc through it? Or any extra dets thanks
Hey Seb! Yep it’s pretty simple I had to do it again recently on another PC. Plugged in the USB adapter maybe checked that I had the latest drivers for the Bluetooth adapter from the website, but it works right away. You pair up controller or device or whatever. If you don’t have Bluetooth on your computer already.
@@LovingTechLifehey mate thanks for the reply, I ended up buying a Targus USB Bluetooth 5.3 adapter and plugged it in checked the drivers were up to date and they were but when I put the controller in pairing mode and try to add a device it won’t find the controller in my “add devices” option
Hey @sebm8845 Have you tried resetting the controller?
Locate the small reset button on the back of the control, next to the L2 domed button. Use a small tool to push the button into the tiny hole. Press and hold the button for 3 to 5 seconds.
I have a problem that i really cant fix, i plug in my controller as normal, all the steps are good, but then once its connected it just doesnt work.. but then i noticed that once its connected if i press the ps button one time it starts flashing as usual but then it connects to my pc for 1 second, but eitherway even if i connect it (its still connected right now) it doesnt work, its turned off and cant use it at all, i have no idea whats going on

Hi @motionoftheocean ! If you buy the game on Steam I think you should be fine with just the controller because Steam provides PS4 controller support assuming it acts like one. Alternatively an Xbox controller would be a safe bet too.

My controller wouldn't start flashing when I hit the playstation and share buttons together. Tried it a few times and it just stayed solid. Bluetooth wouldn't pick it up

@@LovingTechLife funny thing is, I don’t own a PlayStation. However after I made this post, I let the battery die. I’m not sure why but while the light was on and solid (but not connected to anything) it wouldn’t let me sync.

Hey Brook ! I’d start by updating the Bluetooth drivers on your pc, resetting the controller with the pin on the back and updating the firmware on the controller.

It work. U have to see the controller light, hold both button until it blinking faster then only the wireless controller will show in the list

Hey @Keeping1tReal ! My guess is that the controller is showing up as an Audio device and taking the audio over. I'd go back in to bluetoth & devices in setting and see if is appearing under the audio section and remove it. Let me know if that does it.

My Controller works as a mouth or sometimes on Steam but for some weird reason i can’t get it to work on my newly bought PS+. Do you have any tips?

Hey @slasher227 ! Just plug it back into the PS4 witha USB cable and press the Home / PS Button.
The light one isn’t on steam for ps4 controller anymore the setting are changed

PS3 controllers are set up differently so this method doesn’t work.
But can u connect a laptop to a ps4 ?like i want to use the keyboard of my laptop without buying a new keyboard .
Hi @Kyami_Fc . Not directly no, depending on the use case you could use the laptop to “remote play” over the network to the PS4. You’re meant to use a controller so I’m not sure what functionality you’ll get from the keyboard via remote play.
It works but i need help cuz now it doesn't want to connect to my ps4
Plug it into your PS4 with a cable and hit the PS/Home button and it will connect with your PS4 👍🏻

Doesn't work. Also doesn't work when plugged in. It does appear to charge though. I have Windows 11.

The Bluetooth Services might be disabled, you can check and enable them by pressing "windows + r" and you will se a small popup window there type "services.msc" when you open services look for bluetooth support service and see if it is disabled and enable it or set it to automatic.

When I clicked add a device and clicked the first one I couldn't see the "wireless controller" I saw nothing. How can I fix this?

Latency is awful, not worth it unless youre doing something very minimal
Hey @Kagarin05! Try the video below. In settings you can increase the polling rate and improve latency at the cost of less battery.

I got it connected but now how do I rotate my main buttons back to the right? Square is my new X button and its throwing me off really bad.
why are all of these tutorials for Steam? I'm trying to remote play and it's not responding to any of my button presses.
Hey @MizukiUkitake! Are you trying to use PlayStation remote play from your PC to connect to your PlayStation?
1. You could use this method (or similar from the updated version of this video I release more recently) then add the remote play app as a non steam game to steam and launch it from there which may enable control. I haven’t tried this myself yet though.
2. Use DS4Windows like in the video below. Again I haven’t tried remote play from my PC yet so not 100% on this.

Shortcut isn't the same for Windows 11, however the rest works just as in the video. Perfect :)
Controller flashes but is never found. Any ideas? Bluetooth is on and finds other bluetooth devices.
