I hope as a tribute to seb for winning the first overtake award, the fia gives all future winners of the award 1 million jellybeans.
An NFT of 1 million jellybeans, more like
Still a more costworthy investment than the Haas in 2021 lmao
Yes because if i tell you that this set of 1 million jelly beans is totally unique and that they happen to be worth a pound each, then this would be a significant financial reward

Marlboro McLaren of the late 80s is undoubtedly the most iconic livery of all!
Graham Chapman stares at you in John Player Special.
Debatable as the JPS black Lotus looked amazing. So did Rothmans Williams.
@@Jimorian😂😂😂😂
@@ThermicLight
Don't forget the West McLaren!
It's definitely one of the top liveries of all time but I personally think the john Player Special livery is number one. Damn that Marlboro Mclaren was sexy though
There’s been some amazing branding over the years. When I bought my first camera it had to be a Canon just because of the William’s early 90s livery. When I smoked I had rothmans royals again because of the Williams sponsorship. Quite powerful, you can see why they pay so much money to have it on the cars.

Marlboro is probably one of the most iconic sponsors in Formula 1. That amazing red and white McLaren from the 70's to the 90's and of course, Michael Schumacher's Ferrari with Marlboro branding on. Shame it's been banned now
I loved the black & gold JPS branding on the 70s-mid80s Lotus cars.
why shame? it's advertising that doesn't work on adults who already either are smokers or not... so it actually works best on youngsters. pretty nefarious if you ask me.
@@alveolate the simple fact that we're still talking about tobacco advertisements in 2022 means that their past investments to sponsor F1 earned them LIFELONG advertisement and exposure. When F1 makes throwback videos on past GPs you can still see Marlboro, Camel and other cigarette brands.
Agree 100% we are being punished because the UN wants to treat everyone like children
it's banned so that kids don't get affected and start smoking
All my adult life I wanted a Tag Heuer watch and I didn't know why. I started watching classic F1 races and I figured it out quickly.
When Williams won their first race at Silverstone in 1979, their main sponsor was Saudia Airlines with 'Fly Saudia' on the back wing. Before the podium ceremony Frank sent up a note to winner Clay Regazzoni telling him not to drink the champagne as drinking alcohol on prime time telly might offend the sponsor. Despite being the owner of a fledgling team, good old Frank's business sense told him what his priorities were.
F1: Let’s ban Cigarettes.
Also F1: Let’s go to Saudi Arabia while having “We Race As One” stickers on the cars.
Yeah no shit. But you know how hypocritical these elites are..
almost every one of these sport regulators are hypocritical af. FIFA made sanctions against Mexico for their "offensive" chants but organized WCs on countries where it's illegal to be homosexual...
@Arif Al Amin what's wrong with that?
Can you be specific? Russia is mass bombing civilians following their invasion. Russia should be banned for this act. Can you please tell the world why you think the US should be banned?
@Arif Al Amin I’m pretty sure most countries have been in conflict with other countries, for most of their history. Just look at the UK, France, or Germany, for example. The reason why Russia is not being raced at is because it is invading another nation for power, while the US’s recent wars were over terrorism and the protection of American citizens from these terrorists. Unfortunately, the war lasted longer than it should, but now the US has pulled back its troops. In your mind, the only countries that could host F1 are Sweden and Switzerland.
Sorry, but just calling other people “maniacs” just because they don’t agree with your viewpoint is pretty ridiculous.
JPS Lotus was iconic...
I miss the Jordan "BE ON EDGE" / Buzzing Hornets cars...
That's a clever marketing techniques I must say....
after the Marlboro McLaren, JPS is the most iconic cigarette sponsor in F1
I remember that car
That was used of Benson & Hedges in sponsorship was banned in 2002.
Be on Edge, buzzin hornets, bitten heroes...
4:05 more on that, the reason why Verstappen was given a 5 second time penalty so quickly for overtaking Kimi Raikkonen off track, was because the stewards didn’t want him in the complications of drinking on the podium because he was under the legal drinking age.
Not even close buddy. Verstappen overtook Raikkonen off the track, which was a pretty clear penalty, that's why the decision was quick.

Remember the genius Marlboro barcode in 2007?
So genius, they brought it back for 2010 as well.
the 2007 version was less obvious. the 2009-10 version was too obvious
Looks like the NASCAR logo has entered F1 with those bar codes
In Gran Turismo Sport, which I currently own, the Rothman's logo on my Porcshe 962C is removed because since the game was developed in Japan, they had their "anti-tobacco" laws. Same thing with the Lancia Delta HF Rally Car '92 and the Lancia Delta S4 '85 in Gran Turismo 4. The Martini logo was removed because of Japan's anti-alcohol laws.
A few people made the livery’s with the Rothmans and Martini logos, just gotta download them

I"ve read this article on the website, so crazy to see it in a video format, great article, great video, great channel, not a fanboy thought
F1: Uses Marlboro livery cars all the time because they are iconic and instantly recognizable as F1.
Also F1: Bans Marlboro liveries.
I think Marlboro and Rothmans liveries have become so iconic in motorsports that a piece of history is lost by banning them. It's not like most people don't already know cigarettes and alcohol are bad
yellow jordan and benson&hedges is also super iconic.
williams' compaq
The Martini livery too. Not cigarettes, obviously, but still just as iconic
but what would be the point of sponsoring a team for "nostalgia" when the side effect of doing so is encouraging harmful consumption of products they sell
edit: he changed it, he said he wanted to bring the sponsors back for nostalgia
@@WETiLAMBY it's always the people who don't watch f1 the ones deciding what is allowed and what not
One that i remember most is the yellow Benson and hedges of Heinz Harald Frentzen and the black and gold JPS livery, both not featured in the video
Worth pointing out Lucky Strike were involved with the then 500cc, now MotoGP, Suzuki team in the early 90s. As was, hilariously enough, Rothmans as welll. Was there a series Rothmans didn't at least try to end up in?
Also no. I instantly thought of the Arrows for some reason and then in quick succession, the Jordans, with the hornets and snakes. That team had some hella talented artists working for them. Gotta love the Bitten and Hissen, and the Buzzin Hornets one too.
Also, yes, Red Bull was, for a time, banned in France too. Kind of awkward for RBR too..and I swear France had some of the best ways to get around the ban on cigarette adverts. The R ? and such.
Also, yes, the vid/article didn't say it but you can take a wild guess why the Middle Eastern nations look down on alcohol. it's not just limited to F1, however. Motorcycles have very, very prominent Coronoa (ironic) branding, the Mexican beer before they change their name and they'd do what Gaulois did. The Go!!! (which is another fantastic way to get around the restrictions too come to think of it. made the team look quicker than theyy were. Hello late 90s Prost. Backmarkers with a fantastic livery and that one GT team running a Viper in the early 00s, or was it a Corvette?)
Also those rules applied double so to F1 videogames too at the time, too
Rothmans was the title sponsor for the Honda factory team in the old 500 cc from 1981 to 1993 I think. Repsol, the current sponsor, replaced them in 94 when they got the Williams sponsorship. Marlboro sponsored Roberts Yamaha (the de facto factory team for Yamaha for many years) and, later, Ducati.
Fun fact the Heineken sponsorship also shuts down ANY motorsports sponsorship deals in the USA. This includes their sister brands as well such as Dos Equis
Nobody cares and it isn’t fun
cant wait for ferrari to paint the wheel covers to look like the malboro logo when spinning in racing speeds
I don't think that will happen, their deal ended last season. Hence why there was no mission winnow logo in the car presentation
What an excellent informative video, cheers 👍
What about the "WEST" McLaren?
They put 'East' on instead and then the drivers names 'Mika' and 'David' in the same font, in the same oval using the same livery.
Great video as always
Jordan ran Buzzin Hornets and Bitten Heroes in place of Benson and Hedges at the US GP at Indy for a couple years. I have a Buzzin Hornets die cast.
Was waiting for Uralkali to be mentioned lol
I'd never thought you'd mention the term NFT lol 🤣
Although Penthouse sponsored Heskith in the 70s IIRC adult entertainment companies have been banned since the late 90s when Tyrrell was blocked from running cyber erotica branding. (which led to the Xena ads as Five were part of the same group at the time)
Jordan, team with their yellow colour. Running penthouse.
A small suggestion to you guys, your black or dark greyish background is very similar to the youtube's dark mode black background, I suggest you guys should change that dark greyish colour with the youtube's black colour background...it will look so slick! Just give it a try once. Love your videos

I’m surprised the old West sponsorship didn’t get a mention, with the lettering being removed at some races, but the logo still visible!?!
remeber how cool was the lancia delta sponsor by Martini?!

As a kid I always saw or thought I saw Hieniken as sparkling water or something
Ferrari (Marlboro)
McLaren Mercedes (West)
Renault (Mild Seven)
BAR Honda (Lucky Strike)
Those are main tobacco sponsors of F1 teams when I grew up as a kid watching F1.
On top of that, there's also Williams (Hewlett-Packard/Compaq), Jordan (Benson & Hedges) and Jaguar (HSBC) as well as now defunct Arrows team (Orange).
I don't smoke but the Marlboro logo in senna's car is just legendary up to this date
Did we forget SportPesa being the title sponsor for Racing Point?
Ah yes, crypto in F1, the pinnacle of sponsorship. At least we don't have RAID: Shadow Legends on the Red Bull yet.

SportPesa was title sponsor of Racing Point in 2019, wasn't it a bet company?
I used to like when Busweiser were replaced with Sea World and Busch Gardens theme parks as they used to both be owned by Ansheiser-Busch
Marlboro had such a presence in f1
in motorsport overall. The most well known (and likely only) racing in the world where they never had a car was Nascar, because Winston signed as a series sponsor with exclusive rights, only RJ Reynolds brands could be advertised (that was their move when the FCC banned their direct ads on TV after they made an ad with Fred and Barney from The Flinstones). Their presence was huge because they backed major teams that won almost all the time. McLaren in F1, Penske in Indycar, Peter Brock in the old ATCC, I think Toyota in group B rally, Yamaha in the old 500 cc.
Marlboro was legendary in Every Motorsport
I think the black and gold JPS Lotus livery is one of the most iconic tobacco sponsorship ones in F1,
Heineken actually promotes the 0.0 alcohol at F1 races so technically it’s not alcohol even though the brand is synonymous with alcohol.
I’d like to see anti tobacco advertising like “DEATH, CANCER or TUMOUR” that would go down a treat.. lol
Most cigarette brands, especially Marlboro, made more profit in F1 till the EU plus US banned tobacco advertisement.
"What surprise you the most?"
No mention of fire arms
3:11 Whats the name of the programm on the man's right shoulder ?
Even the safety car is sponsored by Croudstrike
Speaking of tobacco and cigarette advertisements, didn’t the Colin McRae subaru have a cigarette ad that they had to take off?
Yep. State Express 555. They replaced it with three commas in places where the advertising was banned.
@@Quaker763Or bananas as well wasn't it?
Found an old CD of the (admittedly awful) Rally Challenge (not to be confused with the much better and later released Rallisport Challenge), which had a lot of 555 branding in it, up to and including, a biography of the company, and shots of the 555 sponsored Scooby for menu backgrounds, now granted when you had the menus up you couldn't see a lot of it
I had no idea what Mission Winnow was.
It used to be the same with Nascar. Home Depot was Tony Stewart. Dupont was Jeff Gordon. Mr. Goodwrench was Dale sr. Budweiser was Dale Jr. Lowes was Jimmy Johnson. STP was Richard Petty. Now these cars are sponsored by companies that are not that well known.
How about a Rusty Wallace/Kurt Busch/Brad Keselowski's Miller Lite and Sterling Marlin/David Stremme's Coors Light has now banned in NASCARs Sponsorship.
I loved the way Jordan got around tobacco sponsorship banning at some circuits when they were sponsored by B&H by putting Buzzin' Hornets on their cars. I smoke B&H and still sometimes call them Buzzin' Hornets to this day.
Carlsberg get around alcohol sponsorship bans by substituting their company name for the word 'probably' in the same font. I know it's the first word in their company slogan, so there is some sense behind it, but it's still an odd word to see being used like that.
And the Mild Seven / Team Spirit.
You have excellent taste in cars to use as random examples Matt.
Senna’s car and JPS with Lotus was iconic and shouldn’t be censored.
The fact tobacco hasn't been fully banned baffles me
Capitalism at its finest
and alcohol, and gambling, ...
And crypto….
Shady stuff pays more, so that's it
Yeah, lets just ban individual choices and personal sovereignty next. Clearly, people cant decide whats best for them on their own, and need a leader like you Kenzie
Let me tell ya somethin', when I was young, I had no clue that those were smoky brands at first, but now it all makes a context have a meaning
3:11 velo and vuse isn't tobacco product. That's why they still allowed to show the sponsor.
The point that stuck out for me was at the end.
Vettel with the most overtakes award.
Remember back in the 2010s when the cynics used to say “Vettel can’t race wheel-to-wheel” and “Vettel can’t overtake”
They look very silly right now
But the velo on mcl is snus
Also old McLaren cars had the West logo on them.
I thought the mission winnow sponsor was part of the actual livery instead of it being a sponsor
Wait: Is it mission WIN NOW or mission WINNOW?
Coz I always assumed the former.
Bro I always thought Mission Winnow was a Ferrari hashtag or something to show they’re fast 😂
hope they ban NFT advertisers soon, not a fan of having ponzi schemes plastered all over the sports I watch
Bring mission winnow back the logo was amazing on the ferrari
The best bit is the Ferarri red now is soooo much better than previous years
The alcohol one suprises me a bit
I'm really surprised gambling sponsors aren't banned
JPS comes into my mind Gold on black, this was the most beautifull car of all
Lol I like your WTF1 paint on the racer. I think it fits perfect :-)
They have taken away the cool cigarette sponsors, in race refueling, v8, v10 and v12 engines.
Yeah they have, and F1 has never been better
Singha on AlfaR car is a beer company, correct me if im wrong
In Abu Dubai alcohol isn’t banned.. You can buy it but are only allowed to drink it in your home
peroni ( aston martin's sponsor) is an italian beer
The Spanish word “Estrella” is basically pronounced the same way as the good old “‘straya” haha
I thought it was against the law to show the Eifel tower at night because their lights are copyrighted.
not surprised at the absurdity of the advertising laws in any country now.
2:43 Malboro??
The Williams martini was one of the best liveries
If you grew up in the 80's, when you see a pack of Marlboro Red's even today, you see F1.
Don't forget the "Durex" Surtees TS19 back in 1976 for the British Grand Prix
Still can't believe how they manage to get a tampon brand to sponsor the team! 😄

@@sebastianpeheim8851 does Durex even make Tampons?
Fun fact in '76 Murray Walker was under strict instruction not to mention Durex on the BBC, yet by '88 when they sponsored bikes he basically had to do a safe sex promo before every race.
Jordan, being sponsored by penthouse nude magazine for men and had women in racing suits unzip all over the cars and drivers lol
Must have been the Australian sticky tape branding.

I was just about to pop off about smoking being banned
Smoking been banned for years. I always hated seeing Smoking brands.
I get the push to make Tobacoo advertisements illegal as well as alcohol but both are major sponsers in racing history. TBH, I can see Marijuana going legal and potentially Malboro branded joints being a thing.
Would the Vuse sponsor on the mclaren be banned since vape is a tobacco product
The barcode was cooler looking than the actual Marlboro logo
4:24 even that clip is illegal lmao
This is unrelated but the best racing stripes ever designed are Martini's ones.
Mission winnow is a really good looking sponsor on the ferrari
Just saying, before it was bar you can trace them back to Tyrell
I'm surprised that there was no F1 car with Brazzers or "Oranger facebook" logo.
