Likely the spring clip got out of position? Or Possibly there’s something blocking the head rest from going fully down? Or maybe even the clips fell. It’s difficult to get those clips back into position. And difficult to film. There’s so little space. There’s slots in the metal rods that the spring clips have to set into. The slots are on just one side of each rod. If I were to fix that, I’d study the other good seat’s installation without removal to see how it’s supposed to look, then go back to see what’s wrong.
Just go back to tesla and tell them it was always like that. You leaned the seat all the way back to take a nap and then headrest slid forward. They'll fix it for you....warranty 😜

The headrest is too far forward for some people. Most of the people who reach out to me are a bit taller, wider, heavier. One or all of the above. I'm tall and large in skeletal structure, so for me everything I say is likely to be exacerbated. Additionally, when I buy a helmet or a sized hat it's always XL or larger. This is the first car I owned that doesn't have adjustable headrests. It's the first car I've ever owned that really hurts me on longer drives. The headrest (and the entire seat) appears to be designed with a smaller person in mind. For me, the headrest is pushing my head forward and downwards too much. That in turn causes my back to form more of a "C" shape. That puts more pressure upon the discs and the lower spine and nerves It also tires my neck. I just can't relax fully in this seat and it hurts a lot. So for me, I had to modify the seat bottom cushion so my wider hips fit and the seat absorbed more of the bumps in t he road instead of sending the shocks to my spine. And I had to move the headrest backwards so that my head is no longer pushed downwards and forwards. I also added some foam in the upper back seat. Now, in spite of my size, I can sit very comfortably. I no longer have back pain, neck pain, hip pain, leg pain. I just returned from an 8 hour round trip vacation. No problems! Great reminder. I was one of them.. it took a while, but luckily nothing is "broken" when the pins get loose. You have to push the upper cushin as down as you can, and then insert the pin back while holding the cushion down. This helps to see where the pins will go. Then get one side in, and gently force the other pin over to the other side. The resistance will make it click in place when the pins are located correctly. Use the other head rest (unless already removed) as a indication to where the pin is supposed to be.

I haven't done that as yet. You can gain a lot of access by simply removing the back cover. First remove the headrest. Pull it out. That releases the black plastic cover in the back. You'll be able to see a lot of the seat from there. Be careful. There's an airbag in the wing on the door side.
