    Do you have rattles in your Tesla doors? Have you been able to stop the rattling?

    • @JamesKirk1988
      @JamesKirk1988 3 года назад +3

      Yes, and somewhat. My '21 M3P passenger door rattled loud, and I tackled mine after watching the video. It's better, but there's still a quiet rattle near the woofer. May have to go back in, and eventually plan on doing the driver side. Just be careful with the plastics, they scratch/scuff easily.

      There was an annoying rattle in my brand new 2021 Model S refresh from the time I drove it off the lot. Took several weeks to get a service appointment but I didn’t want to take the door panel off of the brand new car. The service rep told me the speaker in the door is frequently loose and that was likely the cause. Sure enough, that’s what they found. If I develop any more rattles over time I will now be willing to tackle it myself. Thanks!

      I got it. My problem was with the pipe that contains the iron cable that enables manual opening. It's covered by foam and has moved. Fixed with a bit of american tape.

    Very helpful. I added lots of foam inside my door panel and got rid of the rattle. However, I also had a small creaking noise when door panel would move a little, so I just ended up ordering some replacement door trim retainer clips on Amazon and replaced all of them on the door and that fixed the noise. The issue seemed to be caused by part of the clips remaining inside the holes and I guess the clips would not correctly clip into place.

    I'm not sure if 2021 Model 3 was different, but there a hook along the top of the panel that won't come come out by force. I believe the proper way to take off the door panel is to take the clip from the side and bottom first then lift the door panel up to take it out. Just pointing out there for people that try to pull it from the top by force.

    I have a driver door rattle that I was only hearing at higher speed (say 80 km/hr and up) (driver door or b pillar maybe). I can hear it really well if I stick my ear right up against the pillar. Anyway Tesla service was out and spent about 2.5hrs and said he added some insulation and adjusted the glass but I think it’s worse now. I drove for about 2 hrs afterwards and can start to hear it at 50-60 km/hr now and up. This is on a 2022 M3P I’ve had for 2 months now. I noticed the door trim at the bottom seems to have a lot of play it it now like they broke a clip or didn’t clip it in properly maybe. I’ve got the dash speaker or speaker grill buzzing on bumpy roads too but not all the time.

    Great video! In the description, you linked to a Model X clip. Do you know if that clip actually works for 3 & Y panels? It looks quite a bit different.
    On another note: when you mention "direct to paint" vs. "sound insulating" clips around 5:25, they're actually both the same exact clips. It's a two-part clip. When you remove the door panel, the "anchor" half of the clip sometimes stays in the door, which is what you're pointing at when you refer to the "sound insulating" clips. Where you see a "direct to paint" clip hole, look at the corresponding clip on the panel, and you'll see that the "anchor" half just came out with the panel.
