Great job and great idea! I think it actually looks better with 1/2 trim exposed. Gives it a nice, finished look, plus you completely stopped the rattle!
Had to do something similar with my GLI... The center air vents, right above the climate controls, emitted a rattle over bumps unless I pulled up on them slightly. So I ended up sticking a piece of foam between the climate control trim area and the underside of the vents, and it worked pretty well! Sometimes the noise comes back if I hit a pothole hard, but it's not constantly rattling over coarse pavement like it used to. It does feel great. Now if I could solve the buzzing sound from my back seat I'd be truly happy. lol
Nice! Is there plastic trim on the back seat thats hitting something? Maybe its the frame around the backside that locks into the portion of the car. Maybe thats plastic on plastic
Omg i have the same issue but with my new wrx 2022. Still can't pinpoint exactly where it is but hopefully when I get my oil change, I can have them take a look at where it is happening and fix it. Ruins the driving experience a little bit because the only imperfection I feel I should be hearing is anything BUT the car.
Thanks for this tip! I knew I’d waste my time taking my Rav4 to the dealership for this issue. I’ll definitely try this because I hear rattling from my driver side passenger door and it sounds like sunglasses are shaking in the cup holder. I’m hoping since yours is also a Toyota it’s a brand issue and the door panels are similar. I never had rattling noises with my Mazda CX5 🤦🏾♀️
Dude, what?! I've been dealing with a rattle in m my door for ages and never even thought it might be coming from the outside of the trim. Sure enough I checked after this video and realised there's just enough of a gap in one section for it to rattle, and sure enough as soon as I shoved a piece of paper in there the rattle instantly stopped. Going to buy some of that foam tape now and see if I can shove it into the gap without removing the trim completely. Thank you!!!
I have a Scion Xb does the exact same thing. Expensive or inexpensive like mine, I thought I was the only one who held my knee on the door lol. Thanks Brian!
As is usually the case, a little piece of foam as the isolator remedies rattles. I can't imagine how many points of a car could lead to rattles, it's almost infinite. If you asked me what I'd pay to have a basically guaranteed rattle free car, here's my metric. Fixing after the the fact takes much longer due to disassembly. If there was a tester that could isolate all rattles, then chalk that up to R&D, let's say adding extra padding to a car is 20 hours at 150 per hour. If we could pay $3,000 to have most panels isolated in a way that basically prevents all rattles, I'd pay it. There's no option for this, but what's the nominal cost to make a car rattle free? I feel like the majority of people don't care about things like this, but for the few of us, what is it worth to have a rattle and noise free car? Up to today, I've paid 75K for a car and it's not noise free.

Thanks for the video mate. Got a 2020 Camry last year , spent $30,000 and I'm having the exact same noises as the ones in your video. Shame as its a new car. Noise is coming from doors and B-pillar. Will try this solution, and will apply it everywhere inside the seatbelt tensioner area.
Just hear a lot of complaints about this and was surprised since I thought it was mostly a BMW interior! My M240i has nearly 45k miles and it's quiet as a mouse still inside the car. Glad to report the build quality and noise levels in the RS3 are just as good and I don't have any rattles! How about your RS3?
Yeah no complaints in the RS3. Solid car! My current Supra makes no rattle tho. So maybe just the 2020's had a loser fit on the door panel. Current one is 2023

Great fix! I bought a brand new Octavia that came with squeaks and rattles. Very nice video but I would like to point out that many people who have faced this problem have attributed it to the door rubber beading rubbing and not the door panel plastic rubbing as has been mentioned in your video, any insight into it as to how you pinpointed the squeaking noise coming from door plastic and not door rubber beading
Possibly. But it's more of a pain in the butt to go to the dealer and tell them to fix it. Mechanical issues are more of what's covered under warranty. @@BrosFOURRSpeed nice! From the link you posted it looks like it has 3 rolls for a total of 50 feet so should be plenty lol. You got the 1/2 by 1/8” one?
Im confused. The plastic rattles because vibrating metal make it so. If you put alubutyl mats to sound deaden your door, it shouldnt vibrate anymore, thus no more rattle. Along other benefits of course.
The plastic door panel vibrates lightly on the metal door. So this foam strip in between them eliminated the rattle sound. The car itself is very well sound insulated and doesn't need sound deadening panels. Just eh plastic rubbing on the door
@@BrosFOURRSpeed always brain! I'm learning alot about this car from you're vids as I'm in the 3rd week of owning it ( they didnt fix it on the 21s) & that rattle gave me ocd. Shocking that ANY cars, especially a performance car in this day and age, has ANY rattles or squeeks. Old 90s performance cars...yes, modern stuff...NO
I'd disagree! I've owned two Supras now, my brother will be on his 3rd tacoma next year, and my dad has owned two 4runners, cabin quality is great. Aside from this minor issue that's been the only thing between all the Toyotas we've owned and it was an easy fix.
Yea they do 😅. It’s the exact same piece. Give it time tho. And it only rattled on bad roads. So if you have nicer roads, the poor quality might never show through
yea i have a 2021 doesn't rattle yet only 1800 miles now though and i hit some rough spots on my daily commute. What annoys me most about the door is the grab handle/coin tray to close the door it is made out of plastic and creaks every time you pull the door closed. I absolutely love this car though.
@@purpskurp8737 Yeah mine creaks too. If I could get the whole door panel off. I’m sure some silicone glue around the backside of that handle could help.
The door panel itself is just plastic. The padded part is just on the arm rest. It's still all just cheap plastic. 2020 and 2021 have the exact same door panels. Give it time and depends on the roads you have. It might start
Thanks for the video! My brand new 2023 Toyota Corolla SE has been annoying me since day one with rattles and creaks on the passenger front side, somewhere in there. I dont want to take it to the dealer cause they might make things worse, who knows, by taking pieces apart. No thanks!!!
The link in the description takes you to this size: (1/2in * 1/8in * 50FT). It's not the same one used in the video. I just found out the hard way. Unfortunately I can't say which one actually is the correct size.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I guess everyone can choose weather to take your word for it or mine then. No big deal. If I had to guess though, based on what I received and what I see in the video, then comparing the two…I'd say the size used in the video is (1in * 1/8in * 33FT). Not the one from the affiliate link in the video description (1/2in * 1/8in * 50FT). Which I did use BTW. The confusion about the size used in the video is no big deal. Yeah, I showed how the rattles went away doing this. And judging by the comments of owners who also tried this and solved their squeaky panels, I'd say it works well
Things I hate - a rattle snake - a babies rattle - and rattle can spray. I just put foam tape in my ears 👂...seriously tho good tip with the foam tape...hashtag #stoptherattle btw cheap plastic I blame Toyota. bmw only uses fancy expensive plastic lol
haha yeah these are some of the cheapest feeling door panels I've ever seen in a car. The foam tape completely changes the car! So much more solid sounding now!
My 13 Rav 4 has this problem everywhere. A result of cheap ass interior. Mechanically good cars but garbage interior. Honda interiors much better. Will go with another Honda next time.
In the video? Not sure what that sound was if anything, but this solved the door panel issues I had. I never heard anything in real life from the doors after doing this
Aside from the panel squeaking, the interior on the Supra is very nice. Just like a BMW. After this fix, had no complaint. Better then a built by Toyota interior tho.
This is crazy, I've owned cheap cars most of my driving life I finally got enough money to buy a luxury and expensive car and man does that thing rattle. I never had any rattling issues with my cheap cars. I get so annoyed sometimes that I go back to driving a cheap car instead. You're not being petty at all, it's a major major issue.
Well there are no cars that compete with the Supra that can offer this exact driving experience. So a $10 roll of tape seems to be a good way to solve the issue and enjoy this car
Time will tell. Supra has been proven to make crazy reliable power. And they handle amazing! These B58 engines can make over 700 HP and still be reliable. So once the Z is out and tested we'll be a blessing to see if it's actually good. It doesn't have a GTR engine. It has the Infiniti twin turbo engine. That motor is nothing compared to the B58 or a GTR motor. So we'll have to see if it can actually handle power.
So glad I'm not the only one annoyed by even minor rattles! Great video!
haha yeah! They bugged me so much!
The rattles drive me crazy too.. my wife thinks that I am just crazy but apparently no! Thanks for the video!

Is it the headliner? Could maybe pull it off and reattach it with some sort of rubber bushing
Thank God I'm not the only one
Yeah this was annoying!
Anyone tried this with a Tesla model 3 to reduce rattles?
I'm sure it could work!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed fair enough.
I have this too but scared to take the door off
It's easy! Just take your time and dont yank anything too hard lol
You're a God. Thank you!!!
lol glad you enjoyed the video! Worked great!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed always brain! I'm learning alot about this car from you're vids as I'm in the 3rd week of owning it ( they didnt fix it on the 21s) & that rattle gave me ocd. I have a c300 that makes a louder sound on the dash & it's been me driving me freaking insane. Looks like I have to pop that thing open at some point when I do the supra doors. I look forward to more mod vids🙌
Glad to help! As long as you can find where the rattle is this can definitely work!
Saved. My wife complains about a rattle on her side.
This should help! The link I posted in the description is the exact product I used. Comes with a lot!
Shocking that ANY cars, especially a performance car in this day and age, has ANY rattles or squeeks. Old 90s performance cars...yes, modern stuff...NO
Yeah a lot of new cars have cheap plastics
Great video! I have a new Toyota Highlander that makes similar noise. Toyota cabin quality is very cheap. Not worth of buying
I'd disagree! I've owned two Supras now, my brother will be on his 3rd tacoma next year, and my dad has owned two 4runners, cabin quality is great. Aside from this minor issue that's been the only thing between all the Toyotas we've owned and it was an easy fix.
I get the same sound with certain bass frequencies in me doors
Oh yeah. This helped very well
2021’s don’t have that cheap plastic door panel and don’t rattle. At least mine does not.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I mean it’s plastic underneath a layer o thin padded vinyl material. I assumed you meant it’s all plastic.
The door panel itself is just plastic. The padded part is just on the arm rest. It's still all just cheap plastic. 2020 and 2021 have the exact same door panels. Give it time and depends on the roads you have. It might start
Allah ( God ) bless you bro
yes
Thanks for checking out the vid!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed welcome bro 🧡
Does dis work on other cars 🙄
For sure! Universal fox for rattles!
Thanks for the video! My brand new 2023 Toyota Corolla SE has been annoying me since day one with rattles and creaks on the passenger front side, somewhere in there. I dont want to take it to the dealer cause they might make things worse, who knows, by taking pieces apart. No thanks!!!
Hopefully this helps!
The link in the description takes you to this size: (1/2in * 1/8in * 50FT). It's not the same one used in the video. I just found out the hard way. Unfortunately I can't say which one actually is the correct size.
That's what I used in the video...
I still gained useful information so I actually used the affiliate link, but usually I'll go outta my way not to lol.
@@Nain1993 This video is several years old. The product could have changed. But I still have the rest of the roll. And it’s 1/2in wide and 1/8th inch tall. It’s literally $9. So it’s very cheap. And works. But when you click the link you can scroll through the various options and pick a different size
I think you're right actually. I'm wrong. My bad. (I'm not being sarcastic) @@BrosFOURRSpeed
@@Nain1993 Obviously I’m right 😅. Why would I lie about what size tape I used? lol it certainly works well
Dose this actually work
Yeah, I showed how the rattles went away doing this. And judging by the comments of owners who also tried this and solved their squeaky panels, I'd say it works well
thank my exhaust for brining me to this video lol. rattle rattle
lol this worked very well!
Sucks that its so cheaply made when you’re paying that much money for it. It should come factory with those tape seals.
Yeah even nice cars have cheap parts
Your Toyota Supra is Faster Than a VW Golf R
Obviously
Haha yeah it is! Golf R isn’t that fast of a car overall
@@TylerSL92 haha for sure!
Bro I will try this with my F82 M4 and report back if this solved it. And yes, my car is more expensive than yours and still rattles 😒
It's unbelievable to me that Toyota didn't do this from factory.
I don’t think ever car will do this, but yea would be nice.
There goes any chance of good lap times now after you added all that extra weight.
Hope you’re joking..
My 13 Rav 4 has this problem everywhere. A result of cheap ass interior. Mechanically good cars but garbage interior. Honda interiors much better. Will go with another Honda next time.
Whatever works best for you!
When you fix the rattles, you hear the slightest of the squeaks lol.
This was the only noise the car made. Once fixed, car didn't make any sounds aside form the good ones
lol, you should hear my truck
hah yeah? This helped a lot!
i use an easier technique, i just put the music on high volume..lol..
haha thats one way to do it ;)
Man i need to order 10 of those rolls, i got a fiesta st from 2015. There is nothing thats not plastic😂
lol good thing this stuff is cheap!
@@BrosFOURRSpeedlucky me hahaha
my 2015 tacoma was built the same way, but 4x worse
Oh wow! This can definitely help!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed ill have a bottle on monday so we will find out, ive used some aerospace products before or boat cleaner, nothing works
@@chaselord3986 the foam tape seems to work
Squeaky cars feel old. For me at least.
True! Glad I could fix this so easy
Need to find 1st. I gave up
Did you perhaps look in the description of this video to see that I have this product linked from Amazon? That'd be a good first step to find it ;)
Still heard a creaking sound
In the video? Not sure what that sound was if anything, but this solved the door panel issues I had. I never heard anything in real life from the doors after doing this
As much as I love my Lexus, no German car I've owned had this kind of an issue... drives me insane.
Yeah it's so annoying hearing squeaks!
@BrosFOURRSpeed Toyota needs to step up their interior quality game... our cars are literally 2 years old and rattle, imagine them after 5-10.
Aside from the panel squeaking, the interior on the Supra is very nice. Just like a BMW. After this fix, had no complaint. Better then a built by Toyota interior tho.
Until you get into a focus rs 🤣 you’ll really know what squeaks and rattles are.
hah yeah not the same build quality as this ;)
@@BrosFOURRSpeed but it’s just as fun to drive :)
@@13965082 lol those are fun cars!
japanese cars are built like that, unlike german cars. I did the same thing with my honda before i traded it in for my benz, problem solved
I even own an R8 and don't have rattle issues, I've never heard it in this either.
Nice car……….where do you park it? 🤓
Thanks! I park it at my house
Miss takeoff
huh?

@@johnniejohnson8996 what is?
First
Thanks for checking out the Supra vid!
Buy a better car. Problem solved!
Well there are no cars that compete with the Supra that can offer this exact driving experience. So a $10 roll of tape seems to be a good way to solve the issue and enjoy this car
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The new Z will blow the supra out of the water! No foam tape needed
Definitely gonna try this with my Jeep! Thanks alot! 🤍
