- What if you knew what your expiry date was? Would you live differently? Jeremie Saunders, who lives with a fatal genetic disease, explores what it means to live fully in the face of death. Jeremie is an award-winning actor, producer, and host of popular Canadian media, including film, television, and podcasts. Living with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis, Jeremie is passionate about shifting the perspective and stigma around chronic and terminal illness through humour and frank, unfiltered discussions. He launched Sickboy Podcast, which has been on iTunes’ “best of” list and is produced and hosted by Jeremie and his two best friends, Taylor MacGillivary and Brian Stever. Together they take a humorous and educational approach as they host a wide range of guests to discuss the experiences of living with terminal or chronic illness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
That breathing exercise gave me anxiety. I can’t even imagine what people with CF must go through. God bless them!
I’m sitting here sobbing because this helped me tremendously, I have so much anxiety about dying one day that I forget how important it is to live fearlessly! I will always remember this video and will watch it again and again to remind myself how fortunate I am to be alive TODAY! Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times. This is so important. ❤️
I used watch this guy on artzooka you are a legend Jeremie. Part of my childhood
I have crippling anxiety and depression. This gives me hope.
How is your anxiety ? Do you take anything ?
Rahul Singh you might want to consider psilocybin therapy. Do some research. My best to you.

This man was my child hood and now knowing what he has makes me cry
The fact that he was able to live even longer into 2021 is astonishing, this speech was outstanding
Is he alive rn?
@@Doublehelix_ i think so
What an incredible man, the perspective he has to say "cystic fibrosis was the best thing that ever happened to me" is so powerful. We live life and are so involved in it to the point where we think we will wake up tomorrow. It's crazy because if you were to ask me "do you think you will wake up tomorrow?", even after watching this, the truthful response will be "yes" whilst realizing I'm not guaranteed it. It's difficult to live as if this day is your last because of the entitled thought that it won't be. Amazing talk Jeremie Saunders, you have helped me focus my perspective on life, like the word behind you says "Legacy", that is the currency of my life that I'm trading on, and you have certainly earned yours...much respect!
Alex Collingwood-Williams exactly..
Liza Lr 👍🏾👍🏾
He's my cousin
That was a flawless presentation and profound message.
Speaking from your soul you deserved the standing ovation.
I figure I have 24 years left. Not a lot of time.
That's why I also pack my life with the amazing and unusual.
I was 7 when I watch artzooka fast forward 6 years I am 13 seeing him say this makes me feel like I am not using my time at it’s fullest because in 6 years I haven’t done much but I think this ted talks has inspired me today to use my time to the fullest RIP Jeremie Saunders thanks for entertaining me when I was young and inspiring me today
Love you Jer. Crying at my desk...you continue to teach us all so much. Deep bows my friend.
So well done and so proud of you Jeremie, and if anything deserves to go viral this speech is certainly one that should .....
I experienced death and loss at a young age.. therefore I learned to live my life for my friends and family who never got to. ❤
He's my second cousin! Nice job Jeremie! ❤
I figure that I have 15 to 20 years if I'm lucky. Who's to say but death has been on my mind a lot lately and I need some comfort. Your talk hit home and soothes my heart. Bless you Jeremie you're so incredible! I have tears.........

Wow my second time watching this and sent it to my friend. Even more moving the second time watching. If that's possible. I know Jeremy because he dated one of my sisters friends in Nova Scotia. This video gives me life, gives me another "breathe"... a good one at like 80 or 90% :) This ted talk replenished me emotionally and lifted my mood entirely, AGAIN.

An important reminder. I will definitely be sharing this one!

Standing O! 🙏
When i die i will be ok, it's the still living that CARE!
and sometimes even they don't care...
I've Heard something that makes the vid complete that we all think in the future and the past but people with deadly disease live here they don't have a choice they don't know how much time they have left nor do we but we have an illusion of the future. They don't. We don't know our future and we can die tomorrow but the illusion we have lets us live like if that illusion is reality. But it's not, so start to live fully. You may not know your expiry date.
When confronting patients with adiagnosis of a terminal disease, doctors should never say: you have x years to live. They should be honest and say: there is no way of telling. The statistic number of life expectancy only applies to the anonymous group of all people with the disease as a whole. It does not say a thing about any individual patient. This applies especially to people with Cystic Fibrosis, because this disease is very different for every single patient. The term Life Expectancy should never point to a number in years. It should only ever point to the questions: What do I expect of life and What can life expect of me.
Man i loved artzooka
