  • When something awful happens, most of us ask WHY ME, as in, what did we do to deserve this? But maybe we're looking at this question from the wrong angle. Writer Jen Sotham turns the question around, reimagining "why me?" as "giving the gift of me", and finding astounding power and purpose and comfort as she lives with stage four cancer. Her cancer may kill her, but you'll never catch her dying. For more visit Jen's blog jenvscancer.wordpress.com/ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. I often wonder if the unusual diet I follow would alleviate cancer. For the last 15 years, I've been living between 92% and 100% on fluid dairy products. So every day, 92 to 100 percent of my calories come from some combination of skim milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, whole milk, half-and-half, and fluid whipping cream. In my case the diet alleviates pesky eye discomfort. But I think it will alleviate many diseases. So the mom's body makes milk and cream from food she has eaten and already broken up. And when the milk and cream go through your digestive system they get broken up again by your bile. Thus when the nutrients from the milk and cream reach the cells they've been broken up twice, versus solid food nutrients only broken up once, and hence milk/cream nutrients don't clog the cells as much as solid food nutrients, and thus the cells perform better. It's not really that the milk/cream nutrients fight cancer so much as they don't interfere with cell function as much as solid food nutrients, and hence the cells work better. I also think the mom's mammary gland chooses the elements from her own food to compose the milk/cream that are the softest and most easily handled by the baby's digestive system and whose nutrients are the least clogging to the cells, hence again the nutrients from milk/cream don't interfere as much with cell function as solid food nutrients.

With great respect I just wonder why we fear death so much and see it as an enemy. It comes to all.of us .My sister refused to accept her stage 4 cancer diagnosis as a death sentence till the end .Cant we do what we can to heal but also accept at some point we leave so maybe it's ok to embrace it at some point

As an American I feel that the fear of death is unique to Western culture. Other cultures accept death for what it is; an inevitable part of life. I recently was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, This is my 6th and I suspect my final bout with cancer. My first cancer was Hodgkins Lymphoma, diagnosed when I was 23 years old. Since my first cancer diagnosis I have had 5 subsequent cancers over the years, I am now 71. Believe it or not, I am grateful for each and every cancer I was diagnosed with. Cancer has taught me how to live, love and truly appreciate my life.

I pray she is still alive today. Cancer is relentless, is vicious and the end of the road is Eternity. I am on the ancient Urine Therapy (rubbing, putting some in the mouth. Others drink lots of urine). But it has warded off cancer, diabetes, cardio vascular and thousands of other diseases. I eat a normal diet ( junk to good), eat no vitamins, no other therapies. And Zero visits to doctors for 25 years. Urine therapy is my Life. Free, powerful. I am not preaching to others...just sharing my experience.

Cancer is not the only terminal illness we can meet. Dementia is another and Lewy Body Dementia has a shorter road than others. Before a span of 5-7 yrs are up. Before dieing one loses one's self and some indignities may be benchmarks ( temper tantrums, crying jags, hallucinations, delusions etc.). After listening to this young woman I've determined to perhaps blog lessons and realities about the road signs on my highway. At least until I cease "being" who I am. Maybe it will be of help to someone on this path, because this young woman has been an inspiration to me.

Sadly Jen Sotham has passed away. This post said Nov 9 but there was no year was given...
Jen Sotham, passed away on Nov. 9. Jen was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in 2014, but that did not prevent her from living out her dreams and having her voice heard through film, blogging, a TED talk and contributing to CURE® - both in print and on the web.
Jen, 43, was a New Yorker, but had also recently spent nearly a decade living and working in Busan, South Korea. She was a writer and musician who had taught composition and conversation at the university level.

In 2011, I started having acid reflux. It was uncomfortable and concerning, so I went to our family doctor for an exam. During the visit, he asked me when I’d last had my prostate-specific antigen (PSA) checked, the routine test many men do to screen for possible signs of prostate cancer. It had been about three years since I’d done this test, so he added it to my visit that day. The results showed I had a PSA score above 20, and my doctor recommended that I have a biopsy. A few days later, I received the news from an oncologist at the same clinic where our regular doctor practices, that the biopsy had tested positive for prostate cancer. I was 60 years old at the time. The diagnosis was devastating. I felt like I’d just been hit with a sledgehammer.
The oncologist recommended that I have my prostate removed. At first I was ready to say yes. Why not just have the prostate removed and get rid of the cancer? That seemed like the most logical idea.
But although I did not want to waste another minute before doing whatever I could, the oncologist recommended taking my time. He suggested that I talk things over with my wife and let him know my decision within a couple of weeks.
After trying almost everything it did not work I was recommended to Fastcancercure on Instagram. I decided to communicate with them. And I provided all the infortion they require and miraculously when they finished doing their stuffs to my greatest surprise after a month time I was now feeling really good. I had to head to the hospital for check up and my prostrate cancer test was negative. Thanks to Fastcancercure on Instagram.,

My mother died five days ago from metastatic melanoma. I’m a little shocked this came up in my queue. (My mom was 84 and had nearly a year to “get her ducks in a row.” It’s ok.)
