I am a major Tolkien fan, I’ve read the Silmarillion, and I am so sick of all the videos and thumbnails hating on this show just to hate on it.
(and half the time it seems clear that these people aren’t actually familiar with the source material and most of their knowledge comes from the movies)
I definitely feel you. I’m hoping that things will get better the more that the show comes out, but I definitely remember a time where you couldn’t find a single positive review of Rings of Power. It’s crazy to me.
I hope you enjoyed the video and I look forward to covering the rest of the season!
The annatar scene at the end of episode 2 was something I've waited years to see so happy we got it
They really did execute it perfectly
It's nice seeing a rational video regarding the series. I love this show, and my algorithm is filled with hate videos. Im so glad I stumbled upon your videos!
Thank you! I’m always happy to find more positive and open minded people here. I look forward to covering the season and discussing it with everyone!
Fantastic breakdown! The Celebrimbor/Annatar storyline is my favorite so far, it's absolutely magnetic to watch! Great to see the gripping interpersonal and celestial drama that Tolkien was so good at without so much orc-decapitation. If it can be said that Jackson's adaptations failed anywhere, it would be in the grotesque and sometimes gratuitous violence scenes for me.
It’s always funny to me how much people harp on RoP for being un-tolkien and the reasoning they give being it’s too boring, or it spends way too much time focusing on characters and dialogue than on action scenes. And I agree with you, that feels more Tolkien to me.
"snap back to reality"?
Ope, there goes gravity.
Apparently Sauron has a thing for blondes
Based.
I don't like how they made Calebrimbor weak and old. He was corrupted and misled, but he was not weak or old looking...
I personally don’t have a problem with the way he looks. I think the actor portraying him is doing an excellent job at making me care about his story, and for me that’s all I can ask for. Though, I don’t know we’ve had any indication that he’s weak, and I’m hoping the end of the season will give us an opportunity to see his true strength
